My DSIL needs to lose about 25, and I'd like to lose 5, and then maintain (can't tell you how many times I've lost and regained those 5 - 10 lbs, ugh).

Would weight watchers be good, and for us together?

Also, what is the best way to do it? Its on line now right? Didn't I see ads on TV to join free (thats probably over, as I haven't seen it lately)

Anyone here with good experience or advice?

Of course I'd like to save as much money as possible :) so whats the best budget way to do it?

THANKS all!

the current online special waives the sign up fee if you sign up for 3 months. i signed up on sunday and it was about $50. if you only need to lose 5 lbs, you could sign up for 1 account for your DH, and you could just use the site for reference and track everything on paper.

Sent you a PM....but I have been doing the program since 1-1-11 online and LOVE the new Points Plus. I lost 8 pounds my first week (have 25 to lose). I like the new program and how it tries to steer you from prepackaged, processed food.

The key to WW is to journal journal journal and be accountable. I love the fact that you can eat whatever you want. Last Friday I had pizza and 1 light beer....still lost weight.

WW is GREAT! I just joined and they are actually waiving the sign up fee until the beginning of March I think. There is a lady in my meeting that has lost 204lbs. and is featured in People magazine!

If you want to maintain your weight, you might consider joining at a center. Once you hit your goal weight, you become lifetime, and you are free as long as you maintain your goal weight and weigh in once a month. It is a great way to stay accountable and keep off that weight! I have been lifetime for 1 1/2 years, and my weight is staying right at my goal.

The new Points Plus program is terrific!

I can't speak for weight watchers because it's been years since I've done it but I started using mynetdiary.com. I heard about the app on the news because the PC Mike guy said it was the best weight loss app he'd ever seen. The app is a one time $2.99 fee but the website is free. I LOVE IT so far!! I am awful at keeping track of my food but with the app, I can scan the barcode for what I ate, it adds it to my journal, deducts it from my allotted calories, plus a whole lot more. I could go on and on about it but even if it's not for you, maybe someone else reading this could use it. Hubby is using it as well. I've lost 7 pounds since Jan. 3rd, and I normally SUCK at losing weight!! It's really fantastic and super cheap!!! Hope this might help someone else!!

If you gain 2 lbs of muscle and keep it you will loose 2.5 pounds a year every year....

So when you think of maintaining that weight try and gain a little muscle and reverse the cycle...

I joined WW last week! I love the meetings. Its only 9.00 a week if you do the monthly pass. Well worth and really works! I HIGHLY reccommend it! Fruits & Veggies are 0 points and that is awesome!

I am using an I Phone App called LoseIt to track calories and exercise credits. It's great. You set a goal and post your weight every day or two. It shows progress on a graph and much more.

Go to Sparkpeople - it's free - for diet and exercise advice. And visit the WISH boards section of the Disboards. There is currently a Biggest Loser challenge going on, two teams - Team Mickey and Team Donald. I am a proud member of Team Donald and lost 10 pounds my first week. A lot of support and encouragement. It is currently week 2 of the challenge and is running until May 21 - or around there.

I'm glad WW is steering people away from processed foods - does that include the processed foods they sell at meetings or sell in grocery stores??

I hit my 'goal' (WW goal- not my personal goal) about 4 years ago. I haven't been back since then. I am still within a couple of pounds of it, but want to lose about 10-15 more. If I can get off the couple of pounds, what costs will I incur for rejoining?

I just joined WW online and I am loving it. I have lost 2.5 lbs so far this week. It's easy to follow the plan and I really find that it is working for me. I know how many points I get for each day and that makes me think about what I am eating. If it costs me to many points I try to replace it with a better choice. I am eating my daily points and am full and satisfied each day. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. I chose to sign up for the three months and at that point will decide if I need to continue my subscription, I have a feeling that I'll keep doing it if I keep seeing these results.
