Hi gang,

Back from bowling and a quick trip to Lowe's for stuff for the kitchen...quarter round and base boards, primer, and paint. So I'm going to start on the kick plates and get them painted so I can put in the quarter round. I want the floor to look completely finshed here soon!!

ketchup...
congratulations Paula!!

Elaine...sorry you are grumpy. hope you feel better!!

and you have a good point. Though why bother having any braille at all on any machine (vending or otherwise) if you take that kind of "attitude" about it?

Oh, I just mean that if you are going to make something accessible, then make it completely accessible. Braille on signs, etc is good (although the percentage of braille readers among the blind is getting smaller and smaller)

But I couldn't understand putting braille on the numbers for a machine that has all the pertinent info on an LCD display with no screen reader. She would never know when she was prompted to answer or which button to push at certain times, so it was useless.

But then again, maybe we just didn't use the machine properly? I just know that the ones we saw were not useable by her.

I understand your point about at least making it partial so that a person can do part of the transaction for themselves, but in our case it was nothing she could not have done with no braille at all.

Now I'm going to have to go back and look to see if things are improved. We never use ATMs anyway :teeth:

What's the point of having signs saying that dogs leading the blind are welcome? Neither the dog nor the blind person can read it!

(Yes, that one was completely a joke. I love seeing a business display that sign because it at least means their employees are up on the law supposedly)

Poor everyone, wondering if Alan and I were really arguing... my bad attitude got in my way.
Teach me to talk in a pissy mood ;)

Tara, good luck with everything! How did your bowling go?

Got ice cream, so I feel somewhat better now.

Tara, glad you had fun bowling. Good luck with the floor.

Just bumming around today. Caught up on some shows on the DVR, finally.

Elaine, sorry about the grumpy mood. Glad the ice cream helped a bit.

:rotfl: :rotfl: I never thought about the key pads being the only part in braille...duh! I guess that means if the blind person is driving the sighted person has to lean over them to read the display!

On a serious note...i have seen some with headphone portals so maybe you are supposed to walk around with your headset at all times so you can get money!!

I've wondered too why they put the signs on the doors when the dogs and the blind can't either one read them :confused3

Elaine...haven't we told you that you are not supposed to post anything but EIOPS when you are pissy!!! :rotfl: That keeps you from opening your mouth and inserting your teeny tiny foot!! :teeth:

I finished the sanding, cut the grass (front yard only), and ate dinner at Golden Corral. I was planning on getting the primer done tonight but I ate too much and now I'm ready for bed!

Oh and my bowling....I had a 400 series so that is good. I was very careful and didn't hit my sore finger...so the only swearing I did was when I accidently threw a first ball straight in the gutter!! :rotfl: That one hurt!!

alright gotta put little butt to bed, bigun is with his dad tonight so I have a peaceful easy night!!

back later gang!

Good Morning Gang!

Happy Belated Anniversary to you and DH Paula!
Alan-what a cute pic! Cool deal about Mrs AA and the voting thing. Never did think about the ATM thing that way.
Elaine-Ice cream always helps a pissy mood :teeth:
Sherry-Sorry the boys pushed your buttons, LOL! Glad they survived. Can't believe it is almost time for mine to go back to school. I'm sure he can't either :rotfl:
:wave2: Bethie: Thanks for the hug I sure needed it. And I'm working on some trip plans ;) However, I may need to pop in to The World before then. was thinking my BIG B'day weekend but, my pass will still be blacked out until the next weekend. Guess I could have 2 B'day weekends!
Tara-A night off, yippee! Great job on the bowling but, watch that finger.
:wave2: to all I missed.
More car problems here. Back in the shop AGAIN! Hopefully they will get it right this time. I'm ready for this black cloud to be lifted.
Have a wonderful day all!
 puckerup: :rose:

I meant to quote this last night... how do you know the dog can't read? Geez, just cuz they speak with a funny accent to y'all, doesn't mean they aren't able to :p

Seriously though, I figured even if they didn't have screen readers, a blind person wouldn't need me to do it all for them. Granted ours also have enough beeps, that I never read my screen (believe it or not, I do avoid reading a lot if I can). I seriously just know the order of it all. Or I used to... my machine doesn't read "ATM" anymore... it's "Luis" ;)

Tara, good point, stick to EOIPs when in a pissy mood. I think I need to make a real note of that one and put it on my screen to remind me :rotfl:

Oh and my foot isn't that teeny... now my hands on the other hand... oh wait, how dumb sounding was that? :rotfl:

yes, I so enjoy picking on myself ;)

Sherry, hope you enjoyed the day bumming around! Those are always good!

Rose Mary, grrr on the car toubles again! Is this something new or something they didn't fix right? Oh and plan a trip to visit us in Oct/Nov! We'll have a blast... I think we still have a bed available ::yes::

Haven't decided what to do today. I think I am about ready to call my doctor to get new allergy med.

Good morning all.....

It's only 64 degrees here this morning.....I'm almost chilly! How crazy is that....

Well my DH celebrated our anniversary by getting a ticket for no inspection sticker (I should say that he has an '04 truck and he knew it was overdue but was putting it off due to needing a cracked windshield replaced). So putting it off acomplished nothing but an extra $75 for the ticket. He has a glass company going to his work today to replace the windsheild. And just for a sprinkling of poetic justice......while he was pulled over Chris drove by in the work truck - I can just imagine the grin he had on his face!!

Elaine - I hope the mood has lifted - ice cream remedy is always a good choice. Are your allergies kicking up on you again??

Rosemary ...yuck on the car issues- I'm wishing your black cloud away

Alan....loved the AA offspring makeover pics....she truely looks like a "big grl" now - but I have to ask...because it's a girl thing.....did she still like it the next day??

Tara - how was your peaceful night?

And big hugs and hello to : Pam, Lily. Kristy, sherry, Todd, Beth....and everyone !!!!

Not sure what I'm doing today yet so I'll probably check in later.

Tara, that sounds like a great bowling night from a man whose only goal was to get into triple digits. :teeth:

Rosemary, it's good to have you back.

You have a point with the accent. :scratchin Pilot came from New York and we can't understand her at all! :confused3

I'm glad you had an ice cream intervention last night. ;)

I am sorry about the ticket, but the poetic justice was funny. :) That's gonna come back to bite him. ::yes::
but I have to ask...because it's a girl thing.....did she still like it the next day??
She did, but stop trying to scare this poor dad to death with that "girl thing" stuff  Lela is already a drama queen at 8!

...well...Judie and her DFam will be leaving for DL on Saturday morning.....now I kin talk 'bout her ALL I WANT...... :teeth:

Alan ~

Abigail looks absolutely adorable.....

[tee-hee-hee...gotta LOVE those missing front teeth!!]

Abigail looks adorable in her new haircut! :cheer2: That's the perfect haircut to accentuate her face!! :thumbsup2

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PAULA AND MR. PAULA!!!! party: May you always feel the :love2: !!

Sorry about the ticket, though. :guilty:

OH NO!!!!! Tiara is on the loose again at the home improvement store! :faint:

I agree with Lainey! ::yes:: My Gunny has been reading since he was 7 months old! It's taking a little longer than I thought for him to master driving, though.

It's the height issue isn't it? That makes it so hard on the poor pooches at times

Paula, sorry about the ticket, but I can only imagine how Chris felt! :teeth: Allergies are just worse this year than before. I'm getting tired of them, so I might call some day to get an appt to switch *sigh*

Lucky Judie! Does she have room in her suitcase for me? :p

I decided to skip cleaning this morning and see PotC2. Anyone care to join? :teeth:

Good morning, everyone! Enjoying a bit of a lazy morning, here, since I don't have to be at work until 4. Mid-week laundry is going, I made cranberry orange muffins for my breakfast, and I am getting ready to run a few errands. and the best part is that I get to wear sneakers to work today since shipment comes in and our Acting Store Manager said it was OK! Ahhh, simple pleasures!! :rotfl:

Alan, that is so cool about Rebecca getting to vote on her own!! I've often wondered about the Braille on the ATM buttons, too. Love, love, LOVE Lela's new 'do!!! Next thing ya know, you'll be shopping for prom dresses!! :lmao:

Laine, sorry about the mood--I can soooooo relate. Hope today is a better one for ya. If not, just plan on having "dinner" at Graeters!

