I have a question. How far in advance should we ask people to be in our Wedding Party? Adam and are pretty sure of who we would like to ask, and I was just wondering.

Hey Laura :bride:

There were 2 friends of mine and a cousin that I actually asked almost a year ago (this cousin being a relative I'm very close to, and the 2 friends are best friends of mine since high school, so I knew that I wanted them in the wedding no matter what). I'm getting married on 1-24-09, so that means I asked them 1.5-2 years before.

But formally, about 2-3 weeks ago, I sent out "Will you be my bridesmaid?" invites to the bridesmaids, so I guess I officially asked them a little less than a year in advance. I figure since I already have the date set in stone, I could let them know as early as possible so they can already put the vacation time on their work calendars and everything, since bridal party has more on their plate than regular guests!

You're about 14 months out, I asked my wedding party about 18 months out...So I think you're in the clear. :) Just be sure who you ask is who you want...a lot can change in 14 months :)

I asked at about 1 year out. But we only asked my sister, his brother and my very best friend. Anyone else I would have waited to make sure that as it got closer we wouldn't have changed our minds. When my best friend got married about 3 years ago, she asked 6 girls about 18 months out. By the time the last 6 months rolled around, she'd hardly spoken to 2 of them in months, so she kinda wished she'd only asked the other 4... It worked out fine, but she hasn't spoken to them much since the wedding either.

I think you're good to do it now if you want. But, if there's a chance you could change your mind on a person, wait. Know what I mean? Like, family or good friends, ask now. People you're not sure if you'll still be friends wait, wait.

I asked mine about a month ago. So I little less than a year and a half out. I know a lot of brides tell you to wait as long as possible because so many things can change but with destination weddings you need to ask a little sooner. It's just cuurteous seeing they are going to have to travel and what not. I have a similiar storyt to disprincessatheart. A friend got engaged, told us all ( seven of us) we were going to be bridesmaids. Got into a fight with a friend and I haven't spoken to her in almost a year. Got an awkward email in September asking if I wanted to be in the wedding.

Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone. I have talked it over with Adam a while ago, and we already have a pretty good idea of who we want. Ware going to ask a few people as soon as I get back with the East Coast tour.

Now I'm off to touch up my makeup and get ready for the next show.
