Welcome package

I've never ordered from the florist, but I have seen floral creations being delivered, and they have always looked amazing. I've also sen the stuff they THROW out when clearing banquets and such- Once a CM gave me a handful of beautiful long stem roses, because a wedding dinner was over!

If you stay at some club level rooms, you may get a small flower vase in your room. Like at CR, you may get one orchid. Halwwyas at deluxes also sometimes have pretty florals.

Beyond that, I HAVE ordered from the special menu available at the deluxes. I once ordered the AKL chocolate logo - I think that's what it's called- and I m not sure they still make it. It was pretty amzing - with hand molded chocolate animals! Really neat!

Most deluxes will do something like chocolate covered strawberries. Pricey, but very cool. (maybe $5 each? plus delivery and gratuity)

The only other thign, was that we were on club level that same night. With club level, you REALLY don't need any extra in room food!

I've also seen the big baloon bouquets delivered at the values and mods. Those were also very cute. (though I did not get to peek at any of the other goodies they were bringing in).

I'd say the items are priey, but high quality. If it is one of the baskets that has ordinary snack food, I probably would not bother. Flowers, special foods yes.

Me, I tend to opt to spend the $$ upgrading a dinner, or a better room. The extra fees make such thigns extravagent, but if you want to do something memorable, Disney delivers!

Since I see this is your first trip- I'd probably skip it. The room will likely be amazing unto itself, but it depends on your likes and budget, and maybe where youa re staying. I have heard the Xmas tree is worth doing at Xmas.

Thanks so much for the advice. The more I've thought about it, the more I'm leaning towards skipping it and using the money I would have spent (the one I was looking at is $315) towards our next visit. Heck, that $315 is 1/7 of an entire trip :)

I did the princess in room celebration and the Discover Disney Magic package, and just so you know, unless your in a CL room they can't have in-room packages ready on check in day. They can have smaller items delivered to bell services and they will bring it to your room though.

The in-room package was $498 and the Discover Disney Magic was $180ish.

Everything was amazing and my kids loved it, but I don't think it's something I would do again, it was definitely something awesome for our first trip though, made it all the more special.

Here's some more info on the packages I did. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45406779&postcount=4

Thank GOD I saw this topic and your replies guys before doing anything..

Thanks a lot for the great suggestions

I was thinking about ordering the blue soft sided cooler with snacks or our upcoming trip. It's only $40ish and the cooler will be a useful souvenir.

I had done the Welcome package DD's 1st visit. It was done so beautifully! It was expensive but DD, then 4, LOVED it! It was worth every penny. It is set up to seem as if Mickey sent it & DD made sure she thanked him at her next meet n greet with him. So sticken cute! We still use everything from it 3 years later, the blanket & popcorn bowls. DD still loves her Mickey & Minnie plush. I have used the Florist ever trip since, even if for just flowers. I would love to do the princess package or even the new halloween package they have but, DH would kill me:upsidedow

I had this cooler sent to my family for their first trip last year. The snacks were awesome, and they use the cooler at home all the time. Its actually a pretty decent value for that price, with a souvie to take home that you will actually sue in the future.
