That was a cute movie :)

We're now watching the UC & Rutgers game. We decided the USC/Cal game wasn't all that interesting.

Thanks for answering Paula! I heard of the test, but never heard the name for it. The only suggestion I have with military is to NOT ENLIST in the *Army* (only). If someone wants to go into the Army, ROTC is the way to go. This comes straight from family who has both enlisted and were officers. They have a tendency to treat enlisted like crap and lie to them about what they will do. Luis' dad was a prime example of that :( Now that I've said that, which branch do you think would fit him? From all you've said I would make a guess at Navy or Air Force anyway ;)

Hi Paula.....isn't Elf the funniest movie? So is Chris interested in a specific branch of the military.

Elaine, I say let her try it on for a few minutes and then make her take it off....that should teach her. :rotfl:

Well, this game is crazy popcorn:: .....and my eyes really want to close.....I think I am heading upstairs to watch it end :happytv: ...and then bedtime for Betty :wave2:

Good Night!!!

not watching the game, not watching elf...and I took ASVAB and the only question I remember was the one where it asked what would you hit a dowel rod with...and I answered sledge hammer :lmao: apparently that was wrong :confused3 needless to say...the military didn't want me!!

Elaine...we wanted to eat at Liberty Tree but that was booked so we are at the Crystal Palace...not quite as nice as LT but it will do. We will be eating at LT another night.

I'm going to play around here for abit and then go to bed. I may pop back in again later! If not have a great night all!!

Chris' counselor told us that if Chris took the test he should specifically state "non combat" so that they would qualify him for other fields - we haven't talked much about it but I think he is thinking Coast Guard or Navy (which would make my dad very proud) - part of me think the regime and discipline would be great - another part worries that he does not like to be told what to do so who knows if he would make it..... I just knwo that he definitely needs to get out of this town and away from his friends asap.

Alyssa is totally disgusted with him too...

Quiet night at work - only 2 calls to follow up on at 11pm - glad of that seeing I'm back on at 7am tomorrow.

Tara - I ate at Liberty Tree for the first time last year - really liked it.

LOL, Betty, we could do that... I'm sure it would be a wee bit torturous for her :teeth:

I can't believe this UC/Rutgers game  The USC/Cal game is boring as all get out. I'm sure we'll stay up until the games are overwith though.

A dowl rod? Wouldn't it depend on the size of the rod? I would imagine a rubber mallet would work best on most, but I doubt the military would want me either :p

Tara I love Crystal Palace, I would just be upset if I didn't get turkey :rotfl: Seriously that should be a good place. I don't know if they will change the menu much, but there are always good meats, mashed potatos and the like there. Standard fixings IMO. Glad you are going to LTT at some point. I don't know if I've eaten there before or if it has just been ages for it.

I should take my benadryl so I can fall asleep a little easier. The OSU game had me quite worked up

Funny, I really was thinking Navy for him... not sure why but it sounded like it would be a good fit for him. Coast Guard isn't bad either. I seriously considered them for a while myself. I would think that in the Navy or Coast Guard they wouldn't be so harsh at basic, so maybe he could deal with it. Sometimes they need that type of a thing. If it doesn't work out, he could always try the Community Colleges until he gets a good GPA for a bigger school. Good luck though, I am sure it will work out!

I think I am going to log off for the night. See y'all later!

Nice afternoon, here, although we never made it to the grocery store. We did go to an "open house" for a new 55+ community they are building near here. They were offering a "Dusty Shoe Tour" of the 29,000 sq. ft. clubhouse which will house an indoor swimming pool. Offer me a pool and I am SO there! Got a free lunch out of it, too :teeth:

So, Tara, are you giving the Legos back to Jar or hiding them someplace else, now? ;) Glad the class went well and you got out at such a reasonable hour.

I wanna watch Elf, too! Paula, you're closest--I think I can be there in a couple of hours. If I bring the snacks, can you re-start it??!!

Laine, I'm free all day Wednesday and don't go in to work until 4 on Friday. Not doing much on Thursday, other than dinner, either! Feel free to give me a call. Oh, glad the game went so well!

