Yes, I know, this may be the most ridiculous question ever posted on this board. But I'm trying to figure out how far I'm going to crash this diet during our trip next month.

Points Information on the Mickey Ice Cream pop would also be appreciated, of course, as well as any other suggestions on how to eat "moderately", calorie-wise, while touring the World.

Awaiting your answers as I munch my carrot stix.......

I wish I could help, but having gained 6 pds on our 10 day WDW trip, I don't think you'll find my advise usefull. lol. I figured that I don't go to WDW every day and my weight will come off eventually, so what the hey? I have alot of hard work infront of me to loose what I gained, but it was worth it. Great restaurants, great food, great time! Enjoy.:p

Maybe you can get in touch with Disney Dining or Guest Services and ask for nutritional information on the foods you are interested in, then figure up your points that way? (If nobody can help you here)..
Good luck!

I'll give it try for you. I know that a regular banana is 2 points. I can't imagine the chocolate covering that banana is more than 2 or 3 points (unless it's on there really thick), so I'd guess 5 points total to be conservative. A single Lindt chocolate truffle is 2 points and I can't imagine it would take the chocolate from 2 of those truffles to cover a banana. And, on the plus side, you can count a chocolate covered banana as one of your fruits for the day!

And please, don't comment on the fact that I know how many points a Lindt truffle has in it - LOL!!!!!

Have a great time!

Sorry.... I HAD to laugh, Izzy. You really knew the points to a Lindt Chocolate Truffle??!! That's sooooo good.

Addressing your question, Flagal, I'm in the same situation you are, hoping not to gain too much while on vacation. (Especially since we are going just prior to the holidays and I'm hoping to keep my weight in check.) I've found that if I stray from counting points, even for just a week or 10 days, I gain 6-8 pounds -- which then takes me almost a MONTH to lose!

I think that if you plan on eating a low-cal, high fiber breakfast to start, (maybe cereal and fruit, or a bagel, for example) it will give you some energy for the parks and you won't be tempted to snack in the late morning. If you DO need to snack, pick up an apple or fruit cup from one of the fruit stands.

At the buffets, don't be tempted! You KNOW what's good and what's bad!!

Try to stick with what's been working for you so far -- do you eat a high fiber cereal in the morning, or fruit? Maybe a turkey sandwich or salad for lunch? I think if you keep as close to your current daily menu, it will be easier for you to calculate your points. You know all of the things that work -- keep an eye on portion sizes, drink lots and lots of water.

Also, don't forget all of the WALKING you will be doing during the day!! Those bonus points will add up quickly. If you stick to the low fat/low cal/high fiber options during the day (with minimal snacking), you should be GOLDEN for dinner. Think of all of those points you'll have for a nice dinner! (Just nix the bread, butter and sauces.)

Of course there will be those people who say, "Hey you're on vacation. Live it up!". You can do that too. However, I've fallen off the points wagon a few times, enough to know that it's not worth it. When you have a goal in mind, and you take a week off from the program, it sets you back a month. That is so demoralizing. It will be much more rewarding to go back to your WW meeting having maintained (or gained only a few pounds) during your Disney vacation. You will feel really good about yourself.

HEY, you might even LOSE weight. All of that walking works to your advantage!!

Good luck!!

Having lost 71.5 pounds on the WW diet, so far, I am points conscious as well. I agree with Izzy on the probable point count of the chocolate covered banana but must add that the 2 mile walk you have to take to get to it would take off at least 1 or 2 activity points so I say - go for it!!! Now, can someone tell me the points on a turkey leg? LOL

Wish someone would compile a WW list of points on all the DW foods. Would give me some pointers on our upcoming trip. Have never gained any weight at DW so far so will probably survive this trip as well. Am taking my scales with me and plan to weigh each and everyone of the 12 days we are there!

In the meantime Flagal, just enjoy yourself and hope for the best when you return home. Might check out the Dole Whips as I would hope and think that they are relatively low in points and well worth each and every single one. LOL

In the points of foods at DW. I'll have to do some researching...just having dropped 45 pounds using WW Online, I'd hate to get to vacation only to gain, however, it WOULD be only temporary AND, like mentioned, tempered with a the activity points, I think it'll be ok!

But OUCH on those Mickey bars...I don't think I could enjoy one now knowing that they are 350 calories! LOL

I absolutely love those frozen bananas at WDW. I too am on WW, and will be going to WDW Dec3-10, so I'm really trying to be good now. I think I'd award 5 points to the bananas just to be on the safe side allowing for variations in the size of the bananas and the amount of chocolate covering them.

WOW! This is all great info!

here's my plan so far:

Breakfast: Get some sort of boiling/hot water device in my room - either a coffeepot or a microwave - and be sure to have oatmeal as my first meal.

Lunch (at least once or twice) Take one of those single serving bags of albacore tuna I found in Costco into the park , along with my whole wheat bread (shh!). That, and a salad with lofat dressing i'll purchase, will be a great 4- or 5 point lunch.

We tend to do our big meal at dinner. The Cape May Seafood Buffet is my favorite - you can eat LOTS of clams for very few points as long as you take it easy on the butter sauce. I take mine a teaspoon at a time and I don't care who sees me measure. (Anyone know anything about points for steamed clams?)

I'll try the Dole Whips for snacks - points, anyone? and I'll have at least one banana. To be honest, I can live without the Mickey Ears if I can keep remembering what my goal is. Also, for some reason, I hate the taste of the water from the fountains, so I'll bring one big bottle in per day and buy the rest. I also take the teeny-tiny boxes of raisins - they're great little pick-me-ups.

Keep those suggestions coming, folks! I agree - there will and should be splurges, because vacations are about some special treats, but I don't want to give up the progress I've made. Losing weight isn't easy.......congrats to all of you who have managed so far!!

And if you haven't checked out the links, you should. Just got to the first one and it's terrific, especially Jennifer's article. Thanks, Tammy!

Tammy,

According to WW Online, 1/2 cup of cooked clams is 2 points. I'm not a clam eater, so don't know how much that really is...but clams are small to begin with, right?

I'm a huge shrimp eater which I can have 4 "bigguns" for 1 pt. Gotta love that!

We always eat two meals a day in the room (taking our own small microwave), more for convenience than anything else but that helps a bunch with watching your diet IMHO. Most of the counter service places offer carrots sticks instead of fries with the sandwiches.

When eating at a sit down restaurant I am checking out the menus and marking best choices and plan to request less meat and more veggies with my entrees. They are very accomadating.

You can earn exercise points easily there and can build up 2-4 per hour just walking around (according to your weight) so that can help a bunch. My DH is a big eater and I use it to my advantage by just having a bite of his snacks, satisfies my curiousity without blowing all my points.

Best wishes for a fantastic trip. I will be there from November 5th-17th.

Please post the ideas that worked for you and I will try to do the same when we return to help others.
