What do you all think? Is there no comparison to the two or are they about the same?? We've been in early Dec. before and loved it. I'm asking as far as crowds go and hotel availability is concerned.

I would really prefer the 2nd week of Dec. but our DD would only miss 3 days of school if we went around Thanksgiving. Thanks for your input!

We've been both weeks and the first week of December is definitely less busy and all the Christmas decorations are up. If we didn't have children in school, we would always avoid holiday weeks.

This will be our third Thanksgiving in a row at WDW and our kids get the entire week of Thanksgiving off from school. We actually head down the Thursday before Thanksgiving and return Thanksgiving day when the crowds really start picking up. Our kids miss 2 days of school, but we miss most of the crowds and still have 3 days to rest from the trip when we get home before returning to work and school.

Hope this helps!

I have read that Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times at Disney World.

Thanksgiving week is too crowded for me. We are arriving Thanksgiving Day again this year but we don't do much in the parks until Sunday. Gives us a chance to enjoy the resort, go to Epcot on Saturday (while everyone else is at MK!) and we did AK on Friday last year which was crowded but very manageable.

Is there another time the kids have off? Two years ago we went the second week in November. The weather was perfect (a little warmer than when we have gone in December), crowds low, and the kids had 2-1/2 days off school that week for the end of the cardmarking and conferences. Maybe you could look at the calendar for a week like that. We can't do it anymore because my son plays soccer for high school and that is the end of their season and the district playoffs, but it was probably one of our favorite trips.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I should avoid Thanksgiving week if at all possible. I'm praying they will extend the FTP package through early Dec. -- if so we will be on our way!

I've been the week before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving week and the week after Thanksgiving. Will never go Thanksgiving week again. TOO MANY PEOPLE!! The other two weeks are great. We've never had a problem with taking kids out of school. Usually the teachers will work with the kids with makeup work. We always make it a point to never go when school is out.

The past three years we have gone the day after Thanksgiving and stayed until the following sunday. Like someone else posted, we don't star doing the parks until the sunday or monday after Thanksgiving. That 1st week in Dec is perfect for us. The decorations are breathtaking! But it also gives us enough time to get home and settled in befrore Christmas. And we have always had nice weather.

We have been during the week of Thanksgiving once (actually flew home on Thanksgiving day) and I would not plan that time of year again. From the Thursday before the holiday through the following week it got more and more crowded, much more so than we enjoy. Plus I really love the decorations, so seeing them there and not having any of it up and running was a little frustrating to me!