Night, Betty! From the looks of the score, I think you can safely go on to sleep. With only 5 minutes left for Rutgers to make an additional 20 points, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Heading off to bed, now, myself. I'm working right after church tomorrow, so don't know if I will have a chance to check in. If not, hope everyone has a lovely day and I'll catch ya'll later. :grouphug:

Good morning - guess I'm the early riser today....thanks to work that is....

Beth - I had the snacks ready...where were you???

Well - I'm up and working and scolding Harley - this time of the morning is "mischief time".....she'll be napping soon I'm sure.

Working till 1:00 then watching football....

I hope everyone has a great day.

Very quick hi here... need to get off to church!

Bethie, thank you for your schedule. I'll make note of it in my phone. I am not sure if/when we will have free time, but I will most certainly call you if we have it!!!
Sounds like a neat community near by... free lunch is good too :teeth:

Sorry you had to be up so early Paula. I hope work will go by quickly and that you have a good afternoon. Which team do you root for?

We have church today and I might be doing laundry today instead of tomorrow since we leave at 4PM tomorrow.

We root for the New England Patriots - of course (we actually went to the game last Sunday!).

Honestly - football isn't really my "game" - I prefer hockey - but football is Jeffrey's favorite so I do watch with him and I am trying my best to understand the game.

Safe travels for you tomorrow Elaine...

Morning, all.

Unemployed yaya here-for another day. ;) Several of my coworkers were really sweet and gave me parting gifts. Boss did one more thing to tick me off. He blew off a delivery, but didn't bother to tell me. The guest kept calling to find out *when* his delivery would arrive. I found it in the freezer and drove the whole three miles to deliver it myself. This after the 4 f bomb day on Friday-that's like a 15 on the Richter scale in Ed's opinion.

So, some football games turned out the way y'all wanted them, eh? :teeth:

Kevin put his pencil in his ear and the eraser stayed. 51 bucks to get it out-just a little bit more than the Lego Star Wars 2 for the Game Cube he wanted.

Cub Scouts was fun last night-Neil had a massive freak out that he didn't win the raffle for the Rocket Launcher toy-Tara, I think you can relate. Oy. It is really nice to have others around who understand and before the child was hauled off to CPS, Kev's den leader took him outside and got him back in control. Then the boys went on a hay ride while we cleaned up the church.

Ends up, another boy in the pack has Asperger's. We suspected, but weren't sure. I mentioned my kiss on the cheek to one of the leaders and she commented that her son has it, too. I invited the family over-we commented on not ever going out because we don't think a babysitter can handle our sons.

Paula, another one here that considered the Coast Guard. I think that's a good route. Sometimes, discipline and direction from someone not related to you is much easier for our children to handle. Hope your feisty kitty takes a nap soon. Any snacks left?

Lainey, safe travels tomorrow. Cleaning here today, oh joy. Bummer that I don't live up that way that I might be able to visit with you!

Tara, I've only had LT at lunch, but I agree it's much better than CP. Yikes, just reminded me that I need to make my ressies NOW for friends wedding next month! Eeek

Bethie, if you're headed to Wegmans, get a vanilla muffin for me. :thumbsup2

Betty, is Elf good? I can't stand Will Ferrell, so there's been no desire to see that movie.

Sherry, Amanda, Todd, Kimmar, Jellybean and whoever else I might have missed- :wave2:

Suzanne

Morning!

Didn't go to church this morning cuz my tummy hurts. :( Ate too much junk last night. We ordered 300 wings!! :earseek: Had a blast watching the game. Soooo happy we won!! :yay: Junior's cousins new boyfriend is a Michigan fan  and we ragged on him all night. :teeth:

Elaine, hurry up and get that packing done!!

Beth, I want to see Happy Feet. Looks so cute and I love penguins. :teeth:

Amanda, hope you enjoyed your night out with Todd. :)

Betty, all that cleaning and the house was a mess after everyone left. :furious: Who knew a bunch of adults could be so messy? :confused3: :teeth:

 and puckerup: to all!!

