Hi all,
My Bride-to-be and I are to be married on 19th September 05 at the Wedding Pavillion, but the planning is still in its infancy..... Hopefully you experienced couples can help.

We have booked the Intimate Package with Virgin Holidays and this apparently includes a Champagne Reception with Cake.

Thos of you who have been through the process, could you possibly tell me what this means?? Sounds like a stupid question, I know !

We have 8 guests travelling with us from the UK and are wondering whether we should also be considering an evening function/reception as this is not currently in the agenda !

I am sure there are plenty more questions that we have for you between now and September, but a big thank you in advance !

Kind regards to all.

Russ.

Congratulations! Let me see if I can help.

An Intimate Wedding includes a ceremony followed by a small reception where cake and champagne will be served. In other words, the reception will not have regular food or a band for dancing.

There are lots of options for you to plan a special dinner for that evening, it just wouldn't be an official part of your Intimate Wedding package. Hope that helps!

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK!! :wizard:

(Sorry I couldn't be more help)

there's lots of new info and choices to view online at the new disney weddings site or at yourfairytale.com that can give you some ideas & descriptions of what to expect, want & plan. best of luck in your plans!

if you, your future mrs. and guests want to have a dinner after your ceremony and cake reception you can book a priority seating at any of the wdw restaurants like the yacht club galley at the yacht club, the california grill on top of the contemporary, or jiko's at animal kingdom lodge are all great bets, you could also do a character buffet dinner for about $20/a person.

there's also some great restaurants in the parks (although you cant wear your bridal gear in the parks unless you host a dessert party at epcot or mgm which is possible too through epcot catering or your em) in the parks there's great restaurants like the royal table in cinderella castle at magic kingdom, any of the restaurants at epcot's world showcase like alfredo's in italy or san angel in the mexican ruins.

you could also book a private dinner on the grand 1 yacht at the grand floridian for a dinner & cruise near magic kingdom including the fireworks show at 7.

:confused3 Know what you mean about reception. We are getting married on October 6th through intimate virgin wedding package. I was unsure what was exactly meant by the reception so we have decided to have meal afterwards. Sure it will be worth it. Enjoy your wedding.

Congratulations on your wedding!! I got married at the pavillion 4 years ago and we had approx 20 guests at the wedding!! After the champagne reception and pics we had dinner on the shores of the seven seas lagoon - this was arranged through the catering staff at the GF. They provided the waiters and each guest got a menu to choose from a few days in advance! pm me if you need anymore info!

Me and my intended are getting married at the pavillion on Nov 30th, from what info I can gather from the boards it is def worth having a meal after, as the champagne reception is very short and is only champagne and cake and thats it.

Hope all go's well! We haven't had anything at all through yet :D

Thanks to all who have replied, sorry it has taken a while to respond....Busy times at the moment !

From what has been said here, I think we will more than likely book a meal of some variety.

Thanks again and best of luck to you all.

Congratulations Russ :Pinkbounc We are also from the UK and getting married in September...Good luck with the rest of the wedding planning :D

Hello all,

I am also from the UK and just got back off my Virgin Holiday/Wedding and what a wonderful experience it was. We meet Yvonne the Virgin Holidays Coordiantor when we arrived in Orlando and she was amazing at sorting out last minute details and helping us with things that we had not given much thought to etc.. being that I have only gone through the marriage process this once there were things that I had not thought about!!!

There we 11 of us at our Intimate Wedding so we opted to have a meal through Yvonne at the Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa which was amazing with views out over Downtown Disney and the fireworks. The meal only cost $99 about $55 per person and we even got personalized menus (Nice souvenir).

The cake is yummy!!!! but only enough to fill you for a while, if your like me you will not have eaten much that day so you will be ready for a bite to eat once the ceremony is over and you can relax and enjoy yourself.......

Good luck to all ao you :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Laura I have sent you a PM answering this question for you and hopefully we can take it from there :)

Wow, what a flashback ! My original post started this thread and it seems to have crept back up the forum !
Interesting looking that far back and how things have changed since. We are now only 4 weeks away from flying out to Orlando and 5 weeks for the wedding.....Interesting though to see how little I knew then !
