Hi B2B's! Hope your Wednesdays are going well!

My question is regarding gifts. We are having our first shower October 25th, (My fiancee and I live in Chicago but I grew up in NY and that is where my parents are and the wedding is;) ) We are having another shower, in Chicago, sometime in November (This one is secret!:) )and then our wedding is in December.:santa: :bride: We received a few gifts at home when my NY Shower invitations were sent. So here are my questions:

Are these shower gifts or wedding gifts?
Can I acknowledge these gifts to the sender with out sending a TY note right now? (I know it seems like a dumb question! I realize you should always acknowledge a gift but now sure what kind it is!)

I heard it was not appropriate to send TY notes until after the event but I wanted to get started writing them anyway. I have 2 sets of TY notes, one with my name on them and one with "Our" initials on them that I was going to use after the wedding.

I realize this is not an earth shattering problem but any guidence would be appreciated!

Thanks so much!

I am in a similar situation to you. Our wedding is at Disney World but I grew up in California. We had a shower in California in August and we have one in South Florida where we live in 2 weeks so we have been receiving gifts at home for awhile now. I'm not an etiquette queen but I've been sending thank yous as I receive gifts. I haven't gotten any complaints so far. I think most people have just been glad to have confirmation that their gifts were received. The gifts I got that I wasn't sure whether they were for the shower or the wedding I just basically said thank you so much for thinking of us and said either we look forward to seeing you at the wedding or we will miss you at the wedding.

I think a nice simple Thank you for the gift should be fine! I wouldn't put too much thought into if it's a shower or wedding gift! I think most people are just glad to know that their gift was received and appreciated! :goodvibes

ps. i'm from chicago-land (well, the southwest burbs)

Thanks so much! Sounds like a plan!
Best of luck with your nuptuals! pixiedust:

Honestly I am so overwhelmed with happiness when anyone thinks of us I dont' care what it is! I am calling going to call people whenever we receive something to acknowledge that we received their gift! Besides it's fun to share the excitement!:goodvibes :goodvibes

For the gifts you are receiving now they are most likely shower gifts as most people send the actual wedding gift much closer to the month of the wedding. I would send thank yous to shower gifts and then different ones for the wedding gifts and even though you may get them early I'd wait for after the wedding, but a call is nice to acknowledge so they know it didn't get lost.
