Wedding dresses at Costco

I'm a practical girl, wouldn't care where the dress came from as long as I loved it!

I would, but then again, that is coming from someone who spent $150 on a linen Calvin Klein summer dress. It wasn't the dress that mattered.

Besides, how generic is David's Bridal!!!

Based on many hours watching Say Yes To The Dress (LOL), I think there are a lot of dress options so I don't see the appeal of going to a warehouse club to shop when there will only be 6 different dresses. I'd rather go to a David's Bridal type store that has a huge inventory of affordable gowns.

The video was blocked at work, did they mention a price point?

I miss the 80s and 90s where wedding dresses were just a big explosion of tulle, lace and satin a la Princess Diana. Nowadays, I think every wedding dress looks exactly the same - strapless and plain.

I feel so opposite! My sis in law and a friend from college married within a year of each other, and their early 90s gowns are JUST the same as each other. then a friend of mine married in '02 in a gown she bought at a warehouse in the mid-90s, and it looked just the same. Poofy sleeves, sweetheart neckline, nylon-satin, lace...same same same.

Whereas you can get all sorts of gowns nowadays!

Anyway, I probably wouldn't buy a gown at Costco, but if it were made of the fabric I like (real stuff not nylon/synthetics) I'd totally consider it! I had the lousiest shopping experiences at the high-end shops I went to (the higher the price the nastier the salespeople were, it seemed) and I ended up buying my poofy gown online anyway, so Costco would probably be just fine.

Anyway, it would give you more budget money to think about buying THIS!!!

I think the opposite. They all looked the same in the 80s and 90s. lol

I think wedding dresses today are stunning and very diverse. :confused3

Another option for some gals.....perhaps those that do not like the fuss, like to shop, don't have unlimited budgets. :confused3 Time will tell. If it is profitable for them, they'll be available.
All I know is, if I see one more bride in a slim, strapless gown that does not fit her body type, I just may Faint. There are so many flattering styles....but thats another thread..to each her own, I suppose:rotfl:

Bumbershoot, that is SOME ring??? Can you imagine it on a hand, it'd probably weigh you down :lmao: Wow is all I can say, Flawless, amazing.......

I agree with your opinion on wedding dresses. All strapless, all the same. How boring. I hope they change before my DD gets married.

I don't care where it comes form, I just hate the ones they wear now.

They already do flowers and invitations and stuff...we just checked it out a week or two ago.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised...they sell caskets, too! :teeth:

I would.

I bought mine from JCPenney, straight off the rack at the distribution center store  It cost $99.

Of course I would never spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a dress that I'll never, ever wear again.

I know! My husband, who knows a bit about diamonds, had never heard of IF and had to look it up! flawless, colorless, almost 7 carats!

He told his mom about it, and she was surprised Costco sold such a thing, but not surprised at the cost. She has a 2 carat VVS and one or two steps below D color, and it was 50K a couple decades ago... So she said "yes, that's about right".

But not me, I nearly fainted!

Gross. I would never buy a wedding dress from Costco. That's where I buy dog food and enormous cases of beer.

I think there are lots of pretty wedding dresses out there now, but it is nearly impossible to find one with sleeves. Everything is strapless, halter, spaghetti strap or at the very least sleeveless. If a bride is unhappy with her arms she has no options at all (unless she buys a jacket to go over the dress!)

As far as Costco goes, I can't imagine they would have a lot to choose from which would mean a lot of people might have the same dress as you. Many brides wouldn't be happy with THAT.

ITA. Strapless, strapless, strapless, strapless. It's sooo boring!

My mom works at a bridal shop and the bolero and cap sleeve trend is starting to come back a bit, which is nice. I got a dress but we wrote to the designer to get extra material to make a little sleeve.

I dont think I'd buy a dress at costco, I wanted something that wasnt strapless in plain, though alot of dresses are that style there is a bunch that are not. As a PP said there are alot of unique dresses just watch say yes to the dress (wow some of those are something)

Around here though people will buy a dress from Sears.

I think as long as she finds "the" dress, it doesn't matter where it's from or how much it costs. I feel like I visited every bridal boutique (though that's not too many, it's Maine) in the state of Maine looking for my perfect dress, and I found it at David's Bridal for a great price - go figure. :confused3

I actually know of a couple girls who found their perfect dress here:

and they wore them well. :bride:

I think it's crazy what people pay for a wedding dress that they are only in for one day. I watch Say Yes to the Dress and am shocked when some of the girls say what their budget is for the dress. I say, if you can get a good deal at a place like Costco, good for you. They sell coffins on Costco.com, why not wedding dresses as well.

Even if you hadn't said that you've watched too much Say Yes to the Dress, I would have known it from the bolded comment alone. :rotfl: I watch that show religiously!

Having said all of that, if I liked the dress and it was flattering, I wouldn't have a problem buying a wedding dress from Costco.
