Went online to book a room and Riviera surprisingly was listed as a Home Resort

It showed Riviera as being able to book 11 months out. I selected one night to see what would happen. It then gave me the message that the reservation was outside of our booking timeframe. Anyone else showing Riviera as a Home Resort when trying to book online?

Its any points given back to you due to Covid trip cancellations or adjustments. They give them to us from the RR pool of unsold points they have. I have 2 Dec UY that I won't be using.
 
As mentioned, it appears That is what happened in lieu of banking an owners 2018 points a 2nd time.

So, if you had anything like that or OTU points, it is a temporary contract to hold either of those.

Because it’s there, it shows under home resort but won’t function that way.
 
OK. Thanks. That all makes sense now. Yes, we do have banked 2018 Aug, Sept and Oct UY points. Those points are showing in our dashboard. Does that mean we can now make online reservations with them? Or do we still need to contact MS? (we are aware that these expire on Nov 30th)

Only a few days left to decide if we're depositing in RCI or not. As always, thanks for the wonderful help we get on the DIS!

Yes, they have now made adjustments a few weeks ago and you should be able to book online with them.
 
Posted this on another thread, and have now updated my original post to reflect a work around posted by @Sandisw

For my extended 2018 banked points that expire at the end of Nov 2020, I can now see them online as Riviera points.
I have tried for the last few days to book online specifying to use the "Riviera" points first. I get all the way to the last page (the Review your booking page where you have to check the box to accept the terms and conditions), but when check that box and click "Book this room", I get the Dwarfs We're working on it page rather than the congratulations your vacation is confirmed page.
However, if I specify to use our regular points first, and the reservation does not require any Riviera points the reservation goes through, and I get the congratulations your room is confirmed. I then can call MS to have the points reallocated to Riviera points. So from my experience, even though the Riviera points show up online, you cannot book online using those points.

I had a resie booked with my 2 RR Dec UY points. I had 2 HHI transfer points as well and had a night booked with all 4 of those. Booked for Nov. But cancelled it. Booked online myself and cancelled online myself as well.
