Well.. Valentines Day is over - so how was it for you? *Big News Page 3 from Crissup!

Had a pretty good Valentine's Day. :) The kids and I went shopping and ate lots of candy. :p DH had to work but before he left he gave me a dozen roses and a "day at the spa" so I was happy. ::yes::

Got DH the newest receiver for our Dish Network, ours was an old model. Now he only needs one remote instead of 3 also. He's been playing with his remote all evening.:teeth:

DH gave me a bottle of Escada perfume, which smells wonderful! I've never had a really good French perfume before, so I'm really excited about it.

We went out for dinner with some friends last night. We went to a restaurant called The Times that specializes in fondue and has live jazz music playing (I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the Twin Cities). We had a blast at our 5 hour dinner. :)

Antonia - I hope your DS is hanging in there OK. I read your thread about the situation, and my heart really goes out to the him. In the long run, it's definitely for the best that this wedding didn't happen, but I know that doesn't mean much right now.

Had a fantastic day wandering around DC acting like tourists even though we live here. Saw a play; had dinner in Chinatown. Spent the night in a 5* hotel and tried to pretend we fit in! It was really cute when DBF got out of the shower and said “You know, they say money can’t buy happiness, but I was HAPPY in that shower!” (marble, great water flow, huge fluffy towels – it WAS nice) Breakfast on Sunday was chocolates & mimosas in the hotel room. It was my best Valentine's Day ever.

there was no way I was going out to dinner on a Sat night of V-Day. I made NY strip steaks, Salmon, and mashed cauliflower for dinner. We always get each other cards and little gifts. I got a hard cover book I have been wanting and a Jiminy Cricket charm for my Italian charm bracelet.

I was so surprised with the charm. He is just adorable.

It was a nice but not so unlike any other day except with better food and gifts. :bounce:

Valentine's Day morning DH and I exchanged gifts. I gave him a heart-shaped tin of Mrs. Field's Chocolates and he gave me the "blushing bears" from Hallmark, which is exactly what I had been hinting that I wanted so I was very happy to get them. And he gave me a nice, mushy card. :teeth:

I had to work that night (I'm a waitress) but business was good so I did well in tips. :teeth:

Lauri: I have some of that Mystic Fire jewelry too! On our cruise they had some in one of the shops, only they call it "Caribbean Lights" topaz, but it's the same thing. I bought a ring. Then at a store here at home I saw a necklace and matching earrings and bought those. They had a bracelet too, but she had sold it shortly before I made my purchase. :( She said they would get more in, so I'll probably end up with the bracelet soon too. It's really pretty stuff, isn't it? Quite unusual.

It was so-so. We didn't go out. We don't like crowds at restaurants. We'll be having a nice night out soon though.....:D I gave Chris the HOTR DVD he wanted and I got the Poirot DVD I've been after....:D

I had an EXCELLANT VD !!!

I bought my Dh a watch that he has been eyeing..he was stunned that I had actually paid attention when he drooled over..then, when we were getting it sized that night (Friday, cause he was on duty VD ) he bought me the Tag that I have wanted forever!! I was so surprised..he just said " Get the one you want" I started to laugh at him cause I thought he was pulling my leg...
But Rick says it is not a watch, but a piece of jewerly that happens to tell time!

DH totally surprised me with dinner reservations at a very nice local restaurant. He had even called my mom a week and a half earlier to arrange a babysitter. We don't get out very much and we had such a good time.

My Valentine's Day was interesting.

DH was scheduled for surgery to get his wisdom teeth out on Friday the 13th. yuk.

So we exchanged gifts on Thursday night (He got me Alice in Wonderland and I got him Alton Brown's Gear for Your Kitchen. The rest of the weekend has been me taking care of him, like a good wife. :)

But...when he made the appointment for surgery, I made him promise me that we would make up our Valentine's date when we go to WDW in March. Score! Now I just need to decide where he gets to take me for dinner.

Hmmm, let's see, the V-day was really stinky!

