Wee Hours Fireworks Testing Annoys Disney Neighbors

I feel like this is like moving into a community near an airport then complaining about late night flights. 90% of these developments are new so anyone who moved in knew Disney was there and that they shoot off fireworks whenever they want in Orlando. They don't even really have to deal with the city because well they aren't apart of the city.

Uhhh ... should have moved somewhere else ....

I'll be more than happy to change places. How often does this happen? Come to my house where the train comes by between 2am - 4am EVERY NIGHT!

I live in the middle of NYC on Broadway and I have to admit my quality of life has improved so much since we got CityQuiet windows installed. I use to be able to hear people's conversations on the street but now I hear nothing and barely even hear car noise or sirens any more. I thought we were better once we moved away from the fire station but then we moved into a construction heavy area (it wasn't that way when we moved in) and of course on of the busiest roads. If you can swing it def worth checking out a quiet window system.

They chose to move there and they know Disney has fireworks. If this bothers them so much they could always move.
Exactly, living just minutes from WDW property for over two decades, it's not an issue for me or anyone I know. It comes with the territory.
How often does this happen? !
Late night fireworks testing occurs so infrequently that it's ridiculous to complain about it.

It's like the people who move next door to a race track, particularly ones that have been around since the 60s and 70s, and then complain about the noise:sad2: Some of these people, like the ones near Laguna Seca near Carmel, California, have almost run these tracks out of business by getting limits approved by the municipalities to the point that hardly any real racing can occur. These people have money and influence and seem to be able to get what they want. Laguna Seca is a particularly sad story, since it's a very special, unique, and historic race track.

Especially call the news about it. Really? Sounds a bit cranky.

That sounds like 1 of the neighborhoods here in Louisville. The neighborhood was deemed Bridgepoint and it was right next to a portion of interstate that pointed to a another section across the river. Despite this the neighborhood was up in arms when announced plans a few years ago to build a bridge! You can't take the stupid out of some people!

The same thing happens in Anaheim. I agree with other previous posts. They chose to move to that particular area knowing nightly fireworks were a thing.

I grew up 20 minutes from Disneyland. On a clear evening, I could hear the fireworks. It was one of those things where I used it to tell time. I would always say, "It must be 9 o'clock. Disneyland fireworks are going off." That is depending on when Disneyland was shooting fireworks off at a specific time of year. Sometimes, I didn't even notice them. It just becomes apart of life of living in So Cal, and I'm assuming it's the same way in Florida.

Now, the only way i can see people being upset is Disney not warning the surrounding area? I only find this surprising on Disney's part. I know at Disneyland, they will test a show with special performances the week before it starts to get a test run in. It's one of those where I would show up to Disneyland to find a sign on Main Street saying that they were doing the other firework show that evening. I also know at WDW and Disneyland (4th of July only), they do the special holiday shows a day before. Sometimes several days before at Disneyland. I'm assuming that is to test the shows before the actual holiday. I know why WDW wouldn't do this for Wishes, because Wishes has such a following that people are going now to see it for the last time, and Disney doesn't want to interrupt that. However, I was surprised they did a test run at 1 a.m. That's even after when NYE fireworks would go off.

Anyways, I am actually looking forward to this show.

It's been a slow news week here... by law if the fireworks show didn't go off, they have to set them off overnight when safe so this is not a new thing.... HS and Epcot make my windows shake all the time. the dis anniversary party is going to get them going off near that same time as well..

On the other hand.. WOOHOO ITS NOT JUST PROJECTIONS AND UPSETTING THE NEIGHBORS!!!!!!!!!

This is when having a great realtor pays off. I used to live in a condo just off Universal property. I could walk there and we had people constantly parking on our street (and getting towed) to avoid paying parking fees at Loew's Hotel Portofino Bay.

Before I moved in, the realtor made sure to find out and inform me off all the possible disruptions that came with living next to a theme park. But, the same concept applies for other nearby stuff like railroad tracks.

Hahahhahaaha right!!! (every couple of hours). And to restate the previous posts...uuuumm pretty sure more than likely Disney was probably there first and really!?!? you didn't have any idea this might happen???

"Loachmin said he normally loves seeing the shows from his backyard, but this time, the timing was too much."

I'd say putting up with some late night testing in order to see the fireworks from your backyard is a price a LOT of people would be happy to pay.

we have a private airport and railroad track within 5 miles of us. we knew this when we bought the house, it would be silly for us to complain now. i will GLADLY trade places.

We have an active railroad track a couple blocks from us. I sometimes wake up at night to the sound of freight being unloaded. I didn't know I was supposed to alert the media! I just figured if I did that they would call me crazy since the rail line was in use when we bought the house.

I moved here 2-1/2 years ago from 12 acres in the middle of nowhere Vermont. My neighbours were woodpeckers, porcupines, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, moose, deers, owls and the occasional bear. :dog2:

Did I expect to find the same peace and quiet here? No, of course not!

I spent 3 months in a rental, looked at over 100 houses and found a house and neighbourhood I love!!! I made sure I'm not under a regular flight path, my subdivision is 30 years old so the houses are all different, my lot is over 1/3 of an acre, it's quite rural around me, super quiet, and bonus, I can see the stars at night. (Although they're all in the wrong places :D).

Bonus, I'm a 25 minutes drive from WDW!!!!

And I understand this area is always growing, so it probably won't be so rural. Will I like it when it happens, heck no! But, I'll understand. If I wanted no growth, I would have stayed in Vermont. :squirrel:
