How crowded is EMH at MK in late October when MNSSHP is affecting the schedules? We will be getting in later in the day on 10/25 and I saw that MK is open 9-11 pm for EMH. I am trying to decide if it would be worth it for us to go over to MK around 6 or 7 for fireworks and a few rides. With so many MNSSHP parties that week-will it be a madhouse and not worth it?

It will be crowded, count on that. But if you can make fast passes for that night, I say go for it!
We arrive that day too and that is our exact plan. We are having dinner at Skipper Canteen then plan to ride a few rides and soak in the atmosphere for our first night. We won't stay all night though.

EMH nights in Oct. tend to extremely busy as there are only 3 nights a week without a party. We have gone to WDW the last week of Oct. for the past 7 years and we won't go to the MK on a non party night anymore it's just to crowded. Also, the fireworks show is still very new so you will have lots of visitor just going to see the show. Good Luck, YMMV

We did it two years ago and plan to do it this year. I thought the worst part was navigating the crowds after the fireworks. A LOT of people left then. Once we got through the crowd, we were able to ride plenty of rides.

That's encouraging! We want to see the fireworks but would be open to watching from BLT or behind the castle somewhere if crowds are really crazy. We probably wouldn't make it to MK until 6 depending on how the drive goes so what we really wanted to do was use the EMH for rides after the masses leave at 9 or after fireworks. I was thinking if crowds thin down and lines are pretty short--we could get in a lot from 9-11 during EMH but if it stays chaotic for EMH we may be better off trying to fit a MK morning in for that Sunday. Any advice for best location to watch fireworks and head out of the crowds quickly?!?

On that trip, we went on Saturday night and entered behind the crowds. We were able to ride while people watched the fireworks. We got stuck in the crowds so I don't have good advice there. You could certainly watch from behind the castle but I hear the new show has a lot of castle projections.

I went week before Halloween last year and there were only 3 nights without a party. Both Monday and Wednesday night were crazy. Monday had no EMH and the line to get in just before Wishes was absolutely nuts. Ended up going over to CR. Wednesday night had EMH and was a little more manageable. Still wall-to-wall for Wishes though. The park's regular hours were until 11PM, so EMH went until 1AM. That made it exceptionally quiet, especially the last hour. I couldn't even make it until 1.

Make the fireworks your goal. There's really no where to watch well and beat the crowds out, so why not hang around and ride for awhile. Plan on some of the non-headliners: Mickey's Philharmagic, It's a Small World, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Tea Cups, Monster's Inc. Towards the end of the night Buzz and even Space Mtn will probably be acceptable. I just wouldn't plan on 7DMT, Peter Pan, BTMRR, or Haunted Mansion. Pirates and Jungle Cruise are possibilities as well. Position yourself on the side of the park you most want to ride and go for it. Standing in line for a ride is much better than standing in line to get to the parking lot!!

Last year, we hopped to MK after dark on Wednesday during Columbus Day week. We scheduled our fastpasses for 7-8, 8-9, and 9-10. After the fireworks, the park really thinned out (The Electrical Parade's last showing was the previous Sunday). The park was open until 2 a.m. We shut it down. Were able to ride whatever we wanted (except Mine Train) from 11-2

I was really hoping for hours like this when I booked our dates. We are doing MNSSHP the next night and relaxing during the day so a super late night at Magic Kingdom and sleeping in late the next day would work perfect for our plans that Wednesday. After reading all the posts about hours being cut back for summer I sort of lost hope that our Wednesday night would be extended past 11 for EMH--does anyone have any thoughts on the slim chance hours would be extended and how long Disney would wait to announce it?

A lot may depend on the week you are going, but I would think Columbus Day week the hours we at least go out to 1:00. I don't specifically recall when they changed last year, but the hours were listed as ending at midnight until shortly before our trip.
