We'll sleep when we get home! A fun-filled mother/daughter vacation! (Updated 1/21)

You didn't take time to see Naveen??? :faint:

In Disney World, you have to look up, down, and all around! There are cool things everywhere. ::yes::

I know, I know. :sad2:

That's what I love about it! You always can find something new. :goodvibes

Today was Monday. We originally were going to do Hollywood Studios all day, but we decided to go to Downtown Disney since we hadn’t been yet! Plus, we’ve never been there early in the day. We’ve always ran there after 9:00pm and only had a couple of hours to look around. My mom went to Everything Pop to get breakfast and brought it back to the room (like she did most days.) I usually got a bagel with cream cheese and a side of disney potatoes (healthy, no?) and she would usually get an omelet. Soon enough, we were out of the room!

If you can remember from Day 2, I had pictures of 70, 80, 90 and "Pop", so I wanted to complete the collection :goodvibes:

Our bus had only a handful of people on it so we had a nice, peaceful ride. (:

Our first stop was the Christmas store, but we weren’t really in a Christmas mood so we didn’t stay for long. We crossed over and went to the arts and crafts store. I got a few things here, including a Haunted Mansion behind the scenes book, a Toy Story Vinylmation and a poster that I put in a previous update. Here it is again!

DSC_1231.jpg

It began to rain once we stepped outside of the store, so we dashed over to the Rainforest Cafe! We weren't sure if we were going to eat there that day or not, so for now we just looked around in the gift shop.

I'm sure most of you know Tracy, the talking tree.

We went to Little Miss Matched after that. I LOVE that store! I got two sets of the same Mickey socks (yes, I know it’s little MISS matched, but I wanted matching ones! :lmao: ) and a really soft scarf that all my friends love!

P_6930-011_500.jpg

We passed an interesting cart on our way out of Little Miss Matched. It had souvenirs for strictly left handed people. It was interesting! :upsidedow

From there, we went to the bargain store where you can get cheaper merchandise. I really wanted to get one of the grab bags they had that were $10 and filled with random things. It took some begging, but I got it! :thumbsup2: Here’s what I got in it. Considering the Candace doll itself was $14 when bought somewhere else, I think I did pretty good. ::yes::

DSC_0206.jpg

We went to Basin from there and got a few different bars of soap! :cloud9: LOVE that store! Everything smells SO good!!

I believe we went over to The World of Disney after that! We must have spent a good hour in there.

Hey! Thanks so much for joining! :thumbsup2

I love shopping pictures!!! I can't wait to check out the silver store when we go in June!

I do too! My mom is excited to check that one out. :)

We bought a lot of souvies at the World of Disney store, and our annual pass discount really helped us out! I can't remember everything, but I remember I got a cute Peter Pan decoration that moves and plays music. Here’s a video I took on my phone of it a little while ago for informational purposes ;) :

We bought a bunch of other things ($250 dollars worth…:rolleyes1)and we had it all shipped to the room.

We were hungry after all that shopping, so we went to try Wolfgang Puck Express for the first time!

FOOD REVIEW:
At first, we were a little confused about how ordering and seating works, but it’s actually pretty simple. For those of you who haven’t been there before, I’ll explain: You order and grab seats as if you’re at a CS location, but they have servers bring out your food and re-fill drinks! Simple, right? We both ordered the Chicken Penne Pasta dish and a Traditional Margherita pizza to split, along with frozen yogurt for dessert. popcorn:: We picked out a seat by the window. We noticed some commotion going on outside so we looked to see and saw this little guy eating these people’s food!

Our food came pretty quickly. It was REALLY good, but really filling!

Dessert was so good. I love fro-yo, strawberries and brownies so having them all together was PERFECT!

Overall, we really loved this meal! It felt like TS for a CS credit, a really great value! :thumbsup2

We saw a crowd around the Rainforest Cafe so we went to check it out. It was a bird show! For the rest of the trip, (and even after we were back in Brooklyn) whenever we mentioned birds we thought about what happened at Yak & Yeti.

Some animals were real.

And some were...not. :upsidedow

We went to the pin store after that in search of Annual Passholder exclusive pins, and here's what we found!

