We'll do it live! Live mini-TR. (Day 4: good afternoon, good evening, and good night)

Ok, latest batch of pictures are up. Currently soaking my foot. I somehow managed to tweak my ankle. Perfect excuse to plan my next move. It might be a DTD day. I haven't been since last October.

Soaked in the pool. That was refreshing. The shower afterwards was also very nice. I haven't made any more plans. Hollywood Studios is probably out. I just don't care for the park. I love Tower of Terror and I may draw me in (FP+ at 1440) but... You know, why not? DHS is a go. This may be the last time I go before they start building the stuff I actually would be interested in.

So, clothes, DHS, ToT. Book it. Done.

Sometimes a decision is made for you. This was one of those times. After a third bus to DTD pulled up and no DHS wagon was anywhere to be seen, I took the hint and hopped aboard. We're pulling in to Grand Floridian and so far I'm the only one on this bus. Our stop at GF yielded one family of four. What are the odds that DTD isn't a mob scene?

Nerd reference time:

My favorite series of books, without question, is The Dark Tower by Stephen King. In the third book (The Wastelands), Blaine the Mono is introduced. He's pink. His "sister", Patricia, is blue. Monos serving the monorail resorts? Pink and blue. Number of times I've failed to say hello to Blaine? Zero.

It is quite hot outside. I spent a good hour in Disney Quest playing some arcade games that took me back to my childhood. It's a complete shame that they're closing it soon to make way for a useless NBA restaurant. I'm more interested in using the hair that's falling out of my head to weave a new sweater than wasting time or money on an NBA themed restaurant.

I stopped into the candy shop and picked up some overpriced bulk candy and a frozen slush style drink. That was amazing. Not because of the taste, mind you. The temperature was awesome. I could feel my core cooling down.

So, back to the room for some fluids and then on to somewhere else. I haven't figured that part out yet, but a few slugs of Gatorade should lube up the brain gears.

Sounds like a MK or EPCOT sort of evening obviously...:) Which one can you get a better dinner at? Food, always my deciding factor, LOL!

Have fun! Can't wait to see what you decide!

Pictures updated. Making plans now. They may depend on if friends come to Disney. My backup plan will probably be MK. It could easily be a pot roast Mac and Cheese night.

I'm in a holding pattern waiting for friends who live in the area to get off work. The plan is to hit up the AMC theater at DTD and do the dinner/movie thing and maybe hit up one of the parks after. Well, even if they don't, I'm going to make my way to MK. My vacation is coming to an end. Tomorrow I'll be driving back home and going back to work Thursday. A late night at MK seems like a good way to wrap up this trip.

More updates to come as things actually happen. It's quiet time currently, perfect for charging phones, cameras, and mental batteries.

Waiting for the bus to go back to DTD. Now that I want to get there, the buses are scarce. How predictable. There are also far more people here than before.

There's a light drizzle coming down at the moment, which is doing a great job of cooling things down a bit.

I've noticed some dirty looks through my vacation in regards to solo seating. It's very much disgust. This has popped up on the buses, monos, restaurants, and last night at the Poly beach for fireworks. It's as if they've made the decision that since it's just me, I shouldn't be seated either where they want to be, or at all. With the exception of the beach last night and two mono rides, there has been plenty of seating. I've offered my seat when children, elderly, or others have been by me, but I don't need these crass looks and passive aggressive remarks. I'm choking down a wonderful collection of swear words because it really isn't worth being a prick over this. Still, this seems to tie in to how there seems to be more rude people on this trip than previous ones.

Sorry, rant over. General happy thoughts and hijinx to follow soon-ish.

Alright. Mission Impossible it is. The prices look reasonable and as we wait to load into the theater and watch the food go by, it all looks amazing. Let's see how this all goes. Updates to come.

Well, my MK plans fell through. Oh well.

The AMC theater was all around excellent. The setup for the dinner/movie combo was perfect. The seats were incredibly comfortable, spaced appropriately and tiered enough that nobody's head ever got in the way. The food was some of the best I've had at Disney on this trip. The burger was just an overall great burger, regardless of where it was from. And, on top of it all, I didn't feel the the Disney screws tightening around my wallet. It was almost normal restaurant prices. Really, I was impressed. I'm hoping that a good movie is out next month so I can do it again for my next trip. Oh, and Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation is awesome!

Loaded brisket fries. Yum!

The movie got out a little after ten, and as I write this up, it's after 11. My Disney adventure is all but done. It's been a fun trip and I look forward to coming back next month. One more update in the morning and I think this live report will come to an end. Good night all!

Some dummy made breakfast reservations for way too early in the morning. Don't they know I'm on vacation?

It's just before 8:30am and I'm in the lobby at the Contemporary waiting for an 8:55 ARD. It wouldn't be a Disney Resort without at least 2 crying children.

My original plan was to hop on the express mono and just take it to here, but the express mono doesn't start running until 8:30, and my experience so far is that it's not actually express-ing. More like leisure-ing. It has quite literally been faster for me to walk to the MK transportation center and hop on the ferry.

Time to load up in the speed machine (2014 Kia Soul) and just drive there myself. I allowed so much time for traffic jams that I arrived about 45 minutes early. Whoops.

Apart from the mono trip through the building, this is my first time in the Contemporary. I like the smell. It's a very subtle yet pleasant clean smell. The scent of the Polynesian is a little much. It smells nice enough but any extended time in the lobby and it becomes overwhelming. If they could notch it down to this level, it'd be much better.

There's a strange vibe from this place that I actually like quite a bit. It's more grown up than the resorts I've been to. This vibe feels like Adult Disney to me. I would love to see the rooms. I've seen pictures, but pictures don't convey everything.

Wave in 15.
Aaahhhh the Contemporary smell!!! Our last WDW trip was at the Contemporary and I absolutely LOVED walking into the lobby area every single day just to experience the smell! I told my daughter that on our next trip we may have to come visit just so I can deep breathe that smell in! AAahhhh lol!!!! ( we are going back to Pop in January)

The smell was great! It was so clean, but not overpowering. By comparison, the Poly scent almost assaults you. I can clearly smell it from outside the resort doors when they are closed. Too long in that scent and my nose starts to burn.

Safe travels home!

And thanks for sharing live! I really enjoyed it!

This is it. I have a quick final pack to do and I'm done at Disney. I could try to squeeze another day of activity and catch some rides or characters. It's tempting, but I'm mentally blah. The idea of doing anything in the heat isn't all that appealing. I had a Boma ADR set up, and I do love Boma, but I cancelled it two days ago. My wallet needs a vacation from my vacation and I need a break from Disney food. All I want is a salad. I'm not even a salad person. I'm a dyed in the wool, meat and potatoes man. But I crave greens right now.

It's been a lot of fun. I think this is a good point to call it a trip. I'll be back at Disney in one month and one day at a new (to me) resort and my first time using the dining plan.

At some point I'll do a companion trip report to fill in the details that got left out for the sake of brevity, and I may do a dining report to drill down on the food I ate. All in good time.

So, from the final hour-ish of my stay at the Polynesian, aloha and mahalo. Until we meet again.

Thanks for the report. I've enjoyed following along. Have a safe trip home.
Thank you! I'm home safe. Disney is an easy two hour drive away for me. Close enough to be convenient, yet far enough to be special.

I'm back in the real world and it's a little jarring. Back to general bad service and entitled brats. Just 31 days until the next Disney trip. :)
