Week before Christmas

How crowded are the parks the week before Christmas? I was going to try to go in July when Avengers Campus opens but it’s looking likely that’s going to be delayed so I think I need to go later. I can’t do August due to our WDW/Europe trip including DLP and my college classes start at the end of August. College finals end Thursday, December 17 so I’m thinking of going to DL something like December 18-22 (Friday-Tuesday. If I find out that I can get all my finals done earlier in the week I can go earlier that week). Is it insane then? I can deal with some crowds but I never want to deal with the insane amount I dealt with between Christmas and New Years a few years ago.

It usually isn't as crowded as it is between Christmas and New Year's, but it will be crowded. Schools are out and lots of visitors want to see DLR during Holiday Time. The lower APs will be blocked, but there will be no lack of non-AP guests. This year, who knows, though, how this shut down will affect the crowds later in the year... The holiday crowds could be busier if lots of people push back trips to the end of the year. Or, the crowds could be somewhat lighter if the anticipated economic hardships mean many families have to forego DLR trips this year.

I'm going during the same dates. Everything I've seen seems to say, very busy, but not as busy as Christmas to New Year. I completely agree that this year might be an entirely different animal, though. Too much uncertainty to know what life will be like by the end of the year. I sure hope our trip happens. It will be our last before my oldest leaves the nest and we've been planning it for 2 years 😬.

Just a word of caution, I would plan on your Europe trip not being able to happen in August due to travel restrictions still being in place. My guess is international travel will be severely restricted for at least another 6 months to a year. I could be wrong, but I would make contingency plans as though that is the case so you have other options.

As for what the parks will be like at the end of the year, I think all bets are off for now, but if my prediction about international travel holds true, I suspect the parks will be a lot less busy.

Yeah, I’m really hoping our Europe trip is still on. I’m remaining optimistic about it but at the same time not making any non refundable reservations (besides our flights that we booked before this whole mess 😬).