DSC_0204.jpg

I looooove it!! It's a very nice addition to my pin collection. I can't wait to see if they have any more exclusive ones when we're there in 11 days!

After looking around at the many pins in there, we went towards the Once Upon a Toy store. We found a giraffe along the way. :goodvibes

Aw, your next trip is so soon! HOW EXCITING. :cool1:
Looks like yall hit the jackpot at Downtown Disney!
How cute is that squirrel? Haha. Did the pasta have peas in it? I think that may have turned me off a little... but the frozen yogurt looks delicious!
I didn't know they did a bird show...? :confused3
Very cute pins! :goodvibes

We also saw Buzz Lightyear. :goodvibes

And a flying Wendy.

Along with a Dinosaur! Please ignore my less-than-attractive face. ;)

87016558.jpg

In the Once Upon A Toy store, I got a few cool things! One was a Beauty and the Beast book that I saw the previous day at Animal Kingdom, but there was only one copy and it was kind of ruined, so I was keeping an eye out for it the next day! I also got an Imagineering DVD that I still have not had time to watch. ): And a mousepad, well, just because!

DSC_0209.jpg

The CM checking us out was extremely nice! She gave us the Premium AP discount just for the heck of it. We really appreciated that. (:

We headed out and found the Winnie the Pooh character bench! Luckily there was nobody else there at that time, so we had time to take a bunch of pictures. I love how they came out! pooh:

It was about time to get back to the room at that point. Both of us were pretty tired. I wanted to go over and see the new Lego displays but we were too tired to walk over to it. There's always next trip, right? But we couldn't leave just yet! After seeing pictures on the DIS and the DisneyFoodBlog, I really wanted to customize my own Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treat at Goofy's Candy Co! So, we went!

I got mine dipped in Milk Chocolate, covered in Sprinkles and then dipped in some more Milk Chocolate because one time wasn't enough. (:

My mom got pretzels dipped in Milk Chocolate, topped with Dark & White chocolate chips and then dipped in some Dark Chocolate.

Like how I dotted my I?

It took us a couple of days to eat both! They were SO good though, I can't wait to make another. This time around, I think I'll get a Rice Krispie dipped in Milk Chocolate, covered in Oreos and drizzled in White Chocolate! Mmmmm.

We rested at Pop for a little while, but not for long because Hollywood Studios has EMH going on! :wizard:

---------------------------------------------------

Our first stop of the night was the Buzz and Woody meet and greet. Boy, did we have a crazy experience here. I don't even know where to begin. It started off with these guys.

If you can't tell, (which you probably can't since the picture isn't easy to see) this family of 10 or so was running down Pixar Place with clear bags on their heads instead of ponchos! It was pretty funny to see while standing inside.

DSC_0219-1.jpg

Next, we saw a little more than we wanted to of the family in front of us. You see, they weren't exactly very fluent in English (or proper etiquette.) I'm not going to post any pictures of me from in here because I look absolutely awful (that Florida humidity does wonders to your hair..... ) But every time my mom went to take a picture of me, this little girl either A) Jumped in front of the picture or B) Licked the floor around the picture scene or the props in the scene. Yes, licked! :crazy2: At first we were a bit taken back, but after it happened a few times we became hysterical.

DSC_0224.jpg

DSC_0225.jpg

Next up was the Sock Monkey family. This group was anything but oblivious to their surroundings. They tried everything they could to try to get in front of others in line. For example, they'd say they wanted to get a picture with their kids in front of a scene even though they were 5 families back, and once they got to that scene, they didn't go back to their original spot. When the family got a picture of their kids together, they'd then take a separate picture with just the Sock Monkey there. It was....interesting...:lmao: My mom likes to call this one "Sock Monkey Committing Suicide"

DSC_0231.jpg

DSC_0232.jpg

All in all, this was probably one of our most memorable experiences of the trip, and not even because of the real characters! ;)

I'm SO excited! It's at that point where it's basically all you can concentrate on, I love it. :goodvibes
The pasta did have peas in it. My mom felt the same way you did at first, but I think she just avoided them. I'm sure you could just ask if they could not add them though. :) Yeah the yogurt was soooo good!
I didn't either! It wasn't anything big, just something to attract crowds really. :upsidedow

I love the picture of Walt with the Peter Pan boats!

I do too! :goodvibes

After One Man’s Dream, we walked through Pixar Place and went towards the Streets of America, something we hadn’t visited yet!

Poor Monkey! :lmao:

DSC_0282-1.jpg

I feel like I could spend FOREVER on the Streets of America. I especially love the New York part, since that’s where I’m from and all. (: It’s so much fun to check out all of the little details.

It was almost time for Fantasmic! so we went over to the amphitheater to get our seats. There was no delay tonight because the weather cleared up! No pictures from here, but you can use your imagination. ;)

The line wasn't too bad for the Tower of Terror, only about 20 minutes, so I went in line while my mom relaxed in the gift shop. (: I LOVE how scared I get before the ride and before the drops! This ride is great!

I also went on Rock and Roller Coaster since we were right there!

What a treat to come over here and find all of these pictures! I didn't even make it to DTD in October, since time was so short, so I am ready to get some time there in December. ::yes::

One Man's Dream ought to be a pre-requisite for getting in the parks. People should know where it all started and appreciate that it truly was one man's original idea that has come to this point - that has given us so many good times, added such joy to our lives, and brought us in contact with people from all over that we never would otherwise have even known existed.

I'll go to bat for the Sock Family - not in the skipping line part, but in the taking picture part. They may have been doing it for a school project. Brooklynn had to take Lola Cow with her to WDW once and journal all of their activities. I'm sure we got some weird looks while taking pictures of Lola, but it was all in fun, and Brooklynn loved sharing their adventures when she got back to pre-school. :cutie:

I love One Man's Dream!
Yeah, you can definitely spot some interesting people out there... I don't think I could have handled the licker.

I am the same way about Tower of Terror. In fact it's the only ride I ever get nervous about. No matter how many times I've been on it. I still have a mini inward freak out while the elevator is going up.

I LOVE Tower of Terror! It's one of my favorites! I like to boost myself up, on the way down, like I'm going to stand up. I catch a lot of air and makes my tummy feel even more funny!! :rotfl:
My DD and I took lots of pics of people in weird outfits at Disney! We laughed A LOT threw up in our mouths sometimes too!

Haha yes, I'm trying to crank out as much of this TR as I can before I leave on Thursday! :goodvibes

I completely agree with you about One Man's Dream. It's a fun way to learn about the man who started it all! It definitely gives you some great insight on all of the movies, parks and other things Disney created. :wizard:

You have a good point there. I have to admit, I never thought of that. Brooklynn's Lola Cow project sounds really cute. I saw something like that in another trip report I read, instead it wasn't for school. I think it was for a Chik-Fil-A contest. You had to take a picture of the stuffed animal cow in front of a cool vacation destination or something like that. No matter what the Sock Monkey family did that for, I'm sure they got some really cute pictures in the Toy Story line! :goodvibes

Haha yes, the licker was a bit much! Kinda makes you wonder what you touch everyday in the parks...:scared1: Hand sanitizer is your best friend!

Oh, me too! It was especially worse in the summer of 2010 when they added the new effects. They took away the part where the narrator spoke right before the drop, so it was REALLY a surprise!!

Funny you should say that because the summer of 2010 was actually my first time at Disney ( :scared1: ) and so it was the first time I rode ToT... so I had no clue what to expect. I thought it was so much fun and then they even showed you your ride picture when you were still on the ride, and it was hilarious. But then when I rode it in December it was completely different. To be honest I think I liked it better in June!

HEY GUYS!
I know this TR has been pretty dead for a while. I'm sorry about that! But I'm going to start a new one VERY soon and of course, continue with this one so the memories from our August trip will never be forgotten. :goodvibes
We were in Disney World from November 24th- December 3rd. I've been recovering for a week and spending my days catching up with homework, attending rehearsals for my school's production of "Once On This Island" and going to dance class. Expect updates soon! :thumbsup2

Concentrate on your schoolwork and enjoy your play. Maybe you can get some DIS time over the break. I hope your trip was awesome!
