Wedding the week of Easter...are we crazy!?!?

Okay, due to school we are very limited for our time for a wedding. I am not likely to wait until the third week in June when the children get out...too hot for me. So, we are thinking of heading down the 4th of April 2007 and getting married the 5th or 6th. Easter is on the 8th next year. Are we crazy? I have been the week of Christmas and I know the crowds are crazy...what is the comparison to Easter week? Also, this is a VERY small intimate wedding, the bride/groom our daughter and her sitter, acting as the nanny ( she is like family).
Just want ot be sure we will be able to book the people we want because it will be Easter week.

Well I just found out my anniversary is on Easter next year.....hmmm.... That's just something to consider to anyone getting married in Late March through April. When we got married, it was a week or two before Easter.

Since you've familar with Christmas week, I don't see how Easter could be worse in terms of crowds....but it'll definitely be warmer!

We have gone every year at Easter for the last 5 or 6 years. I can tell you one thing, you never know what the crowds are going to be like. Two years ago, we went and the Monday after Easter was completely dead. No one in the parks, I think at the most, we only saw around 20 people around us at any given time. Now, last year, it was terrible. It just depends on when Florida goes on spring break (all of the FL schools have SB at the same time). If SB is at the same time (which was the case last year) it will be horrendous. Christmas is managable. Last year, you couldn't even move in the MK, no matter what day you went. It was a mad house.

Definately made me rethink returning in the upcoming years...

Last year, Easter was insane. One of the worst crowd levels I've ever seen.

Just so you know though, Spring Break for local Orlando school districts are easy to check online. Next year's Orange Co. Schools spring break is for Mar12-16th. (That doesn't always mean the crowds are down though.)

Easter is always busier. It's a holiday.

I say go for it! If you battled crowds during the summer and christmas before that easter is no worse! Can't get worse than summer.

It really depends with Easter because every state and schoo is different. I know in the northeast (nyc and NJ) the spring break this year in April 10th-14th or something like that so they won't be down there

I've never been to WDW during holidays so I would be afraid to try it myself but if you've been those times of the year and did well then why not?

I'm curious about this too.. our wedding is on April 24th of this year, but we're arriving on the 20th, which will be the tail end of Easter Week. And then the school grad-nights are the following week-ends, so I have no idea what kind of crowd levels to expect. Hoping for the best though...

not to panic anyone but I've been down there during grad weekend and it is kind of busy. Mostly an inconvenience because parks close down early to you.

I think if it is just a really small intimate, you shouldn't worry. If you are having a large custom wedding I would worry only because you are asking people to pay premium prices (highest of the year along with xmas) to come down there...plus fighting the crowds!!

Thanks everyone!!! it really looks like we will brave the crowds. I just do not want to wait until summer, so darn hot . April could be quite warm too but not nearly as bad as the middle-end of June!!!

I am not as concerned about my sanity as my future husbands!!! I didn't love the crowds! but I can deal....he is the one I will have to really plan for because he will freak out....oh, well, we will be getting married and honeymooning in WDW...you cannot ask for more than that
