I had my third sitting today. It was a family portrait mostly for x-mas cards but their son is in my DD's classroom. I have taken their portrait before when I worked at The Picture People. I was nervous as heck cuz I don't have my new equipment yet and I ahve to see them all the time. They were trusting me instead of going to the PP again.

Well, looking at their photos, the only thing that is going to be hard is them picking which ones to send out and what sizes. I know they'll be buying the proof cuz these pictures just came out AMAZING!

if anyone wants to take a look!

they have been altered slightly to fit the 4x6 for Target but most will be cropped differently for other size photos.

The pics are nice!

I did wonder though, if you had their permission to post their pics on the internet. I wondered this a few days ago when I looked at the other pics that you posted. I mention this because I know that my DH and I would be very upset if a photographer we hired put our pictures on the net. I would think that as you're trying to get a business started, it is important to respect your client's privacy.

They signed a waiver saying I could do whatever I wanted with them and use them however I saw fit. So yes, I can put them on the internet. I just want opinions and i guess a little support that they are ok. The main reason they are on the site though, is I needed to order proofs until my new printer comes in.

Thanks for looking! I'm not posting where they live or any shots that should not be seen by anyone other than family so I just thought I'd share. the link wil be disabled soon so it won't be there forever. Plus a lot of photographers have their clients pics on the internet. If you do a search, the have full galleries. Once my own web page is started, i will be using some of my photography too. I was hoping you all could help me decide which pics to put in my portfolio to show upcoming clients. maybe i can actually get jobs for people I don't know and I need something to show them.

I love the baby pictures without shoes. Was that you're suggestion? I always had my kids pix without shoes at this age because the shoes always look big & bulky. If it wasn't you're idea, use it in the future, it's adorable. :cool1:

Your work is amazing! Excellent job. I wondered about permission to post pictures as well though. As long as you have your client's ok to do whatever you want, then I guess there is no issue. Some people though prefer not to have their kids pictures on the internet so you just might want to make sure that posting them is fine. It's true that alot of photographers post client's pics but all the experiences I have had, including wedding pics, is that it's password protected so not everyone can view them. I don't mean this as a criticism at all but I'd hate for kids pictures especially to wind up in the wrong hands. Good luck with your new business :)

ITA, just becuase you "can" do something doesn't always mean you "should" do it. Please check with your clients. I am glad your business is starting to take off, good luck!!!!!! :sunny:
