Morning Ya Yas!

Elaine, safe travels and I hope you find a nice visit with family and friends somewhere in there.

Amanda, I'll cover the walking for you (did 8 miles Saturday and 16 yesterday) since I have some to spare. I can handle the apple peeling too if you have plenty of apples so I can eat a slice or 2 along the way. Great that you had a good date night. Hope you feel better and don't get too overwhelmed with all you are trying to do.

Suzanne, goodluck with your new job. Enjoy your last unemployed day.

To our Ya Ya fans, Go Bucks!

Sherry, hope you feel better, glad you had a great time.

Paula, Chris will figure it out. My DS told me that I can stop worrying about him. He will be ok. You know, it is still hard, but gotta believe they will make it.

Beth, good to hear that you had some down time. Take it easy. Hope you get to meet up with the traveling Ya Yas.

Ummm, my brain went and I can't remember what else I need to say. I'll get this post on its way so at least I've got something out here.

Morning, all! Boss lady forgot that I get paid for holidays now and had to give me off today so I wouldn't go into overtime! :teeth: She had me scheduled for 41 hours this week, which ends up being 38 1/2 after I take a lunch break each day, but add T-giving and I'd be at 46 1/2!! Big no-no! On top of that, we had a class yesterday that was scheduled for 2 hours--3:30 to 5:30 with the store closing at 6. We often have some slower students who take more time, but rarely more than 1/2 hour or so beyond the class schedule. So last night we had a group of women who refused to leave! Even when the store lights went out at 7:20, they said the emergency lighting was enough and they would continue working! Nobody apologized for keeping us late, in fact one woman declared she was NOT going to finish her book at home, she would do it at the store and we would just have to wait for her! So I did all the vacuuming and cleaning around them while the poor teacher called home to let her kids (teens) know she was going to be late and to go ahead and start dinner. Finally got out of there just after 8. So now, both of us have to figure out where we can cut more hours from our schedules this week to keep from going into overtime.

Amanda, I hope you're feeling better today and are able to keep that cold from taking hold. I know it's all a labor of love, so I'm sending lots of prayers and PD that you'll be back to 100% right away. So sweet of Todd to jump in and take care of all those lunches for ya, too.

I couldn't agree more, Sherry and Elaine--potato salad with turkey dinner is just plain weird!! Those "picnic salads" might be an east coast thing, though. Dave's mom always served cole slaw with T-giving turkey. But that was in addition to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Have a safe flight 'Laine and Luis! We won't be upset if the family demands all your time while you're here, we understand how that goes. Just grin and bear it, knowing you'll be going back home soon.

Gotta run to the old job to run payroll today, so we can get paid Wednesday instead of Friday, since it's a holiday for that office. so, I'm off for now! :grouphug:

Since there's been much food talk lately I thought I'd post in.

We tried changing our holiday traditional meals once or at least talked of it. Our DS#1 rebelled. So our tradition continues from my family. We don’t grow weary of any one in particular since all holidays are mapped out and are different offerings.

Holiday fare:
Easter, ham, sausage (fresh baked, not smoked), potato salad, hard boiled eggs the Easter Bunny didn’t get, dessert is lamb cake, and daffodil cake, babka (sweet bread)

Thanksgiving Day, turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes n gravy, sweet potatoes (not candied, just baked), salad, fresh green beans drizzled with buttered bread crumbs, buns warm just out of the oven with real butter on the side for me, some kind of dessert pumpkin for those that like and cheese cake for the alternative

Christmas Eve, Pierogis—(dough stuffed with potatoes or cabbage), beet soup (Borscht), Lake Erie perch sometimes, dessert is cookies not too many since we must leave them for Santa

Christmas Morning my breakfast is always leftover pierogis fried in butter served with sour cream. Mmmm been doing this since I was old enough to get the frying pan onto the stove.

Christmas Day, roast beast, mashed potatoes n gravy, fresh green beans drizzled with buttered bread crumbs, salad, cucumbers n sour cream, buns warm just out of the oven with real butter on the side for me, dessert cookies if Santa didn’t eat them all

New Years Day, pork, sour kraut, vegetable whatever we feel at the time, applesauce, dessert probably not--and it's National Take Down your Christmas Tree Day!

Morning, all.

Rough night for me. I'm about to call my vascular surgeon-I was in a lot of pain last night. Leg is being a PITA and I got 3 hours sleep. Ed found me on the couch and sent me back to bed at 7am. This is NOT the time for this!

Today is a massive housecleaning day. We're moving some furniture around and I need to do my shopping for Thursday. Perhaps I'll do that tomorrow night with Kevin. He says he's making apple pie, twice baked mashed and pumpkin soup, so he's gotta help buy the stuff!

Boss lady and I had discussed that I had some emails to pull off the servers and wanted to send a mass email to a bunch of regular guests. Silly me, I sent the email to the guests first and my access got cut off as soon as she saw I sent it out. I have no way to access my pay stub info! She'd said she wouldn't kill my account until Monday night. Grrrrrrrr.

Amanda, sending get well vibes your way. I'd help with your stuff, but I doubt the new job will give me time off!

Lainey, safe travels. We're having Kevin's twice baked, roasted garlic mashed and sweet potato souffle. The only dish I'll have to prepare on Thursday is my broccoli bake and I'll have to assist chef Kevin with the rest.

Bethie, I remember those kind of days-and I'm headed back into that world. After 55-60 hour weeks being the norm, it'll be weird to have keep track of my hours to avoid OT! And I beg to differ on the East Coast-I'm born and raised and we never had a salad on a holiday table-ever. :teeth:

Lily, wow on all that walking! Guess you're gearing up for Goofy again this year?

Sherry, can you get my hairs done while you're there? No time for me to do it, especially now that I went back to bed.

I should shove off and get some stuff done. Funny thing is that my morning routine is gone-no work emails and crap to attend to!

Yummy Yummy

Glad you found a fun bedtime ritual, Suzanne (just make a cake) ;) :rotfl:
And congrats on continuing weight loss

Karen, thanks for the update! I hope the dinner went well and the upcoming trips sound wonderful.

Wow, Beth and Betty both gave great ketchups on Saturday so I'll borrow theirs. ::yes::

I'm reading all your planned "hook ups" next week Lainey. Do you think you'll say hello to your in-laws also? :duck: :teeth: (LY/MI)

I wouldn't do so well in customer service, Beth. I would have tossed those ladies out of the store long before they left.

It sounds like everyone is either already busy, or just about to get there.

The girls and I had a great time at the play Friday night. They are home from school all week and are camped out in the den on the sleeper sofa. :teeth:

Good morning y'all.

Morning gang,

No time to ketchup! I've read...but no time to type a lot. Gotta get the lesson plans done!! HOpe you all have a great day!!

hugs to all!
tara

Quick hi...

I see Alan is still a twit!

Bethie, enjoy the day off!

I can't believe that there is a National Day to take down a Christmas tree and that it is BEFORE Christmas is over :(
Not sure if we have standards at any other meals other than TG. Mashed potatos made by me are on the list often though :p

Good luck with the cleaning Suzanne!

See y'all later!

Elaine-- :thumbsup2 ..How about them Buckeyes?
Have a safe trip, even though i didn't see where you were going..

Suzanne--hope the pain has gone away & you got some rest..

Lily-- :wave2: ..Good to see ya :wave2:

Beth-- :wave2:

The girls have been so good lately, I don't think they bothered Amanda once while she napped...Maybe several times before she got her nap.. :rolleyes1 ..
I got to do lots of shopping today...I just need to pick up a couple more things...One is being a bear to find.. :furious: ...Might have to get something else..

HEY!!! Who sent that cold weather down to Fl???? Take it back, I'm :cold:
Actually it has warmed up to a nice 60 degrees today but, tomorrow is gonna be really yuckey.

More  for Lainey. Glad to hear yer gonna get some turkey. Hopefully the mashed taters too. Hope you and Luis have a nice trip even tho' you would rather be at home.

Amanda! How can you possibly need to worry about walking when you have all that to do? to you for a stress-free time. Seems there is always some kind of stress involved when my family gets together, too.

:wave2: Lily, good to see ya. Loved your holiday meal traditions. Wish I could try one of those perogies. They sound yummy.

More  for Paula. hang in there, sistah!

Beth- Those thoughtless customers needed a cheeto-ing! Ya shoulda called us. I'm sure Betty would have been up for that! I could never be like that!
:wave2: Karen, hope your dinner party turned out well. Yum, I love lasagna, that is OUR traditional Christmas eve meal.
:rotfl: Kimmar, that pic looks like something I would do. Glad you had a good time w/the girls.

I agree w/the potato salad at T'giving consensus. No way , Jose!

:wave2: Sherry, Betty, Suzanne, Alan, Todd, Tara everybody. Running out of time. Even tho' I'm totally bored here at work gotta go pretend to work for a bit.
Later...................

Nah, I'm still here.

Mrs. AA and MIL took the girls to the mall Friday. Lela wanted nothing to do with Santa anymore. She's too big for that :(

But as you can see here Abigail was still happy to see him.

 Hi all! Just cem home from doing the Thanksgiving shopping - and oh yes - I made sure I forgot at least 3 things so I'd have to go back out.

I think I need to sit and make a plan for the next couple of days....
tomorrow I have a meeting at 11:30 - med check at 1:30 - pic up Ayssa at 3pm and parent teacher conference at night (I'm dreading that.....sorry to say that I don't even want to go...) - Wednesday taking my frined to her doctors appt - and will have to start the cooking and make sure the house looks ok - working till 11pm Wed night and 7am - noon on Turkey day.

Thinking about all of this menu stuff.....let see - always do turkey and trimmings for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ham and (dare I say) sometimes potato salad for Easter.
My sister in law is actually bringing cole slaw Thanksgiving night but that's considered a turkey sandwich side dish I suppose.
Not sure what I will make for dessert - I'm not a pie baker.....but everyone brings something so I know we'll be in good hands!!

Safe travels Elaine and Luis!!
Thanks for the hugs Rosemary - right back at ya!!

Hi to Lily, Tara, Beth, Suzanne, Alan , todd....

bump!

Home from work and bowling. Worked until 615 and then went bowling. My team did well...and I did decently.

Headed to bed! Have a great night all!!

tara

The benefit to all my cleaning today? I found a dozen darvocets! :cool1: Mind you, I am mildly allergic to the stuff-but it works. It'll do until I see the vascular surgeon.

I took a long soak in the tub tonight. My reading material? A bunch of stuff from the new job! :teeth: I think Ed was rolling his eyes when he came in to shave-he got the run down on how the benefits are sooooo much better than Disney. For retail, Disney had the best benefits. Not anymore. So I'm ready for the morning.

Tara, good deal on a good night at bowling.

Lainey, hope you have a good time while you're there. My suggestion is to hit up a Boston Market and get yourself a large mashed with gravy if you're not up to making them yourself!

Paula, good vibes headed your way for the teacher conference. Yeah, many a Easter was spent at a friends and his mom made potato salad for that. We're set now-I just have to pick up broccoli for the bake and a few things for the pie crust. Oh yeah, I do have to head over to Honeybaked on Wednesday morning for 8 pounds of pork pleasure! :rotfl:

Todd, bravo on tackling that list. We saw the commercial for the new iPod shuffle tonight. Ed's comment was it was so small, it's an iP-and Kevin got that glazed look in his eye like Ralphie when he'd look at that Red Rider Rifle.

Alan, the girls get the whole week off? I'm shocked that here they get Wednesday-that's a new one for us. Fruit salad, yummy yummy. :thumbsup2 (I have to admit the Wiggles are on my iPod-for ME)

Rosemary, you ain't kidding it got COLD. I put on an old sweater and asked me if I got a new pair of jammies. :rotfl:

Lily-yum, can I eat at your place for the holidays? Love the leftover pierogies, too. Close family friends owned a Polish restaurant. My dad and sister both worked there for a time-and as a result, my sister would make homemade pierogies to feed an army! Potato, cheese and onions-gimme some sour cream and they're perfect. You're missing the pickled fish on new year's, though! Don't blame you there.

Suppose I should get some sleep-or try to.

Suzanne

Okay, have to share lucky 7's across the boards with my yaya family-7777. It'll take me another 40 years to get to 77777! :lmao:

Suzanne

Todd, :yay: for getting the shopping done. Wanna do mine? I haven't even started. And I don't know what happened to the Browns. That was a sad, sad game. :rolleyes1 :(

Paula, sounds like you'll be busy. Good luck with the conference.

Hi Rose Mary!!

Alan, cute pic. :)

tara
