Week after Christmas and New Year's Eve

Hi! I have never been to Universal or IOA. We will be going the week after Christmas (I know, busy time, but I am a teacher) and I am wondering what the crowds will be like? Any suggestions for what day might be best? Also, does Universal do anything special for New Year's Eve? Thanks!
