I was thinking it might be something I plug into my camera and download to and then i wouldn't need to have more than one card. But I'm thinking that is not how it works.

Mine is very similar, but has a cord with a USB plug. It reads, and Ed just told me it writes. I have an HP all in one and an HP laptop-of course, the all in one reads my cards (compact flash) but the only type that my laptop doesn't read is the Compact flash!

Tara,

It looks to me like you put the card in the reader. The reader plugs into the USB port like a flash drive, instead of a cable into the USB port.

Tara, you are right, it does NOT hold pics for you. It just makes it easier to read and write to via the computer. They do make portable hard drives that you can plug into and download to, but they aren't that cheap. Memory is probably cheaper

Suzanne, I bet you have one similar to mine. I actually have one that can read all the types of cards I have in addition to one that reads CF. My laptop has a built in too but of course it reads all but CF. Not only can you write to them, you can use that as a jump drive to transfer any files.

Comes in handy when you need it like a floppy disk

Hey Dave!! Long time no see!!

Okay i understand how it works now. I was hoping it was something that didn't have to have a computer right then and there. I just transfer my pics to the computer by plugging in the camera and downloading them directly to iPhoto. I won't be taking a computer with me for my trip so i don't need one of those!

Thanks you guys! I knew I could get quick responses here. Oh here is a REALLY stupid question...I could look it up in google but I'll ask here....I have a 512mb card and I saw ones that were 1.0 Gig....is a gig a lot bigger than the 512 or just a little bigger? It cost more money so i figure it has to hold more but not sure how much more! thanks!

okay, so the test area in the kitchen of the new color is hideous! It would be great for a kids bedroom as an accent wall....not for a kitchen wall!! so we're going back to the peach/coral kind of colors and going to do it in one of those tones. I still think we could do it in a more mossy green but mom has decided that if we have tried two greens and they don't work, we might as well go with something totally different. I'm just glad i bought the quart and not an entire gallon of this stuff. It looks so pretty in the can!!

off to find some breakfast for myself. I'm back to trying to lose weight and it makes me crabby about fixing breakfast...everything I like for breakfast is sweet and calorie laden! Oh well, gotta do something about my increasing waist line!!

Haven't read, but figured I chime in with the sharing of the breakfast:

Slow start today. I've been up since 7, took care of pups-got paper took the neighbor's their paper all in our rainy a.m. Just finished my oatmeal and blueberry b-fast and on my 2nd cuppa.

Tara, hope Ethan is better. Are you able to take back your “paint samples” to the store? That way you can keep trying until you get the moss green you want. Or, just have a wall of “samples” and it will be the patch style greens. Probably looking very smart! Good luck with finding that “healthy-er” breakfast. PD that you get those extra pounds lost, but I don’t want to find them this time.

Elaine, sounds like your project is progressing nicely. Who gets to put all the stuff you had to move back in place? Hope you are not too tired.

Suzanne, when will you find time to finish those short rooms? You seem so busy; I think it is a good kind of busy though. So much to do, so little time to do it!

Yesterday I managed 9 miles in my early a.m. wog. A bit sore today. We took Tedsbird for a spin and enjoyed the ride. He needed to decompress and felt much better after. We were going to bicycle ride today, not sure since it seems a bit rainy. DH was able to sleep in a bit after all his mixed up nights/days b/c of work I'm glad he was able to catch up a bit.

Off to see what's doing for the day now.

Today is cleaning day. Yay.

Lily, I have Tuesday off, Ed does as well. We'll probaby prep a room and then do it labor day weekend. The holiday weekends seem to work well for it. I like thinkgs busy, lol.

Tara, I'm with you. I don't eat eggs, so it limits my breakfast choices. A 1 gig card is roughly twice as big as those 512meg cards.

Kimmar, sounds like a filling breakfast there. I'll take a cup of the coffee, please. Next week, a DD opens on the route to work. Wondering how many days I'll end up going to the Drive Through for a cup!

Lainey, of course they don't take the card I use! It's Murphy's fault. My portable reader is only for CF, got it for 14 bucks at WalMart. That was far better than spending the money on the proprietary Nikon cable.

Lily, wow 9 miles. I'm all about the sleeping in, good that you're giving Ted the extra shut eye.

Found out that my great aunt died so I think I'll be out there on Weds for the service. This is the same aunt who would take me to a pub of sorts, give me a Whatchamacallit, a couple scratch off lottery cards and sit and talk while she drank a beer. One of the few in my dad's family who had anything to do with us as well.

Sounds like she was a GREAT aunt in more ways than one. My condolences to you and your family.