Paula, wasn't 100% sure who you would root for. Location doesn't always matter. Luis is a Redskins fan and his dad is a KC fan. And in our case we have two to choose from in Ohio. I just never assume ;)

Suzanne, enjoy your day of unemployment ;) Sounds like you are good to be rid of that old boss. What a PITA!
I have my laundry started today. I'll pack it all up tomorrow. Oh as for Elf, I don't really care for Will Ferrell myself. He mostly annoys me... as does most of the newer SNL cast does. It was only slightly annoying, but in general very cute. Had that cheesey feel good type of ending as well. I can't tell you another Will Ferrell movie I've watched either and finished, so this has to be better than most.

Sherry, sorry you had an upset tummy. I know that happened to me after the Texas game... too much food from stress eating for me ;) Good luck with the mess.

Went to church and left for a while during communion. Just a moving song that apparently I couldn't handle singing so I slipped out. Now just hanging out while laundry is getting done.

Lainey, if it was "Eagles Wing", I can totally relate. I love the song but cannot sing it anymore.

Suzanne

Can't tell you the last time I heard or sung that song. Just not one my church does anymore. This was actually a song written by a priest who used to work at my church. He's an awesome song writer and no matter what, his songs really get to people. Beautiful stuff, and it gets me normally no matter what. This time I couldn't sing through it. I hope tonight will be better ;) We'll see how practice goes.

Evening guys,

Just finished our thanksgiving dinner with my brother and his family. Mom invited Jay to come  and he made sure he was in town for it. But I'm getting him...he is taking jarrod home tonight because we need to hit walmart and bj's and it will be past his bedtime when we get home. So jay is oging to get him to school tomorrow. hehehehe that's going to be funny!

Anyway, have a good night all!

tara

Tara, good luck tonight! I do hope that y'all have a good time no matter what.

Luis talked to his mom... she did have a turkey breast for us... no sign of mashed potatos. Luis told her that I will be glad to make it for everyone. She only was going to have potato salad... that part I so do not get :confused3

Morning!

Page 4!!

Getting my hairs done at 4. :yay: I need it bad.

Elaine, I can't imagine having potato salad instead of mashed potatoes. So weird.
Hope you have a safe trip.

Morning all...

My 'date' with Todd on Saturday was terrific. We tried a new restaurant called Hoggy's. We don't eat a lot so we shared an appetizer and dessert. We got some Christmas shopping completed, both when out and online. Todd completed a little more yesterday.

As for Sunday, I didn't feel well. It was our church's Thankgiving dinner. I didn't serve, which I always do. I feared giving someone the cold I felt coming on. After leaving church I went home and to bed. Other than running to Kroger's later that night for lunch items, some Thanksgiving things and bags for the homeless meals...that was all I did was sleep. Todd bagged all 60 homeless lunches for me  true love.

Still not feeling 100% today. Doesn't it always figure that when you have a lot to do and vacation coming....

Elaine...our house does 3 types of potatoes (mashed, sweet and hashbrown casserole).

Sherry...I need a haircut, but it isn't going to happen till after vacation. Too busy before and my hairdresser is out on Friday.

Paula...my nephew just signed up for the Marines, he leaves after Graduation next year.

Tonight is my last semi-restful night. I have some cleaning to do, but starting tomorrow night I am in full blast mode. Anyone want to come over to help roll out pie crust, peel apples and potatoes, bake cookies, mix the casserole dishes, get the appetizers ready?????? Oh and if someone could go to the gym for me, that would also be great :rolleyes1

Good morning all! Looks like everyone had a busy Sunday :)

Sherry, glad you got your hairs done! I always love at least getting a cut. Feeling any better today (I hope)?

Amanda, sorry you aren't feeling that good. I hope the cold passes. Sounds like you had a very good date night on Friday! Oh and the three potatos sounds great to me! Next year I am picking a better location ;)

We're pretty much all packed. I forgot to put a case for my contacts in my bag, but I'll do that in a few. I have knitting, cards, and my cell phone to keep me busy :)
