Wedding Day timing...

Hi

I'm planning on having an Escape wedding at SBP. We then want to have a sit-down lunch/dinner in one of the restaurants, and then end the evening with an EPCOT DP.

Can anyone help me on what time would be best to have the ceremony, and leave us enough time for photos, cake etc before we go for lunch or dinner? And what time would we need to be finished with dinner by in order to get to EPCOT for the DP?

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions

I'd say the 1430 time would be best.

Approx times:

1430-1530 Ceremony & Cake

1700-2000 Meal

2100-2200 Dessert Party

Ok, the military time totally threw me but those times were close to what we had for our Escape last spring. The ceremony was at 2:30, cake cutting was around 3:45 by the time we got done with pictures, and we were there until about 5:15 when we went over to Narcoossee's for dinner at 5:30. Beware though, our dinner took almost 3 hours When we sat down the first thing I told our waiter was that we had a cruise booked on the Grand 1 and had to be over there around 8:15. He said he was glad I told him as he'd need to keep everything moving faster than normal
We would never have had time to make it to EPCOT for a DP as we'd originally planned. So, make sure your dinner is in the vicinity of EPCOT and you should be ok. Also try for a restaurant that has a 5pm seating to give you some cushion!

I'm not too good on where places are around Disney, can anyone recommend a good place for dinner that is close to EPCOT?

Does the DP start at 8?

I'd try for something at the Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, yacht club or beach club. Then from any of those all of your guests can hop in a friendship boat to head to the International gateway and meet your escort.

I know the Yachtsman steakhouse is supposed to be good - that's at the Yacht Club. I know that there are some very good restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin too - Schula's I think is one. If you look in the dining section of wdwinfo.com (links at the top of the boards) you can sort the restaurants by resort and look at their menus.

Thankyou I had a look at the Swan & Dolphin, I didn't realise they were mostly seafood restaurants - that's a big no no for DF & I (Yeah, we're fussy! )

I'll check out the Yachtsman!

How do the dinner reservations work? I may have up to 20 people, will they allow me to book for this many?

When I booked my reservations I called regular dining and they connected me to group dining - if you can find the number on these boards you can call them directly. They will book for you or connect you directly to the restaurant in some cases, but that's where I started.

After I'd already done that my planner offered to book that dinner for me, so you could also check with your planner if you like. When I booked the 180 day rule was still in place and I hadn't yet been assigned my planner at 180 days so I booked myself.

We were thinking of doing the same thing as you. Honestly, I think if you are planning on having a DP after dinner, you might want to pull your ceremony back to the 12noon time. [if they still offer that??]
That way there is no rushing.
And I know this may sound silly, but you don't want to pay for a DP and have you and your guests not be able to eat the actual dessert because you are so stuffed from dinner, you know?
I dunno, just something to think about!

No problem! We were going to do the same thing you originally had said and we thought about it and realized it may not work out, haha. I'd rather take my time and get my moneys worth!

Our wedding at SBP was at 3:30 then we had cake and photo's. Dinner was at Yachtsman Steakhouse, first seating at 5:30 pm. There were 11 of us and we didn't leave the restaurant until 8:00 pm. No way would we have wanted any more food/desserts after that.

Your EM will be able to hook you up with the restaurant manager to schedule and plan for your dinner.

We had them do custom menu's with almost all the menu available with no prices on the menu's so our guests could eat whatever they wanted. YSH did a fantastic job for our wedding dinner.
