Welcome to the Kingdom Little Prince- a Feb 21, Baby’s First Trip Report- new 1/24!

Following! As a mom of a now 11 week old who doesn’t sleep well, I am in awe of your ability to pack up your baby and travel at such a young age. I have struggled to get mine out to door to visit grandparents!

Aw congrats! I don't think I knew you were expecting- last I remember you'd been planning a sister trip I think?

Robert was a much better sleeper as a smaller baby than he is now lol so hopefully it'll be the opposite for you. Our car was so insanely full of stuff for this trip 🤣

Yeah I kept the pregnancy on the down low online. The sisters trip was pushed because of the baby and an international move (one of my sisters) but will hopefully happen in a year or two!

I'm here and thrilled to see you started this. You are so lucky that Robert was so good in the car and is such a good sleeper. Sorry to hear he has to have more surgery but hope all is well. Can't wait to read more about your first time parenting in Disney adventures.

We'd finally arrived on Disney property and I was squealing with excitement as we pulled into our resort for this trip- one of my favorite's and Mike's absolute favorite- Coronado Springs!

Shortly before our trip, I'd been stalking the "mystery" deals on priceline and hotwire and found one for an amazing price that I was 99.99999% positive was Coronado Springs. For some reason the deal was about $50 cheaper on Mike's account than mine so I had him book it and I was right!

We parked in check in parking and headed into the tower.

We knew chances were slim that our room would be ready since it was 10 am but decided it didn't hurt to check since we'd prefer to unload the 9000 items from our car. Plus, we left Robert in his pajamas for the ride so he needed a change anyway.

Robert wasn't quite sure what mommy was so excited about.

51805960871_e3ff2e1b91.jpg

It was a short line at the pretty check-in desk but no luck with a room yet. We did get a 1st visit button for Robert though.

51806683120_03f069a26d.jpg

I showed Robert the pretty lights too and I think he kinda liked them.

51805001137_b6ec32dac7.jpg

I love this lamp wall on the way in/out of the tower so I quickly introduced Robert to a Disney concept- taking pictures in front of pretty walls.

51806651670_4f23f68086.jpg

There was no question what Robert's first park had to be.

Magic Kingdom!

When we got there, we found we weren't the only ones.

51806651630_50fb793a0e.jpg

It was 10:40 am also though and probably prime-time to be heading into the parks.

20 minutes later, we were parked and on our way into the kingdom!

51804970452_7176b0c9a2.jpg

The line for the monorail looked pretty long so we went for the ferry.

51805929796_49249cde6c.jpg

I see you pretty castle! :lovestruc

51806651640_79c12b28c2.jpg

I was buzzing with excitement for my baby boy to see the Magic Kingdom for the first time.

Well.

He fell asleep.

51806041063_b2e8aec7ac.jpg

Kid can't hang.

The good (and bad) thing about babies this small- their sleep and wake cycles are comically short. He was awake 5 minutes later.

51806279749_37e1c5958a.jpg

We made it into the park at 11:30 and I couldn't have been happier.

51806647400_5f8d1b6522.jpg

First order of business- feed the baby.

And what better place to feed the baby than in the hub grass staring at Cinderella Castle?

51806279764_f4a2d8cdd6.jpg

Logically, probably somewhere with shade but excitement had won out over logic.

51806647345_daf3bbf318.jpg

Once his little belly was full, we made our way to our first photopass stop.

And caught a bit of a passing calvalcade.

51806647365_596147a868.jpg

It seemed like it was about time to hit Robert's first ride in Disney!

After a couple more pictures though.

I posted this photo to social media with the caption "Welcome to the kingdom little prince" and there the trip report title was born!

You may (probably not though) remember in my PTR (RIP) that I agonized over what the perfect first ride would be for Robert and decided on It's A Small World.

Well.

This was post-COVID and pre-Genie+ Disney and the line was LONG. And Mike hates IASW so there was no chance he was waiting in it.

So, we changed course. Spoiler alert- he never even went on IASW this trip :sad2:.

