Week of October 12 WISH Walking & Running Club

Stupid ipod, stupid nike+

Grrrr!

Okay, probably just stupid ipod.

I finished my workout. It showed in the history. I plugged it into the computer and it didn't load. Then nothing showed in the history. I reset the ipod. Then all the history showed except for the 1.76 miles I had just completed.

GRRRR!

Ya, I gave up on the Nike+ thing. Never could get it calibrated right and I lost so many runs with that thing. I had problems all the time. I really don't like how you can't manually put in your runs if it messes up. I feel your pain!

DBF got me a Nano and the Nike+ since I told him how serious I was about the training. The calibration seems okay. I'm going to re-do it at the track at the HS on Sunday probably since I used the treadmill the first time. I'm going to use it for now and see what happens when the battery dies.

I've just decided to try to get a Coast to Coast medal if they offer it next year. DBF hasn't quite caught on that the race is in WDW, but I'll let him know soon enough. I'm still working on the birthday trip first.

Good morning!!

mia1977, did you see that the registration for DL is NOW open? I'm trying to check to see if they are offering the coast to coast (C2C? :lmao: ) medal again, too! Oh, Robert? do you have knowledge?

Tracy, have a MAGICAL time!! :dance3:

Kira,

Stephanie, How's the toe? :flower3:

Managed to get in some "bonus" strength training yesterday, even though it's traditionally a rest day. Figured I've rested enough, I need to get back into condition!! :goodvibes Anne

Hmmm... I may have to consider this seriously. How quickly do you think it will fill up? I probably have to wait about a month before I can register for it.

Umm, also, the date would be SUNDAY, September 6? That makes sense to me based on the 5k date.

Me too, but since I don't have any other trips to DLR planned I may have to figure out a way to fit this in.

Oh, I like my nike +. I tried to calibrate it once when I was using my daughter's nano, but couldn't get quite right. I got a new ipod for my birthday in aug. and haven't tried to calibrate it. I know from some TM workouts that .92 miles on the ipod= 1 actual mile. I also like the time function and have never lost any data. I'm not a great runner, but it has been fun this year.

I just signed up for a 15K that is being run Saturday. Lungstrong 15K near
charlotte. I'm not quite as ready as I was for the Minnie marathon.

Now, how could I get to WDW for the TOT race? Sounds like it would be fun.

Anne,

Coast to Coast is coming back, confirmed by the WDW Endurance Staff at the DL Half Expo table.

There is a discount of $15 (before Active.com service fees) if you use code RunDLRstg09 before 12/31/08 online. No mail in form posted on the Disney site.

Another code with the same $15.00 discount is RunDLR09.

You can not combine the two codes.

And just how fast does the DL 1/2 fill up?
That medal is pretty cool.
My DD may run the Princess 1/2-she called today to say she ran 2 miles and walked 1/2 mile. Her older sister called to say she had run today (don't know how far). I've got them going now.:thumbsup2

For 2008 DL Half, it closed the first week of July, 2008. This info borrowed from the disneyrunning.com site.

Who killed this thread???

HELLLLLLLLLOOOOOO OUT THERE?

I went out with the intent of doing 10 miles. At mile 5, I lost a battle with a bee. Bee 1 - Jeff O.

I'm allergic to bee and wasp stings, but I think the adrenaline flowing due to the run, kept me from breaking out in hives, and anaphylaxis shock.

I ended up with 8 miles at 8:34 average pace.
Took some antihistamine a precaution.

Hey WISH'ers....happy Friday!

Jeff I recently had an encounter with a wasp and also came out on the losing end. Fortunately, I'm not allergic, but that thing itched and hurt for at least 2 weeks. Hope yours heals quickly.

Got my 3.6 miles in this morning. Training is going reasonably well so far. Feel good from the knees up--just need to find a way to keep my legs loose from the knees down!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. We are expecting sunny and cool--good weather to get outdoors.

Maura

Jeff, that is scary! Gosh, I wonder if you need to keep an EpiPen with you while you run??? Glad it didn't progress and get worse. :goodvibes

Hey fellow WISHers. Finished up my runs for the week. Ran close to 15 miles with an average pace of 11:36 for the week. I tried so hard to pick it up a bit, but I just can't seem to get back under 11:00. It is really bothering me! :headache:

Knee did well this week, matter of fact I canceled my orthopedic appointment! :rolleyes1

Going on a walking ghost tour tomorrow night with DH. Can't wait! Hope everyone is doing well and has a great weekend! :grouphug:
