Weigh in: Does anyone else have good week/bad week?

I've been on weight watchers for 4 weeks now. Although I am not complaining, I need to understand why it's a great weight loss every other week? Does any one else have this pattern?

Week 1 - 6.8 lbs.
Week 2 +1.4 lbs.
Week 3 - 6.8 lbs.
Week 4 - 0.8 lbs.

In total, I lost 13.2 lbs. which equates to over 3 lbs. a week. But is my body off?

Help, please
 
Knock on wood I haven't had a gain yet, but I do notice a distinct pattern in my loss. I tend to go 4 weeks with a 2-3 pound loss per week, then I have two weeks where I either maintain or lose 1 pound over the two weeks. Then the loss picks up again. Everyone is different.
 
Good week/Bad week?? It's the story of my life!!

My pattern has been somewhat similar to yours. I'll have a good week with a 3-4 pound (or more) loss and then follow it up by maintaining or losing very little (even small gains a couple of times when the BF shows up). It can be frustrating, but I have decided that everyone's body must lose differently. As long as I average 1-2 pounds per week, I don't worry about it anymore.
 
Wow...a little over three pounds a week is a great average!

I think it has to do a lot with your water and sodium consumption. If you eliminate every bit of salt that you can from your diet (except for the salt that is naturally in foods) you'll drop 8-10 pounds in a week (but only for one week)! I think it just depends on what day you weigh in on and how much sodium you have in your system that causes the big swings.

It's frustrating, regardless, eh?
 
First, I must say that your BIG losses are really great! I think most people notice a pattern with how their bodies loose weight after they have been doing it for a bit. You may even change your pattern once or twice again. I have fallen into a pattern where I don't loose and then have 2 decent weeks. I guess our bodies need to play catch up sometimes. I know its frustrating, and I get down sometimes when those weeks hit, but keep at it because the weight will disappear.
