No it wasn't a scrap book weekend ( wouldn't that be a blast?) but her family and mine went to Knoebel's camping for a few days. I think between the 2 of us we went through 8 rolls of film, this was from late Sunday till midday Wed! Plus our two kids want to scrap too so they were clicking away! LOL!
The best part, we could read each other minds when taking a picture and would even say...."scrap book moment!" I cna't wait now to get my film back and start scrapping!

Wow, sounds like you had a great time! I never thought I would see the name Knoebel's on this board! I grew up right down the road from the park and even though I live an hour away we still get there often. Is this your first time there? Did you get any photos of the mascots?

We went camping there from August 2-4. Had a blast. It was a little hot but a trip to the Crystal Pool took care of that.

My little girl is 2 and had so much fun. Wanted to ride everything but this year, she was just under the 36" by a hair.

Get this, in July we went to Wildwood, NJ. Spend over $40 in ride tickets for a couple of rides. At Knoebles on Saturday, we bought a $10 book. She rode so many rides. Plus, me, my husband, daughter, mother and grandmother were all able to take a train ride and we STILL have some tickets left!

Going back the same weekend next year. Also, trip to Disney in March and another trip to Wildwood in September.

Busy year.... Can't wait for Disney and Knoebels. Love them both.

We go every year! This was our 5th trip! We love it and it seems each year we spend more and more time there! we saw Kazmo, some white lion and a Pepsi bottle. IT was really funny they all took a ride on the log flume! The pepsi bottle coming down was too funny!

etwinchester: Too funny we could have had a mini DIS Scrap meet! it is amazing how little it cost to go there. We spent Sat till Wed ate lunch and dinner in the park, plus lots of treats! The ice cream is to die for and cheap! rode every ride as much as the 4 of us wanted and only spent $325! for a family of 4. We camped at Lake Glory for only $30 a night!
I will say Sat and Sunday was so hot....we never made it to the pool this trip though. I was bummed the one water slide was closed! But as we told the kids next year!
We plan to go the 3rd weekend in June. Sat to Wed again. My mom and step dad go with us and they love Gospel music we went 2 years in June for their festival so they wanted to try itagain! Fine with me!

That's so cool. It was a bummer that the water slides were down. Next year they hope to have the kiddie section of the Crystal Pool done. My daughter will love that. She'll be 3 in January.

We stayed at the Knoebels campground. It's $28 a night. It's hard to get in though. The people staying there get first dibs for the following year. We called two months and had to wait for a cancellation. Of course, they cancel only a week before (due to getting money back). But now, we're in. It will surely be a yearly thing.

That was my favorite place as a child. Everything is all right there and very inexpensive. Hope my daughter will grow to love it as much as I did and STILL DO!

You should really check out Lake Glory. It is owned and operated by Knoebel's and is absolutely beautiful! They have a shuttle to the park and the rates are the same as the camp ground at the park,. we were in the full hook up my mom and Step dad were also with us and have a motor home. Plus those sites back up to the lake. They are level, and very large sites. No problem for a 33 ft motor home and a 8 person tent. Clean bathrooms with seperate showers. Small play area too
We always ask for the sites near the covered bridge, full hook up on the lake side but only water and electric on the other and they back up to a creek that the kids can play in.
The sites fill up quickly on the weekend but during the week it is almost empty!
We love it and it is only about 7 minutes away from the park.

Thanks for the info. Maybe we'll look at it next time we're up.

We went in 1998 and were way out in right field. This time, we have a really good site.

I do love Knoebel's campground though. The noise of the roller coaster in the campground and park make it more enjoyable and makes it more exciting for me.

This time, we had a really good cancellation. We can now walk to the park from our site. I still want to call about switching to a different site that I like just a little bit better. Have to hope that they didn't reserve for next year though.

Thanks again!!!

Well I hope you and your families ate yourselves silly while you were there! I used to work in the pizza stand next to the french fry stand so I got to taste lots of meals from the restuarant and cafeteria line. But I have to admit that Cesari's pizza is the best (voted best amusement park pizza in the country in one of the trade magazines I believe) and I love BITTERSWEET ICE CREAM from the Mill, it is a local favorite.

Tell you how far back I go at Knoebels, I learned to roller skate there when I was 10 and I have photos of my parents skating there in their teens! I really miss the rink. I am always glad to chat with someone who has just "discovered" this great park in the middle of nowhere..

SB related...I found precut titles of "KNOEBEL'S" at a SB store just south of Coopersburg (it may be considered Quakertown). They were available in red and black.

That's so cool that you went there at a young age. I remember going there as a child and I am now 28. Want my daughter to grow up loving Knoebels as well.

PS - do you have a scanner? I would love to have that title. I didn't know if you could somehow email it to me. I could then print it out and use transfer paper to put on SB paper.

If you could, I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I'll just have to make one.

Oh my I would love to have that! Do you have the name of the store? Maybe I could call them and see if they would ship it too me. If you have any information who made it I could maybe get my LSS to order one she will do it if possible
I looked in every store there for SB stuff and of course found none! I did buy a bumper sticker to use. Figured since it wouldn't be touching anything and i use a sleeve it should be alright!

I love the pizza we get it everytime! and the ice cream...that is a daily treat. Even my kids couldn't finish their kid size sundays! and the cotton candy...yummy it! I swear it is the best especially the blue! I also love the perogies! we ate in the resturant and everyone like the food, about $75 including the tip for 4 adults and 5 kids!

I love the power surge! My only complaint with that ride it is too short! All the other park rides are nice and long! Also the merry go round....the bumper cars!
We plan to go every year!

I dont have one of the titles yet, when I go down next time I will check if they still sell them. I was thinking of using a park brochure for my layouts scanning the title and then enlarging it.

If you love crafts try Knoebels Covered Bridge Festival in October. Huge craft show, good food and most of the park is open too! Show is held in the pavilion area. It is open this year Fri - Sun either the first or second weekend in Oct. Just to see the fall foliage makes it worth the trip. Try the apple dumplings and the seafood vendor.

Oh my, got thinking on how long I have been going to Knoebel's and it comes out to about 30 years. I have seen alot of changes there especially after the '72 flood and they have all been for the better. Last year I finally caught a Brass Ring.

My family and are just starting to get into camping in our motor home. I'd love to know where you are all taking about.

Sounds like fun. Would 14 / 15 year olds like this park you are talking about or is really for young children?

thanks for the info.

They have 2 fantastic coasters and many other rides for the big kids. Our kids are only 4 and 6 and love it. I personally think it is great for all ages. It isn't a high tec park like Great Adventure or Bush Gardens Think more on the lines of the Jersey shore but on a much larger scale. many carnival and pier type rides. But also throw in some coasters. They have a huge pool to swim in. with water slides.

Depending on the size of your MH you may want to stay at Lake Glory. My mom and step dad have one and like full hook up. The camp site attached only has a few sites with full. Also if you are planning to go this season good luck getting a site on the weekends. I know LG is packed on the weekends but is a ghost town during the week.
I hope my kids don't out grow this park!

You all sound like this place is so much fun that I had to look up their web site. It looks like it might be only a couple of hours from here. I am not a camper anymore. Gave all that up years ago. Roughing it these days is a motel without a pool. Seriously. Would it be as much fun staying at a motel near by or is the experience about camping on the grounds. What about the cabins?

Chessie you would be fine staying in a hotel we have friends that stay in hotels near by. Some prefer it since you are in the heat all day. we love camping and the kids have a blast. But I say go for it!
I don't know what part of MD you are from but I am near the Delaware boarder and about 45 minutes from Perryville/Elkneck area It takes us just under 3 hours to get there. Very easy drive. Straight up 422-222-61north....

I live in Peach Bottom, PA (9 miles from the MD border).

We went 283N (83N) to 81N to exit 116 (which is 901) to 54 to 487. They have those direction on their brochure.

That was a very easy route and quick. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Great park for any age. Definately not like Hershey Park but well worth it! For the price, you can't beat it. A nice relaxing vacation that won't break your wallet. The crystal pool is big and COLD. It is supplied with spring water. Once you get in it's not so bad.

I'd love to 2 or 3 times a year. I loved it as a child and love it as an adult. If you want to camp there, just start calling in February. You might have to wait for a cancellation from the regular campers. That's how we got in this year. Once your in, you have first dibs for next year. LOVE THAT!

Can't wait till next year............

If you are planning a motel stay remember that Knoebel's is literally in the middle of nowhere (I know I grew up there--lol). There are few motels nearby, a small one just outside of Elysburg in Paxinos called Glossers Motor Inn after that you need to travel to Bloomsburg or Danville.

Chessie
My sister lives on the Maryland line off I-83, it takes me exactly 2 hr and 15min to reach her house from Knoebels using the 83, 81, 901, 61 route.

If you drive up that way side trip slightly to Centralia. It is a modern day ghost town. They relocated most of the inhabitants due to an underground mine fire. The homes left are shored up by pillars of bricks. Seeing the smoke rise from the ground is eerie. Another side trip is a tour of a coal mine in Ashland. It is interesting especially after the accident with the miners being buried alive. Kids would like it too.

If anyone has questions about the area please e-mail me.

If you are heading directly to Knoebels, from 901, be sure to take 54 instead of 61. It takes you closer down to 487 near knoebels. I mapped out both directions and this way saved a little bit of time.

From there, Knoebels is about 2 miles.

Our vacations are already mapped out this year but it sounds like a real a definite maybe for next year.