Now what would his first ride be?

51805922746_a261e1eb91.jpg

It was a decent length line and social distancing was still a thing so it looked longer but only took about 20 minutes.

Someone doesn't really look impressed.

I'd love to go back to this moment right here.

Wooo we're on the ride!

Looks like a hit to me (I mean he didn't cry so 🤷‍♀️)

51806276504_ee106635e1.jpg

One ride and one calvalcade later and it was time to head out of the park to lunch. Park touring with a baby sure is inefficient lol

Yeah I kept the pregnancy on the down low online. The sisters trip was pushed because of the baby and an international move (one of my sisters) but will hopefully happen in a year or two!

Gotcha! Enjoy every single snuggle because they grow too too fast and soon you'll have a toddler who never stops moving lol

Thanks for reading! We are very lucky, he's overall a very good baby. Parenting in Disney is definitely an evolving adventure lol.

On Priceline, what tells you it is Coronado Springs?

Hotwire is easier cause on the app, you can draw a circle around the area you want to look in so you can literally circle one resort and figure it out. Either way though, you can narrow it down. The neighborhood has to be Walt Disney World-bonnet creek and there won’t be any resort fees. Again, it was easier when DME was a thing cause airport shuttle helped narrow it down too. Sometimes the reviews and rating help too.

Robert and I are currently quarantining. Covid finally got to us. Luckily, we're doing well. I feel like I have the flu and the worst sore throat of my life. Robert had a fever for a few days but otherwise just some congestion and a dry cough but still eating and causing chaos. I'm hoping to get some good Dis time in during his naps this week because I don't have the energy to do much else!
----------------------------------------
One calvalcade, one ride, one bottle and many photos later, we were turning right back around to the front of the park to go to lunch.

But not without more pictures first.

You see,

I have a picture taking addiction. It's made worse by Disney trips. It's been made much worse since having an adorable (in my unbiased opinion) baby. So with my adorable baby on a Disney trip- it was madness.

And also, Cinderella's carriage was out with a photopass photographer and I'd never seen that before so there was 0 chance I wasn't stopping.

51806702750_ca9082d64a.jpg

51806093163_8fb7af3f75.jpg

Then, we really made our way out of the park.

Past the train station construction scrim.

51806033263_8e497c376b.jpg

And over to the resort boats!

51806033193_69c80f9886.jpg

The unfortunate thing about traveling by boat in WDW with a stroller is sometimes you have to fold that stroller and sometimes you do not. It depends on the size of the boat. For the resort boats in the middle of the day, they are small and you do in fact have to fold your stroller.

Sorry sleepy head and hedgehog, time to get up.

51805922066_705ce64bea.jpg

In just about 15 minutes after leaving MK, we pulled up to the Wilderness Lodge.

51806643920_883e2bac9e.jpg

Have no fear, this duo were happy to return to their carriage and to their slumber.

51805921971_b2c8710632.jpg

I was hoping to have lunch at Geyser Point today but for reasons I don't remember, we didn't lol. Instead, we booked a reservation at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We've eaten here before and enjoyed the all-you-can-eat skillets.

Will you believe me when I tell you I don't have a single picture to prove this happened though?

Literally not one picture from lunch.

I don't understand it either.

Perhaps Robert was fussy.

Alas, I've chosen some highlights from previous visits to fill this void.

In 2019, Mike drank his soda so fast, he was awarded a refill in this giant glass and challenged by our waitress to finish this one.

51812337157_2eaa9ec8ff.jpg

Well, challenging that man is a sure way to get him to do something so he did and was awarded a coveted fastpass.

51814022485_c5893937ec.jpg

You would've heard these stories if someone ever finished their trip reports :rolleyes1

Here's some food pictures from when we went in 2020 at 9 pm because I was pregnant and didn't want anything to eat until a sudden craving for pulled pork took over.

51813645819_4a8467c3e4.jpg

51814022530_aa81bfb1fe.jpg

Anyway, back to 2021 where you just have to take my word that we ate there.

