Is it possible to have a simple ceremony at a WDW resort w/o using the Fairy Tale Wedding Consultants?

I have a friend who's getting married and will be at WDW for her honeymoon but REALLY wants to get married on the beach at the Poly. She just can't afford to do it through Disney. Looking at the website she's looking at a min of $10K for the intimate package. WAY out of her budget.

If it's possible who would she call? The hotel? Can anyone reccomend a good NON 'Joan Rivers' type (as she puts it) wedding coordinator in the WDW area? All of the ones she's talked to around here that she likes, won't do out of state weddings, and the ones that will, she hasn't liked.

TIA

Hiya, it says on Mouseweddings.com that you can't have a non-Disney co-ordinated wedding and they escort you off the premises if they catch you!

An intimate package for Sunset Point is $4000 for up to 8 guests. Very affordable.

As the previous poster said, if you are caught, they will stop your wedding and be kicked off site.

The Fairy Tale Weddings department is extremely protective of their very unique status. The official policy is that no weddings are permitted on Disney property without using DFTW. If a couple is caught, they could be asked to leave the property.

There are several options near/around Disney though. The Swan/Dolphin offers several options and are cheaper than Disney. You won't be able to use the Poly Beach, but the locations at the Swan/Dolphin are beautiful.

I'm sure there are several options at the "non-Disney" hotels in the Downtown Disney area as well.

You can try googling "orlando wedding planners" and I'm sure you'll get lots of hits for folks who can help you plan something in the area (I've heard Leu Gardens is beautiful!).

Having said that, I'm pretty sure (based on experience;) ) that you can do an intimate/escape wedding for less than $10k.

Wow! Lots of quick responses! I'll pass on the official line to her. I wonder if she maybe mixed up the intimate package with the all out packages? I know she doesn't want big and wedding party and guests add up to a grand total of 12. This is her second, to a long time boyfriend so she wants simple, but special.

The $10,000 price your friend saw is for a Wishes wedding. For a Wishes wedding you can have more than 18 guests and you can have a wedding reception afterwards and add entertainment and other extras. It sounds like she would like an Escape wedding since she will have 12 guests. I believe the price for sunset point at the Poly is $4000. That would include the ceremony site (officiant would be extra), a bouquet, a boutonniere, a cake, bottle of champagne, violinist, and a photographer. Take a look at mouseweddings.com or disneyweddings.go.com.

As hiwaygal mentioned she could have a wedding at Swan & Dolphin or one at Lieu Gardens. I have seen pictures from both and they looked very nice.

Unfortunately she may have to cut down the guest list if they're looking at the Poly. I wanted that location too, but the website says this about Sunset Pointe:

Ceremonies are available October - March, Monday - Friday only at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:30 pm, or 5:00 pm. Maximum guest count for a Disney's Sunset Pointe ceremony is 8 guests. If inclement weather should occur on the day of the wedding an indoor back-up location will be provided.

I was just married at Sunset Point last month and it is very small, so she couldn't have very many people at all. Like everyone else says, maybe 8 guests.

However, if she wants a wedding that small, I have to say that it was absolutely the most magical spot to get married, the castle was beautiful!

I don't have my professional pictures back yet, but here are a couple of screen shots that I took from the video sneek peek:
