Just finished watching the movie Pagent (thanks Netflix). About the Miss Gay USA drag queen pagent. One of the contestants was from Orlando. He works/worked at WDW as a "wellness coordinator". I was just wondering - what kind of job is this? Sounds like a fun job.:goodvibes Also noted that Porkchop from RuPaul's Drag Race was in movie as well.

Disney has their own healthcare system for it's employees and their families. It's kind of like a mini in house HMO, from what I understand. I believe that they launched the program in the past couple of years and that would have taken quite a bit of planning and coordination. Maybe he is the guy or one of the guys that was responsible for that. :confused3

DH works for Frito Lay and we have "Health Roads coaches". They call us to make sure we are using healthy habits. Eating, sleeping, managing stress, etc. A prevention program to head off expensive insurance claims. ;)

If you have insurance claims for chronic conditions (like my bad back) they force you to talk with a coach or you incur penalties. Otherwise it is voluntary. Luckily i very rarely see the Dr. about my back.

it is a voluntary wellness program. If you meet certain criteria they actually help pay for your insurance... Up to 4$ each pay period, or 200$ every six months. Each six months you have to do something else to still qualify.
And disney has opened the living well center. It's like a mini doctors office with doctors for various things, a pharmacy, counseling. They want to make healthcare as accesible as possible for every employee.

And every couple of months wellness coach will call to see how you are doing and if there 's anything that they can do to help you with reaching any health goals.
