As most of you know we lost our Golden Retriever Sophie about 3 weeks ago. We really miss her and my one year old Golden - Tugger REALLY misses her. He's been so bored and has lost his spunk. All he tries to do is get out of the back yard and go down a few houses to where a neighbor has a 12 week old boxer/lab mix. He's so happy playing with other dogs! Well...I broke down and got him a brother. We all missed looking out the back window and seeing 2 happy dogs running around and playing together. The new pup is a choc. lab (from an absolutely excellent breeder :goodvibes ). I don't have him just yet...he's still a bit young to take from his litter mates and mother.

Can all of you help me name him?! I know my Luke wants a *military* sort of name. I like Trooper and Sergeant. But I"m not sold on them. ANY suggestions?? Here he is:

Patton?
Tank? (My mom always thought this would be a good name for a dog that had big paws.)
Maverick (from Top Gun)
Ike
Lu (short for leutinant)
Sarg
Tags (Dog Tags ;) )

He is SOOOO cute. I like the names Gunner or Patton that were suggested.

"What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog" -- Dwight D. Eisenhower

I say go with Ike.

Tags is cute, too, especially if he ends up playing "tag" with kids and other dogs.

Oh sooooo cute :) I like the name Maverick or Sergeant (Sarge/Sargie for short, DH used to have a tabby cay called that)
Claire ;)

Captain- you can call him Cappy. I saw on Animal Planet that dogs respond best to 2 syllable names that end in the long e sound.

SeaShelley had a dog named MacArthur in high school.

How about Bailey? Beetle Bailey.

My neighbor had a chocolate lab named Stover (after Russel Stover chocolates). Whatever you name him, he is adorable!

Congratulations, he's beautiful! I like the sound of Tugger and Trooper together. Same for Tags which is very original. :dog2: :paw:

What about General? or Gunner? :dog:

He has just the sweetest face. I have a black lab myself and he was a perfect match for our golden.

How could you NOT fall for a face like that?

I like Trooper too, but Hershey is good for a Chocolate Lab if you don't want a Military name. :teeth:

My sister has a chocolate lab, hers is named Livingston. Someone here actually named the dog when she asked for suggestions.

Enjoy your new guy, he sure is cute! :goodvibes
