Can somebody check the crowd predictions for this week? We can go any day Mon-Friday.

Anything out of the ordinary going on this week that would raise crowd levels?

We reeeeeeeally like to avoid crowds as much as we can and can go pretty much anytime during the year.

Thoughts? :)

The Holiday Season is slated to have it's last day on January 6th (so last chance for the Christmas Parade, Believe...In Holiday Magic Fireworks, and WoC Winter Dreams). So I would expect some uptick in crowds that week, especially because many local kids are still on winter break and that is the first week when SoCal and SoCal Select APs are no longer blocked out.

If you really want to avoid the crowds, I would wait until mid-January to go when the holiday season is completely over and kids are back in school.

Isn't the last day the 6th? Crowds won't magically die off on the 7th, either. That's when people go back to see the parks without Christmas or Halloween decorations for the first time in 4 months. And LAUSD has that week off this year, I'm sure other districts do too.

Yes, the last day is Tuesday, the 6th (just a typo; I corrected the original post). Though, based on the Disneyland calendar, it looks like HMH may be running through Sunday, January 11th (which is a change from the historic schedule when HMH went down as soon as the holiday season official ended). I don't expect much of a crowd reduction until the schools start back up (LAUSD appears to go back on the 12th).

The Three Kings Day festivities are taking place from January 2nd through January 6th, so -- along with the end of the holiday season -- that event will bring out some extra people on 1/5 and 1/6.

"Frozen Fun" is beginning in an official capacity on Wednesday, January 7th (it is sneak peek-ing on 12/20/14). Frozen Fun will involve 4 different locations in Hollywood Land in DCA : (1) a sing-along at the Muppet theater; (2) an Anna/Elsa Meet & Greet, as well as Do You Want to Draw a Snowman, in the Animation Building; (3) a "Freeze the Night" party in the old Mad T Party location; and (4) Olaf's Snow Fest -- a snow play area and Olaf meet & greet spot at Stage 17.

Also, there will be a Frozen addition to the Storybook Land Canal Boat ride in Disneyland. There will also be a special Frozen show at the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland.

You can bet that lots and lots of people will show up for the Frozen Fun stuff (in both parks), especially considering that all of the blocked Annual Pass dates will be lifted at some point that week. In fact, I could be wrong, but I think that the last time I checked the DLR website it seemed that all levels of previously blocked Annual Pass holders will be able to get into the parks as of January 5th -- though I could be wrong on that. If I read that info correctly and am remembering it correctly, then you can bet it will be crowded.

To be honest, I think that's why Haunted Mansion Holiday is (supposedly) closing six days later than expected -- because Disney knows that lots of AP holders and other guests will descend upon DLR to see the official debut of Frozen Fun and they want to make some of their other offerings available for them, for just a bit longer (especially before a lot of kids head back to school on 1/12/15).

IASW Holiday will still be open as well, so between that, Haunted Mansion Holiday and the Frozen Fun elements added into Disneyland Resort, the guests will spread out between the two parks. Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink and the Winter Village in Downtown Disney will be open through February 22, 2015.