Rose Mary, you know you can drop in for a  anytime, whether ya need it or not!! Bummer about the car again. Keeping my fingers crossed those :joker: :joker: get it right this time. And definitely, plan a couple of B'day celebrations if the actual day is blacked out for ya!! Heck, when we go, I celebrate the whole week we're there!!

Oh, Paula!! That is such a stitch that Jeffrey got pulled over and Chris drove on by!!! Such a typical man-thing to put off getting the sticker, too. So sorry you had to take over the work thing in the middle of the night the other night. I hope things are going a little smoother there for ya. Belated anniversary wishes to you and your hubby, too! 26 years is awesome!!!

Tara, glad to hear you had a reasonably good bowling night! Funny, how those gutter balls bring out all that "colorful" language! And your peaceful night made for a peaceful morning, too, right? No need to worry about what kind of breakfast he is helping himself to! Enjoy your day and don't work too hard. How is your mom doing, btw? Any luck talking her into going to the doc?

Sherry, I remember how bad it was when my two would get on my last nerve--I can't imagine how it is for you with twice as many!! Glad you were able to have a nice lazy day yesterday and catch up on your shows. Even SAHMs need mental health days, and THAT'S a fact!!!

Gotta go hang some permanent press and get on out to the grocery store. Ya'll have a wonderful day!! Mad love to one and all and :grouphug:

Driving difficulties are why Rebecca doesn't drive either. The dogs can bark once for left and twice for right (and jump out the window just before a collision) but they are lousy at reading and folding road maps.

oh geez did you miss the memo YOU wrote....its THINDY...remember she is in the disness protection program and she can't use her real name... :sad2: not sure you will ever learn the rules around here! :teeth:

Pam...you're right...me loose in the home improvement store :rotfl: They have however, banned me from driving the buggies....it seems running with them and then jumping up on them screaming "I'm King of the World" is frowned upon for some reason :confused3 Personally I think they are a little picky! I believe, if I remember correctly, the first book that Gunny devoured was your family bible right?

I don't know why your dogs can't drive...mine can...drive me crazy, drive me to drink, drive me up a wall...oh wait maybe that's my kids! :teeth:

Elaine...no POTC for me...I have to wait a minimum of 2 years before I see hit movies!! Have fun

Alan...a drama queen at 8??? :lmao: Man I feel sorry for you already!! How is PIlot by the way? Has Pilot become the assistant you expect her to be?

Paula... :rotfl: oh my that will be fun when Chris decides to use it on dear ole dad!

RM...I'm so sorry about the car problems AND not getting to go to WDW on your birthday. That just sucks!! Hope things improve for you! How's your man these days??

Okay, Ethan is done with breakfast (we slept in) and I need to go cover my beeeeeutiful floor with paper so I can paint. I'll check back later!!

tara

stoopid double post. I hit stop as soon as I hit submit because I needed to add something and the darn thing had already posted. oh well. Just another way to boost my poor pathetic post count!!

tara

Ack!! Kimmar, Pam and Elaine are sneaters!!!!

Pam, I knew Gunny was smart, but my goodness! Reading at 7 months!! That's magnificent! I agree with Elaine, the height issue really is a problem when it comes to driving. But maybe if ya got him one of those low riders??? :lmao:

Judie's off to the world this weekend??!!! It's gonna be a hot one, that's for sure! Have a great trip, Judie!!

kimmar, you manage to find some of the most expressive pix!! So, ya gonna TP her house while she's gone, or what?

Oh man.....11:00 already! I gotta get going!! See yas!
