After a lengthy ride to Tennessee and having a tire blow on our golf cart trailer on the way there, we are finally back to Disney, but not without problems! We got here last night and stayed with my parents because they didn't have a spot for us until today and when we got back to the RV to check in, there was a HUGE pool of antifreeze all over the overflow parking lot.:scared1: Our radiator on the coach split a seem and made a huge mess. I, unfortunately, tried to get someone to help me clean it up at the check in, since it was near the Kennels and I don't want people's dogs near it, but the poor guy was "earning his ears" and didn't seem to understand that it was not my dogs that I was concerned with. I repeatedly told him that I didn't have pets with me, but it didn't sink in, so there is a big stain, thanks to our coach, in the overflow parking lot! Sorry y'all!:rolleyes1

Thank goodness my parents were here, because my father and DH went to Walmart, after calling the mechanic, and got a "Fix a hole in the radiator" bottle and it seems to be holding. Now, will it last the hour and 45 minutes we have to get home on the 24th? :confused3 Dunno....

We are so excited to try to get to meet fellow Dis'ers. I hope we do. I will try to post the pictures of the orange mickey lamp post on our site and the musket mickey on the front of the coach for Colson. I know that bigdisneydaddy is coming tomorrow. Let me know if you are on property and we'll get together!

...over and out...AuburnJen92 and cwmajors:thumbsup2

Wow..you've had quite a bit to deal with..but sounds as if things are better now.;) Hope you have a great time and meet up with fellow dis'ers. Relax and enjoy your time at FW. Thanks for the live update....it's exciting to read posts from people when they are actually at our favorite place!:thumbsup2

Hope everything works out ok with your radiator. What a bummer!!

Oh and I can't wait to see your light post. We just made our's today. We made a Mickey and a Pooh one! It was so much fun!!

have a wonderful relaxing trip!!

Blessings,
Winnie

Ya still didn't tell us what your site number is!:confused3

Oh wow. Reading your first sentence, I thought I was reading my post. We had a blowout in Tennessee on the way down from Omaha earlier this month, on our golf cart trailer. It was so bad that we had to buy a new trailer, right there in the middle of the Smokies. LOL (well, not really laughing as it's funny, but what cha gonna do?)

Had another blow out on the way home on the new trailer (trailer had 10 year old tires apparently). Got new tires and made it home. As much fun as it was having the golf cart there, I think I will rent from now on. Have a great trip and hoping you have no more problems.

Thanks guy and gals! We are in 1109 and if you are here, look for the blue and orange golf cart. (Pics of it are on the golf cart threads) The leak has stopped and everything seems to be going ok. I will post the pictures tonight, now that I found the batteries for the camera!

I saw your pair last night, what a great job you did! I would have never thought to do a pooh one! Great creativity!

We have recently started looking at golf carts and are thinking about purchasing one this summer. As many times as we've rented one at FW, we could have already paid for one. :rolleyes1

Anyway, after reading a few stories about golf cart trailers blowing tires, I was wondering if there's a certain type of trailer that is better fitted for golf carts and long highway driving. Do utility trailers like at Lowes or Home Deport fit the bill or not? Are there certain ratings for tires and hauling?

Don't feel bad...I bent one of my leveling jacks before I left the house:lmao:
Glad yall made it.

I am fully convinced that the roads in GA are to blame. The construction there is horrible!:scared1: I bought the smallest trailer you can get for our cart from Lowes. It works perfectly. I do suggest that you get a spare tire, not from Lowes, because they want like $54 for it, but from a trailer accessory place. We got our two spares, one for the one that blew and one extra, with the wheels, for $33.76 each. They are good trailers and I say again, it is the roads you travel by. We just couldn't avoid all that construction and should have had a spare with us. AAA, AAA RV and Good Sam's doesn't cover utility trailers, so it is a good investment to get a small jack and crowbar from Walmart. I think we paid $18 total for all the extra gear. We have carried our golf cart to Disney and back for three solid years (on FL roads) without incident. Don't shy away just because I posted and others posted their horror stories. It is just venting. If you are prepared (which, honestly, we weren't) you won't have a problem.:thumbsup2

Aw man, that is a bummer. How did you do that? Are you here now? Where are you? My DH and I would love to hook up and have a beverage!

Wow. Come on people, you'll spend $1500 to $4000 for a golf cart and then put it on an $800 utility trailer from Lowe's? A golf cart can weight 1000 or more pounds and some of those trailers barely handle that much. You should buy a trailer with at least a 2500 pound load capacity. The second mistake is under rated tires, they should be load range C. Most blowouts are from under inflated tires that overheat. Check the tire pressure at every fuel stop or rest break. :thumbsup2

Brad in dead on....After under inflation comes driving too fast. Most trailer tire are not designed to go over 60 mph.

Ok, so we should go with a 2500 wt. load capacity. So for long distance highway driving, what kind of tires? (I'm sure DH probably knows all this but I want to prove to him that I do actually learn things from this board :thumbsup2 )

As I recall, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this board, good, bad and indifferent. However, when I left, I did check the tires and they were just fine. They had the proper amount of air, etc, etc. I have had no problems in the three years of owning this trailer until this trip. We were not driving too fast, in fact, when the tire blew, we were at 50 mph because of construction. To make a blanket statement like that is not fair. You are assuming that I was not being careful and that was just not the case. I have a DS3 and his safety is my main concern.

I do check the tires, and you did not take into consideration any other factors I mentioned! My trailer has been a trooper and I will defend it to the end. I have a DS3 and his safety is my main concern. You act like I am irresponsible and that is just not fair. We have been traveling with that trailer for three years. Also, it depends how much your cart weighs. I did my research. That is why I only had one blowout in three years. But, you are entitled to your opinion.

With all due respect, I think you have been lucky. As an RVer for over 30 years, a truck driver in the mid 1970s and hauling $50k worth of Harleys behind my motorhome, I was not expressing an opinion I was making a comment from experience and knowledge. The purpose of this forum is to share knowledge and experience with fellow members and that is all I am trying to do. You clearly stated you bought the cheapest trailer you could get and the cheapest tires. The utility trailers sold at Lowe's are for garden tractors and the like. The enclosed trailers sold there are of much better quality and load capacity. There is no doubt in my mind that the safety of your family is paramount but I think if you had been hauling your golf cart, on your current trailer, from a longer distance, it would have failed sooner. I do not intend to be harsh or critical, I just want to save you further heartache and trouble. God Bless.

I agree. Hate to say it Jen but you jumped a little hard on Brad. Like he was saying, it's just advice.

Hey, I was just trying to give some advice, not be "critical". Oh well, forget I said anything. Have a fun stay at the Fort!
