Is it a big deal if I have my guests walk from the WP to the Whitehall room after the wedding?

I think it would be fine.

I walked it about a year ago with my parents on one of our trips. It takes 10-15 minutes depending on how slow or fast you walk. If you have elderly guests, or guests who don't walk well, try a wheel chair for transportation or have a guest drive them over.

i think it only depends on the comfort/ability of all your guests and the weather. it's not far. i was really wanting to walk assuming it was a nice day, but actually i was really happy to take pictures then get a ride over. guests could drive themselves, walk wait for a round trip from the limo or what have you.

I think its a pretty far walk. You have to keep in mind that your guests will be dressed up, women in heels. It could also be a warm day. You never know in Florida, it could be 80 degrees even in December. Also the Whitehall room is at the very opposite end of the GF, furthest away from the point that your guests will be entering from coming over from the WP.

Maybe you can get a consensus from your guests as to who doesn't mind walking vs who does or who physically can't. Then you can talk to your wedding planner about solutions.

Our planner gave us several options but we luckily had a limo included with our Escape package and we used that to transport our guests over to the GF.

It's not far at all.... plus the walk itself is actually quite beautiful. You can even walk up to the main GF building so your guests can see the gorgeous lobby, and then head over to Whitehall. I would say the walk itself takes 15 minutes tops. You can also request golf cart service for older or wheelchair bound guests.

My guests walked, wasn't a problem at all

We are getting married in June, and except for the grandparents, we are walking over there (Truth be told, we are cast members and we always park at the wedding pavillion and walk to GF to take the monorail to get to MK, its not a bad walk at all)

We were married in June and used the limo to transport guests over. It was pouring rain when our ceremony was finished so make sure to think of a back up plan in case walking won't work out due to weather!

What time of day is your wedding? If it is mid-afternoon and they are having very warm weather, maybe I would consider hiring towncars or a van unless they are dressing fairly casually, and like Wendy said, maybe look at the forecast the day before and see if it's supposed to rain and then consider transportation. It wouldn't be a problem to at least get cabs if not towncars even that late.

Otherwise, I think it's a very nice walk. When I was at my planning session a couple weeks ago my sister and I timed the walk from the building whitehall is in back to the wedding pavilion. We made sure to walk at a leisurely pace and look around and it took 10 minutes. We thought it was a very pretty walk too, on a winding path with plants and scenery.

We are getting married on December 9th the reception starts at 12. I got my BEO and I'm trying to cut some costs. I'll try to post it later. We are a group of 28 and what I am thinking of doing is having the limo take the party in groups of 8, we have it for 3 hours anyway. I am just not sure if we can do that.

You absolutely can do that and I think you should! After your ceremony you could take some pictures around the pavilion and at that time the limo can take your guests in groups over to the Whitehall room. I know the walk isn't bad, and I have done it myself, but when you are dressed up and wearing heals or if it is hot or raining or if you are elderly, you don't want to do that walk. Thats just MHO.
We had the motor coach for our guests. It picked them all up from their on site hotels and brought them to the pavilion, then to the Whitehall, then back to their resorts. We had about 50 guests and it cost around $700 if I am remembering correctly. I thought it was worth every penny. If I had the amount of guests you have, I would just use the limo and make multiple trips.

We used our limo to take our guests around the resorts. My wedding planner basically told us that we had the limo for that specific amount of hours and we could use it however we wanted as long as the hours were consecutive.

The limo picked our guests up at the contemporary and dlivered them to the WP. Then after the ceremony the limo delivered our guests from the WP to the GF. It worked out perfectly.

HTH :goodvibes

I have 100-115 guests attending my wedding and it would be very expensive to have everyone taken over to the GF. Can everyone drive from the WP to the GF? Will they have to pay for parking? We have a few out of town guests, but most everyone lives in Central Florida.

We had our wedding at the pavilion and our pre-reception at the Whitehall room in September. Our guests really didn't have a problem with walking between the two, and it was so hot that day. My grandfather ended up with a bit of heat stroke that day, but our planner got one of those little golf cart things and so he got drove around and didn't have to walk. So really it will probably depend on your guests, but it is possible.

We are having our guests do the walk also.

We are getting one van though, to take guests over who might have trouble with the walk. Is there anyone in your party who might have trouble? If so, maybe have one vehicle for guests who need assistance. Otherwise, its a pretty walk, IMO. :thumbsup2
