Hi all....

Welcome to Paula's No-Car Summer - Day #3......
Isn't it funny how you can have a car in the driveway and never feel the need to go out - but when it's not there ther paranioa sets in....
I did mention how many times I'd be venting about this - didn't I??

Anyway.....life goes on - Alyssa is adjusting to being a 9-5'er...the romance is definitely over.....I wrote her a long note and got my opinions off my chest (even though I know there is nothing I can do about it).....she's not showing any emotion at all....on hea and this is a firt - I actually had to give her a curfew.....I know the adjsutment of college independance vs. family living would be difficult - so I took care of that post haste.
Chris continues to "limp" through school - I definitely think he wil be going to summer school and at this point am unsure if he will be graduating with his class next year.....such a waste in my opinion. His counsellor suggested that the Outward Bound program might be good for him.....I hate to say it but although I understand the premiss of the program to me it's just another "reward" and I'm not going to spend money on that - I think he needs to start being more responsible - find a job - etc.

Work is very stressful lately - change of positions has given me a new "superior" who I can tell is really pushing for hte office to be open 24 hours - meaning that my staff would have to go into the office to work at night. Most of my staff have small children so I'm thinking they woudl not do this - and I'm not really liking the prospect of driving hom at 11pm at night.....I'm finding it difficult dealing with such an agressive personality.....

So I guess I'm in the short club with Elaine....

Took Gwenie to the vet. We think we need to try to change her food. So in a while I'll go out and get little bits of different types to see what she and Cleo will eat.

Then my dad came over and helped build a perch. I still need to add carpet and twine and paint, but the base is done. I'll go shopping for that later this week when it is rainy again.

Paula, sorry about the whole job thing. That really does stink. And I am sad to hear that it is over with between Alyssa and Ryan. Good luck to Chris too!

I am tired here... allergies and the like. We also had to go shopping for new food for our cats. Just had too much trouble with the old Iams. I must say I am disappointed with how Iams has gotten with P&G running it.

AI will be on... heard Clay is supposed to sing. I can only hope

Elaine...I have at least 4 more days of testing. I am a test examiner and have to read the tests to deaf kids who have interpreters signing it for them. I've done two reading tests, and tomorrow I have math, and then next week I have science and social studies. It messes up the day and we end up only having about 30 minutes for each class period.

I'm exhausted and the kids have worn me out this evening so i'm going to bed at the grand time of 9 pm. I'll check back tomorrow afternoon after my math test!!

Tomorrow is the last day of school for the boys. One of them is getting an award-we got a memo that says so this time!

Today was the first day that Ed and I actually were at work for part of the day together, woohoo. First time I'd really seen him since Sunday night.

This is the first three day weekend I have had in forever-retail is busy during holiday weekends. First thought was to call my friend up in Jacksonville to come down, which I did. Then, a fellow DISer/friend emailed that his family would be down to their new house-did we want to get together?

The other friends are at WDW til Sunday and Ed's sis's b'day is tomorrow. Sooooo, the weekend looks like it'll be busy. I'd contemplated painting Kevin's room-I don't think that will happen, lol!

Good evening all! Thanks for all the good thoughts about tomorrow--I'm such a big chicken. Surgery has been moved back twice now. Was originally scheduled for 9:30 AM, got moved to 2, now today they call and it's been bumped to 3 PM. And STILL not supposed to eat anything after midnight!!!!! Oh man, they are gonna be hearing some loud rumbling going on while they're scoping out my knee, that's for sure!

Tara, the testing just drags on and on, doesn't it? I feel for ya, girlfriend! Just keep thinking about all the fun you'll be having at home with your remodeling!!

Nothing like a little stress on top of your stress, eh, Paula? So sorry about the lack of car, Alyssa's romance, Chris' school problems, the new supe on your job. I'm dreading that last one, myself. Today was our store manager's last day with us and I got all teary. I just pray her replacement will have the same nurturing personality she had as well as the business smarts.

Suzanne, you really didn't want to paint this weekend, anyway, did you?! LOL!!! Have fun playing with all your friends and enjoy having all that time off! Congrats on the new hires, too.

Hope you are able to find an appropriate new food for your Gwennie, Laine. Sorry the Iams isn't all it's been cracked up to be in the past. Ya happy with the outcome on Idol?

Kimmar, watched AI... when I saw the winner sing first, I was shocked (part of my theory from this year) when I saw the actually results, I was still shocked! I loved the bit with Clay though. So cute... and even though I think his hair is a bit too dark or dull looking, I like the new style on him. I love longer hair that isn't fake and sticking up all over the place

Lainey, I do want to paint! My days are so busy that I haven't had time. I like busy, but I don't like white walls. Rainy season is coming, I suppose we'll get to it then.

Boss lady told me yesterday that they hadn't cut my check because they needed to discuss my bonus. My bonus package was based on business growth, and obviously I didn't build any business at the first store. That said, I just checked my online paystub and found a nice bonus. Yay me! I'm looking forward to being in my own store and having the package kick in, though! Shhhh, I think it's getting Ed his iPod for Father's Day!

Yikes, have to get the kiddos off now!

Suzanne, you are like me, I want to paint! But my reasons for not doing so are totally different. I believe we *are* replacing the front door now. So, no painty until new door comes in I hate the back and forth thing.

But I will be going to get what I want to finish the cat thingy sometime soon. Luis wants the bottom carpeted. I was going to paint. We'll see who wins

I'm back. Kevin got Honor Roll all year, so he got a pin and a certificate. He gets to pick where we go for lunch today. I'd mentioned that I was picking them up and maybe we could do that-which was met with excitement. Guess it was a good idea!