After lunch, we went to look in the gift shop and purchased a stroller fan for the infant we were woefully unprepared to protect from heat and sun.

51806643670_7ffda922c9.jpg

For anyone taking a baby, a stroller fan is a necessity 99% of the time. This one from Disney is terrible lol. Very cute but barely blows any air around. Once we became (slightly) better at the whole parenting thing, we ordered one from amazon before our second trip and I love it! I'll share the link if anyone wants it. It's USB rechargeable and also has a light on it for nighttime and it's fantastic.

Some more Wilderness Lodge pictures because it's gorgeous and I hope to stay here one day (particularly at Christmas time).

51806276104_0bc9268a1b.jpg

I have a picture of an empty hallway and not one picture of lunch. #priorities
51806643730_5291bd8601.jpg

Oh look, the hallway isn't empty anymore. You're welcome.

51805921766_19f0dfb860.jpg

If they sold these light fixtures, I would unquestionably buy some for my home.

51806275984_7b5438e74c.jpg

We made our way back to the boat dock to go back to Magic Kingdom!

Robert seems a little confused by all this.

"Ok guys I guess this is fun":love:

51806643475_5a73e877b9.jpg

What a gorgeous view! Wouldn't you like to be there right now? I sure would!

51806643315_4fa9f68509.jpg

Hi little baby toes!

51806032508_c3615d46c1.jpg

Soon enough, we were back in Magic Kingdom! Would we get to go on more than one ride this time?

Sorry to hear you guys got Covid! What a bummer. Hopefully you recover quickly!

Also, I love love love the baby toes. What an absolute cutie. I’m still in awe of how much you are doing with him so little. He seems to really be enjoying himself!

Also I have the same hedgehog, my daughter isn’t sure what to make of it. I thought she would love it, but mostly she seems to not care if it exists…

thank you! We’re on the mend now. Luckily our symptoms weren’t terribly severe but it was still miserable for a few days.

I think he enjoyed himself! As much as a baby that little can lol. We tried to give him as many experiences we could during his first year considering he’s a baby and we’re in a pandemic lol.

I bought that hedgehog on a whim in target. Everyone in my FB due date group was raving about it and it was sold out everywhere and I saw it on a wrong shelf in target so I grabbed it and Robert was obsessed. The vibrations were soothing to him I guess lol. For a long time, that hedgehog came everywhere we did. Now he’ll randomly pick him up and hug him but the attachment faded lol.

Wow, that is great. I didn't realize they offered different accounts different prices though. We've used this in Vegas with great luck but haven't tried it in Disney yet

He so looks like you in this picture. Very Courtney look on his face :-)

I was buzzing with excitement for my baby boy to see the Magic Kingdom for the first time.

Well.

He fell asleep.

51806041063_b2e8aec7ac.jpg
:rotfl: Isn't that always the way. We have these grandiose ideas of how our kids will react to seeing the castle and then we get sleep.

I posted this photo to social media with the caption "Welcome to the kingdom little prince" and there the trip report title was born!
❤❤❤

Looks like a hit to me (I mean he didn't cry so 🤷‍♀️)
I'd call that a success. Though he looks so little. I would have been crying and petrifed the whole time :rotfl:

I didn't realize they did that either and I'm not even sure what made us check on his account since I just usually book everything lol

He so looks like you in this picture. Very Courtney look on his face :-)

🥰 🥰

Thank you! It was miserable for a few days but thankfully we were not more sick. We finished the 2 minutes we were allotted to quarantine and have returned to work now.

I saw this picture before I read your caption and had to laugh. Missing pics of lunch but wow look a that hallway :rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl: I was laughing so hard looking at my camera roll, judging my picture priorities.

Following! Love this report, I now have a 5 week old boy :lovestruc and even though I have no plans to take him on a big trip so young I love being able to see what it might look like! Can't wait for more!

I didn't realize you'd started a trip report! I'm here now and am loving reading about Robert's first trip. I think Dumbo is a great first Disney ride.
