I'm super embarrassed about this, but I don't mind telling you all about it (anonymity rocks).

I failed my driving skills test today. Miserabley. I couldn't pull forward within two feet, back up into a spot or parallel park. I knew I did horrible but after my instructor told me I failed I didn't just cry... I was in HYSTERICS. :sad2:

I don't even know why... At the time I felt like I couldn't stop, and I'm pretty sure it was an accumulation of things:
Feeling like a total failure
Feeling like an idiot
Being disappointed
Being upset in general
Knowing I did awwwwful.

I don't know now I'm ashamed I handled it like that the instructor must've thought I was completely nuts. I'm talking gasping for air, sobbing, screaming in the car while my dad drove away, insane crying. :sad1:

This is just a rant about myself I guess. And the horrible way I reacted.

I went back to the course later in the day and did it PERFECTLY. Go figure :confused3

I'm scheduling my next test ASAP but seeing the instructor again is going to be rough after the immature way I handled this.. :guilty:

The parallel parking part is the hardest part of the test. Don't worry about it, you will be driving in no time at all. The other thing is unless you live in a big city the you will not have to parallel park much at all or if ever.

I didn't even get to the road part of the test, and I'm a pretty good driver. It was just the freakin' parking skills.

All I can say is get out there and practice practice practice between two cones. And one thing when you take the test the next time don't get so nervous over the parking thing because some of my friends got so nervous over that and passed that and then did something silly on the driving part. You can do this.

Yeah, I'm going to practice more tomorrow and hopefully take my test Wednesday or earlier. I feel really confident now that I've gone through the cone course like... 6 times perfectly.

I just had no idea what I was doing the first time. I was completely confused even though I knew what the test would comprise of.

aww. i'm sorry. this was my BIGGEST fear when i went to take my driver's test.
good luck next time.

...and for the second time this week my parents have suggested therapy.... meh.

Driving tests are very stressful. You don't need therapy.

her parents probably suggested it for something else, because she said 'the second time this week'

and therapy doesn't mean you're crazy. sometimes people just need an uninvolved party to talk to. it can really calm you down.

Ahh, you sound just like I did 5 months ago.
I failed my driving test and the state trooper that gave the exam told me I did two things wrong and handed me my failed slip. All I said was oh when I failed lmao. Then I had to go back into the waiting room with 20 people and announced that I failed... I cried the whole way home and probably like 15 minutes after that.
lmao I lied to everyone why I failed though because I was embarrassed about the real reason.

Don't worry you'll do better the next time.
Did you have a state trooper or cop give the test?

I agree with you 100%. Therapy is a wonderful thing, but she was talking about the driving stuff so I just put those two together.

No, actually a really nice instructor and everyone else I know that's had her has passed...

In MI you have to go to a 3rd party for your test and pay $50 a test... joy.

I'm just going to tell people we showed up at the wrong time, or something.

My parents weren't exactly prepared for exactly how hysterical I was and I wish I was exaggerating.

Still getting your license is something that is very important in ones life and having such high hopes dashed pretty quickly can make a person act the way you did.

Stinks that you failed, it's a huge deal to get your license. But try to remain positive. You can continue to take it until you pass. It's not a one shot deal. Right now the news is devastating, but once you get your license and you're on the road this will all fade into the past. It will happen for you. Good luck on your next try. :thumbsup2

I can't get my license for three more weeks anyways.. I'm still only 15 and change.... I was just so confident I'd do fine, and then I got there and was clueless.

On my test I didn't have to parallel park. I'm so glad. I did have to drive to the side of the road and back up in a straight line though. And I did everying thing and went to back up, took my foot off the break and the car moved forwards... I forgot to put the car in reverse.. duh. But I got a 92 or 93 on my test and I think anything below an 86 you fail. So I didn't do too bad.

I know I'll pass next time at least beause I did so great a few hours after the test xD

Honestly, once I knew what I was doing, I was totally fine.

Don't worry about it. Sometimes I get frustrated at something so little and start crying and screaming, it's understandable.

And my friend goes to therapy and like Shelby said, it doesn't mean your crazy. My friend is far from crazy and she said she is so much happier.

I'm sure you'll do fine next time. :)

Been there, done that. I failed it the first time I took it, too. It was just a really simple road test too, but the nerves got to me. Also it was on this really bumpy cliff, so I was scared I'd drive off of it and I made my turns too wide. Anyway, the best advice I can give you is to go do the course a couple times RIGHT BEFORE you take the test. That way, it will seem much easier. :)

ETA: After I failed I was like a maniac yelling at everyone because they kept asking what happened. I was just like 'SHUT UP AND LET ME CRY'. Then for a couple weeks after that I just said '...I don't want to talk about it'. So don't worry! You aren't the only one who's been through that!