DH worked OT the night before, on his way home at 10am, he stopped to pick me up a card from him and DS and 2 $.75 Charleston Chew bars. (I have gestational diabetes and can't even eat candy and sugar!) But, he got DS a $30 Star Wars toy. Hmmm guess I know where I stand! Then he went to bed because he had to leave for work at 6pm that night.

My 4 yr old DS decided Valentines Day was the perfect ocsasion to tell Mommy for the first time that he didn't love mommy and daddy anymore and wanted to get his own house. He came completely out of NOWHERE to tell me this. I wasn't yelling at him, didn't tell him he couldn't do something, he was just sitting on the potty and started crying and telling me this. I understand he's been going through a lot of changes lately because the new baby is coming,we have to register him for kindergarten this week etc. So I didn't get emotional in front of him, just explained that we still love him and would miss him very much if he left. Still hurt though :( The strangest thing is that he insists he's taking the baby with him!

Ahhhhh, thanks for letting me vent! :teeth:

LOL Stimpy!!!

It's not funny, but it is!
My DD has said stuff like that before. She didn't want to leave Disney last week "cause I don't want to live with Daddy right now" but then cried 2 days later because Daddy left for work before she woke up....

Kids...go figure!

DBF and I had a pressed for time V-Day but we were togehter(that's what matters).I got a small teddy bear and a single candy rose(plus Die Another Day on DVD as a late Christmas present). He loved the Footloose cd I gave him plus the stuffed animal and candy(plus the necklace for Christmas)

In 2 weeks(unless he gets his new car this week0 we'll have the nice dinner and see Eurotrip

Well, CarolAnnK and I officially announced our engagement to the online community. We had actually been engaged since February 1st, but held off until V-Day to tell everyone. I'll post a link below. :)

Leaking the engagement info...

Valentine's actually turned aout very nicely. We didn't do anything on the 14th beacuse my husband worked, but he sent me a 18 roses and candy. Best of all my MIL, BIl and his girlfriend came over yesterday to baysit and we actually went out to dinner. We havent been out alone since my dh's bday in Sept. so it was great.

My wonderful dh who is like the typical man, could usually care less about going out. Yet, for a month or so, he's been planning this surprise weekend for us. He took care of the babysitter for our 2yo dd, dining ressies and "fun stuff... ;) ".

We spent 2 nights in Gatlinburg, TN, and on Saturday he told me that we were getting our vows renewed at one of the little chapels there! His sister and mom brought our dd and niece over, and we played in the jacuzzi with them for a while. (They were kind enough to bring our dd over and take care of her so we could have some alone time!) Then, we went to a very romantic restaurant, followed by a vow renewal ceremony at 9pm! It was truly the best Valentine's Day I have ever had! ::yes:: He is usually working, so it was a nice treat! Now, we have a new anniversary and he will HAVE to get off for Valentine's weekend! :teeth:

Loved hearing everyone elses stories too! Congrats to Crissup and CarolAnn!!! A few words of advice... Don't let life get you so caught up, where you tend to forget what is most important in your life...each other.

DH really came through this year. He sent me a dozen roses at work on Friday. I thought part of that was the rotten afternoon I had Thursday, but he ordered them Thursday morning to his credit. And of course getting them at work is extra special because all of my students ooh and ah over them (and ask who sent them--who do you think sent them???)
Sat. we went out to dinner at Outback with two other couples. One guy went at 4 and picked up a beeper, we got there at 5 and sat down about 5:45. DH had an awesome ribeye; my prime rib was half fat and just OK.
Last night the youth at our church had an annual valentine's dinner. I've always wanted to go and dragged DH kicking and screaming, but it was a lot of fun and we won "the Newlywed game" (tame questions of course, it WAS at church). So I got a box of turtles I can't eat (WW) and a gift certificate to Chili's for next weekend (hurray!) Then DD#1 was at a friend's house last night and DD#2 and DS stayed over at Grandma's so we got a little "alone time";) before DD#1 came home.
