Oh man, that sounds bad! Is there a trip report?
No trip report, but the scoop as briefly as possible is: I had just gotten serious with my now-husband. This is my 3rd husband mind you; we dated in high school and he says he loved me then, but didn't want to tell me.

That really would have saved me a lot of grief (and two marriages) if he had been forthcoming, because we are like peas & carrots. So anyway, fast forward and we're a couple. My first order of business, naturally, is to get him hooked on WDW. I plan a trip using the Unofficial Guide. They say a particular Saturday will be good for MK. No mention of the Christmas parade taping. Having been to WDW many, many times I questioned going to MK on Saturday, but figured they were the experts. This was before I discovered TGM.

Or DISboards.

Right before the trip we both got sick.

Miserably sick. Something like the flu, with all the upper respiratory stuff and just plain feeling bad. But we decided to tough it out and not cancel.
Anyway, we go on our trip and I realize my sweetie is completely out of sorts. Turns out the only time he's ever been on an airplane before is when he flew to CA in the Marines (and back, or course). And although we grew up in GA, he's never been to FL.

In fact, due to having 5 KIDS in his family, they pretty much never went anywhere, so he has zero experience traveling basically. He was on edge, to put it mildly. And sick. And a man!
We go to MK on Saturday and it is a MADHOUSE. Body to body crowds, seriously.

It wasn't just uncomfortable, it was scary. People using strollers as battering rams and such.

We tried to make the best of it, but we couldn't stand all the people and got out of there almost as soon as we arrived. My husband was totally turned off to WDW and for a day or so, all he would do was stay in the hotel room. Later in the trip, a security guard at MK told me that they closed MK at 11 AM on that Saturday we were there. Anyway, the trip was really, really bad but we've been back since, and now he's totally hooked.
So the moral of the story is, find out when they're taping the Christmas parade at MK and
don't go then.
