My wife ordered the Canon 28-135mm IS, it'll be here thursday. She got it from BH, hopefully I won't go through the same stuff that jann1033 went through! This is my gift from her for our 7th Anniversary, which is this Sunday. I'm cautiously excited

Congratulations. I think you'll like it. I have one and love it. The people who talk bad about it try to compare it to something it's not. Its not an "L" lens, its not a prime, it doesn't have the latest 4-stop IS. But for me, it is a pefect general purpose/walk-around lens. I have other lenses that do certain things better, but non are as versatile as the 28-135. And with a less than $500 price tag.

Have fun with it and post some sample pictures.

Yeah, I chose it knowing it's not a prime or a L, and I plan on the 70-300mm IS for my birthday as well, unless my wife decides she will spend the money on an L I think I will be happy, I'll post some pics, probably early next week

i know where you could have picked one up really cheap
actually i am hoping canon can help me out unless it's once again just sitting in their break room instead of being repaired but only time will tell
congrats on the purchase, i think you'll like it as long as the is doesn't mess up and also wanted to mention the 70-200 f4L is only a little more than the 70-300 IS ( got mine for $547 thanks to $10 off for using google)
