We had a lazy start to the day with Dad not getting up until 7:45 and me getting up about an hour later. After a wash and brush up we went out and made the short journey to IHOP.

Dad had the butterscotch rocks pancakes, coffee and orange juice, I had the pancake platter with bacon strips and apple juice and the total bill was $24.02.

Suitably stuffed we made our way towards the Orange County Regional History Center where the Jim Henson exhibit was in town for a few weeks. We had some fun with the sat-nav on the way as it insisted that the exit off the I-4 was going to be on the left so I made my way over to the left lane, only to find it was on the right. I missed the next exit as well as I couldn’t get back over quick enough but we made it in the end and parked up in the public library car park where you get two hours parking free with admission to the History Center.

The Jim Henson exhibit showcased all of his work from his start in TV commercials, through to his Muppets and live action work and included original Kermit and Rowlf puppets and original sketches, ideas and story-boards. There was no photography allowed in the exhibition but here are photos of the gallery guide and souvenir ticket.

After walking around the exhibit we went to the International Drive Flea Market near Sweet Tomatoes and had a wander around there before driving the length of International Drive and over to Premium Outlets where we went to the Disney Outlet as Dad was looking for a Grumpy plush but we had no joy at all.

From there we went back out to Wal-Mart where I got a pair of trainers and underwear  and we topped up our supply of water and bagels before returning to the studio for about 2:45.

We spent the afternoon in the studio, although Dad did wander over to the main building to get some more cash out, and on the way back the heavens opened again although he managed to find some cover.

At around 5:30 we decided it was time to get something to eat and we both agreed that we would go back to Sweet Tomatoes. Once again we started off with a large plate of salad then I had the Indian lentil soup, corn tortilla soup and postole with pork, while Dad had the potato and leek soup, vegetable soup and frozen yoghurt.

As the traffic on the I-4 towards Disney had looked bad on the way up we took the scenic route coming back, coming down Turkey Lake Road and stopped off for petrol. As the gauge was between empty and a quarter full we pre-paid for $30 worth of petrol but the tank was full at $21.52 so Dad went back in and got change.

We were back in the studio for 7:30 and spent the evening relaxing before going to bed at the usual time. Plans for tomorrow were to start off at Magic Kingdom and then go to Downtown Disney where Characters In Flight was supposed to be opening.

Day 8

I just stumbled on your TR and I am really enjoying it! Can't wait to read the rest!

Welcome along, thanks for reading. :goodvibes

Sounds like quite a relaxing afternoon, your meal at Sweet Tomatoes sounds lovely, but then again so did your breakfast!, I love pancakes but this is another place that we've never tried :confused3

Sorry your Dad couldn't manage to find the Grumpy plush, did he find one before you left?

No he didn't Karen. :sad2: We tried a couple of the Disney outlets and all over the parks but it looks like Snow White is too old of a film now as, apart from collectibles and hoodies, there wasn't much Grumpy merchandise about at all.

You are really selling Sweet Tomatoes to me David - are you on commission?!

David, even as I'm enjoying your reports I'm amazed at how thoroughly fleshed out they are knowing that you wrote these on-site. Your days all seem so full and you claim that you slept at least some every night, it must be that among your talents is the ability to record and compose quickly--not just quickly, but well. Even though I started writing and posting soon after my Disneyland trip last summer, it took three months to finish the last installment, so I am aware of the massive effort a complete report takes. My hat's off to you.

Thank you Susan. I just write down (type) what we do and I'm flattered that people enjoy the reports so much.

We decided on the first day that the theme of this holiday was to be 'relaxation', hence the title, and it was during those relaxation periods in the afternoons in the studio that I did most of the typing.

The Jim Henson exhibit sounds great, i'm a huge Muppets fan.. Wonder if it'll still be touring anywhere in October ;) Had to laugh at the underwear from Walmart, my bf stocks up on it too!

What a lovely different day. I would have loved to see that exhibition, it sounds fascinating.

Laur's xx

Another great day. I love your TR so far:thumbsup2

Sometimes Sat Navs cause more problems than they solve!

They can do but as long as you use a bit of common sense and don't panic you can usually get back on track without a problem.

Another lovely day and nice to read about different things to do.

My Mam bought my niece a Grumpy plush just from a Disney Store over here.

I think it is nice to just relax over in Orlando, once you have been a few times it is so much easier to do just that, as you know exactly what you want to do.
