Week of November 2nd WISH Walking & Running Club

Hey guys. Hope everyone is well. :goodvibes

Tough week for me. I switched over to my half marathon training from my other program and added in one more day of running. I don't know if this is why all my runs this week felt like torture or what. I actually ran less miles this week than the previous week so I'm at a loss. Today I ran a five miler and it was the hardest run I've had since my surgery. I still managed an 11:13 pace, but I had gotten back up to under 11:00. I have felt yucky all day since. I came home and stripped!, got a Gatorade and sat on the couch with ice bags on my knees and feet. I was a mess. My head has felt bad, too. All week I have felt like my lung capacity was lacking. It is almost like I have the flu, but I don't! Last Friday I ran 6.2 miles and had a better pace than last year's Gobble Jog. I was really hoping to run a similar pace for this year's race. At this rate who knows?!? :confused3

DH ran a 12 miler trail run last Sunday. Went to volunteer and ended up running it. I don't get it, he can run like once a week and be able to run 12 miles on no notice and I stick to my programs and can barely survive a run. :scared1:

OK, I guess I'm done feeling sorry for myself! :sad2:

I hope everyone has a great weekend. My oldest DD has her first swim meet this Sunday! I am signed up to be a timer and I have no clue what I'm doing. Should be interesting!

Hey Jeff: I was off today, but had to go in for about an hour and a half to help out a co-worker that was at the office by themselves because another co-worker had a last minute problem and couldn't work. Does that explain it for you??

Yeah it does, you have a way better work schedule than me. :rotfl2:

I had a gluttony lunch today...

I went to my favorite burrito shop today. I know the owner, and was making small talk with him as he made my order. He must have made me a 2 1/2 pound burrito, filled with chicken, rice, tomato, black beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, and tortilla. I had fresh chips, and a Mug Rootbeer with it. Ugggh, I was stuffed.

Shan, sorry to hear about your notsogood run. Hopefully you will regain whatever it is that you had lacking and all will be good on the next run.

Rainy when I wanted to go out for me then got busy so only got dog walking in.

GOOD MORNING ALL YOU WONDERFUL WISHers!!!!

Good Morning everyone!! I just wanted to drop in a see how everyone's training is going! I did my 13 mile LR this morning and it was just OK. I really need to get into a better routine of eating before running, as I didn't eat this morning before heading out and that hurt me during the run. I guess I learn from each run!

Jeff--Glad to hear your calf is feeling better, but make sure you take care of it and don't push too hard to come back before it is better..we need you at the starting line in Jan! Oh and a 2.5 lb burrito...ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!

shan--Sorry to hear about the tough week of runs. Hang in there, we all have tough runs once in awhile, you will feel better soon enough!!

tracy--Hope the 4 miler went well today!

Keep up the great work everyone! Enjoy the weekend.

Hi again...

I'm back from my 4 miles and thanks Laurie, it was good. I have a race tomorrow so wasn't trying for speed today. Just checking my form and such. The drills were great ahead of time, now if I can just remember to do that before every walk!

Shan: Sorry that lately your runs are not so good! Take it easy on yourself. Don't rush.

Lily - hey woman, dog walking is getting in the miles!! Cool.

Jeff: OMG!! That was a huge lunch!! I didn't hear that you were doing a marathon later that day!!:lmao:

BunnyFoo: Great story about the dog, I have a dog, but she was never into "running" maybe like me she likes to walk!:rotfl: She would come to a dead stop and lay belly down with all legs layed out sprawled and look at me like "I am done. I am not going any further!" I actually had to carry her on the way back from a long walk to the video store. She would not move!! At least she only weighs about 18 pounds.

Have a good Saturday!
Tracy

PS....

62 more sleeps until the Circle of Life 5K during WDW Marathon weekend!!
Exactly 9weeks until the WDW Half Marathon and then add a day onto that for
the WDW Full Marathon.

Vicky - I'm waiting for my dog to recover so she can do short runs with me. I thought she'd just gotten too old to run with me, but we went to the vet last week and it turns out she has a thyroid problem that's been affecting her energy level. Vet says within a few weeks she should be back to her old self. She's not a great running companion since she wants to sniff everything and pee every few feet, but she's okay for short runs!

Jeff - Please be careful with that calf. I suspect you're trained enough for both Honolulu and Goofy even if you take it easy from here on out! The burrito (and the entire lunch) sounds yummy!

Shan - How many days a week are you running? Maybe your body is trying to tell you something? Are you doing any cross-training? Don't push too hard and end up hurting yourself, please!

Tracy - Good luck on the race tomorrow! 63 days sounds okay - it's when I count the Saturdays for long runs that I start panicking! :scared1:

Did 16 miles this morning. My Galloway group is so great - none of the team leaders could do the full 16, so one leader took the group for 10, then another met us after 10 and ran another 6 with me so I could get the miles I needed! As we were headed back in, we ran into Jeanne and Wendy going out for their long walk.

Next two weekends are gonna be tough. Going to open house at ECU next weekend - DD got accepted this week - HOORAY! :woohoo: so we have to go there and check everything out. Then the next weekend her band marches in the Christmas parade for her last time, so I can't miss that, which means I have to do miles on my own (or with DH) for 2 consecutive LRs. I know many of you do that all the time, but I'm spoiled by having a group to run with!

Ok, had a rest day that involved two movies with our two princesses princess:princess:.

First up was High School Musical 3. Good show, and the girls really enjoyed it. Followed that with Madagascar 2, not as good as the first one. Still had some laughs though.

We're headed to a birthday dinner shortly. Dinner then back home to get some sleep before tomorrows run. May go long, may go short. It all depends on the calf's recovery.

Have a great evening everyone. See you on next week's thread.
