We made our annual trek to our county fair today. Shortly after we got there, we were going through one of the commercial buildings and DW ran into an old family friend. While she was sitting their talking, I noticed a woman wearing a VB resort t-shirt that caught my eye. Obviously, I looked to see if I might know this person since we know a lot of the Chicago area DIS'ers. Indeed, she looked familiar and I was pretty sure it was someone I knew. I looked up the aisle and saw her DH and then I knew for sure....!!!! DW, DSD, and I got to have a nice (albeit short) visit with Crissup, CarolAnnC (one of this board's moderators), and Carol's DD (whom I had not met before today). It was nice to see some familiar faces who had made the drive out to the fair, and it was great to talk the DIS, DVC, and WDW with fellow longtime DIS'ers. I had to laugh--by coincidence, both DW and DSD were wearing their lime green shirts today, too! So, keep your eyes out...you never know when the DIS will follow you, LOL.

Glad you got to meet Carol (and her daughter) - she is a wonderful person. (Sorry to hear that you had to put up with John though! :teeth: ).

We have met DVC members and DISers in the most unexpected places over the years and have always enjoyed the encounters - and I've also met Crissup (and enjoyed the encounter) :teeth: .

Thanks for the report!

I had met both of them multiple times before (but hadn't see either of them in some time), but you know how it is when you see someone you know in a place you don't expect to see them (even though Crissup had recently posted that they had gone to some of the fairs in our area in the recent past). :)

Hey! I resemble that remark! ;)

Had to make or annual trek to the Sandwich Fair. It was funny, since moving out here, I've been taking Carol to all the great stuff there is to do. Evidentally, agricultural fairs and other events like that aren't real popular in New England. So, since taking DD1 to all kinds of stuff like the Naperville Ribfest, when Carol asked her if she wanted to go to the Sandwich Fair with us, she said Sure! Well, as we're on our way there, she realized that the Sandwich fair wasn't just another festival where you go to eat sandwiches. :lol

Anyway, we only got about two hours so we barely got into the fair, but we did have a great time and DD1 finally got to see the "Mouse Game" (this year they were using a small rat) where you place a quarter on a colored square, then the carnie tosses a mouse onto a spinning table. The mouse runs towards the edge of a table and disappears into one of dozens of colored holes. If the mouse runs into a red hole, for example, and your quarter is on a red square, you win! It always amuses me to see how freaked out people get when they see it for the first time. Since this game was always around when I was growing up, I just always assumed everyone had it. Of course, when I was a kid, only adults played it and the bet would be cartons of cigarettes. You'd see some guy who had been standing there all day with 25 cartons of cigarettes stacked up next to him. :lol

Of course, it was great seeing Doctor P and family. it had been a few years since our last meet.
