Wedding Crasher: Lurkyloo’s 4 Parties in 3 Nights with 2 Cameras and 1 Fabulous Hat

OMG!!!!! And YAY!!!!! Great write-up on our DP!!! And excellent Roots photos!!!
You'll have to tell me about the convo with Eoghan's family, sounds high-larious as you would say! :rotfl:

I just can't get over the pics!!!! Those are amazing!!! I'm actually kind of speechless at the moment, but wanted to respond to your update. It was totally worth the wait!! :flower3: Thanks for writing about it and making it sound as wonderful and fun as it was!!

I also enjoyed the Shula's write-up and I think it's FAB that you were picked as family of the day!!!!:thumbsup2

More please! (of course, when you get a chance!)

Am I the only one that finds it hysterical that you have a box of Little Debbie 100 cal snacks mixed in with those two bags of Ghirardelli chocolate squares??? :rotfl:

Lovin' the report - keep it up. :thumbsup2

So nice to see that Morocco is not some horrible ghetto. There is another recent Morocco bride (whose name escapes me at the moment), who also had great pictures. Her photos, coupled with Lori's, make me totally unworried about my upcoming DP there :)

However my dinner is at the Dolphin so I guess part of the wedding will still be a little ghetto in your eyes ;)

Also those little debbie 100 calorie snacks are horrible. I am in the midst of a wedding diet and got those thinking they would help me stay sane...and then you open them and find out they are about 2 square inches. Very depressing :sad2:

Another HIGH-larious update! :rotfl:

First off, props to you for bringing a negligee on a solo trip. I would have been in my sweats!

I was with you on Shula's up to the raw meat tableside and waiter instruction on the butchering process. :scared1: I love steak but I cannot connect it in any way in my mind with its animal self.

That baked potato looks pretty enticing! ::yes::

Morocco looks like a lovely dessert party location. I am :lmao: at your description of the event planner/bouncer. You barely got out of there alive!

Shula’s is one of those old-school restaurants where they really do it up: white-jacketed waiters placing your napkin in your lap, lots of things being wheeled around on carts and prepared tableside, etc. The one vaguely chain-restaurant-y gimmick is that the various cuts of meat are listed on a football that they bring to your table.

In case you’re wondering, they hate it when you punt this menu back to them.

Call me crazy, but from thi$ angle, $omething look$ ju$t a bit odd about that ball... I can't $eem to figure out what it i$ though... Maybe they're $aying $omething about the price$ of their $teaks?

Much like at Yachtsman, Shula’s has cuts of raw beef on display, but here they wheel them over on a cart and describe them tableside. This experience is not for the vegetarian or the faint of heart, but the darkness does cut down on the ick factor cuz you can’t really tell what you’re looking at.

This is what you’re looking at [cue Psycho music]

Our server was one of those smarmy, irritatingly officious types who ordinarily bug the crap outta me (I don’t remember, but he may actually have asked “Are we loving everything?” when he checked on us). But I was still in a goofy mood, so decided to give back as good as I got, and it became a kind of game to see who could out-smarm the other.

Why am I getting a mental picture of some sort of cobweb-covered refugee from the Haunted Mansion serving up deliiightfully undercooked steaks to the restaurant's unsuspecting guests?

"... And consider this dismaying observation. This menu has nooooo burgers, and nooooo fries, which leaves you with this chilling challenge: To find a meal to eat! MUHAHAHAHAHA!

...Of course, there's always MYYYY way. :scared1:

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to firghten you prematurely. The real chills come later when we bring you the check..."

One person who doesn’t like raw meat is Jensey. I like to rib her cuz she always orders her steak well done, but this time I was determined to get her to at least try a piece of my medium-rare steak and maybe even order hers cooked one notch below shoe leather on the chart. As it turned out, our server became my ally in this cause (he even spontaneously used the phrase “shoe leather” in his lecture!), which turned into kind of a twisted good cop/bad cop routine when he spent the remainder of the meal stopping by our table to extol the virtues of rare meat, explain the butchering and cooking process, and occasionally wave a piece of raw meat under our noses. Never mind that by that point not only had Jensey been persuaded to order the filet mignon medium well, she had received her order and was actually eating it, so the hardball tactics were sort of superfluous.

Um... Yeah. Doesn't exactly sound like appropriate dinner table conversation if you ask me. If I wanted to hear about the particulars of skilled bovine disassembly I'd be looking it up online, preferably at a time when there isn't a ruinable appetite present in the room. Not that I've actually ever bothered to research the subject, mind you... (Well OK, maybe once or twice, but still...)

The steaks look YUMMY! And the reception was beautiful!! I am cracking up at your slinky nightgown laid out across the bed!!! I guess they thought you had company!!!! lol (for some reason a Pink lyric is running through my head, now!! :lmao: )

Great review of Shula's. I had thought about going there in January since I have never ventured to the Swan and Dolphin resorts before. I think Bobby would like it there.

Lori's dessert party looked great!!!! It's pretty cool you got to go! Another great Lurkyloo update!

Great update as usual!!

Ok, I know this is the blonde in me coming out but, is there a football player named Shula?? If not the whole menu on a football thing makes no sense.:confused3

Well my camera's just a crummy eight-year-old Canon Powershot S200. They have much nicer models now, I'm sure. And I don't edit my pix, I just slap 'em up on the Web! Jensey's camera is a top-of-the-line Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and she edits in Adobe CS II (I think that stands for Creative Suite II - it includes Photoshop). So we're kinda at either end of the spectrum there. :rotfl:

Thanks for the info. Your photos are very pretty and come out very nice.

Another super duper fabulous unforgetable update! Jensey's pictures get better with each post. Your dinner at Shula's sounded delicious, but I could definately have done without the raw meat pictures. Blah. Uck. And I am going to have to side with Jensey on the medium well. That filet looked perfect to me.

The dessert party photos were lovely and your description of the "guard" at the entrance.... priceless.

I love Shulas. I've been to three different one. Probably the best steak house franchise.

If I had known you wanted to be invited to a disney wedding you should have let me know, I would have totally let you come to mine.

Aww, do you kiss your Patrick photo you brought along goodnight?

So, for 'family of the day' you get... turn down service? really, that's it? At the Disneyland hotels you get like an upgrade to a suite or concierge or something. But I guess they don't have that at values, hrmm. Still, nice that they consider you a family!

Quite the steak you had! 22 oz? You'd put my DF to shame, lol. Too bad the crab mac n cheese wasn't good... oh well, maybe the lobster mashed sucked too :confused3

Just found your report...and loving it!!!:goodvibes

I've only gotten as far as Day 1 with Jensey but can't wait to catch up. Jensey's photos are amazing, as usual! I can't believe she was taking them in the midst of catching up and hanging out with you!

And I was right - Akerhaus was a riot! You guys got some great photos!:goodvibes

PS - another lover of that Hat!

Waaaa... (insert Veruca Salt imitation here)....I want a desert party in Morocco!!!

What a beautiful wedding Lori had!! :goodvibes

Can't wait 'till the next update!

GREAT update, Carrie! Loved it! Your dinner at Shula's looked and sounded amazing (wasn't there a football coach named Shula? Is that where the name comes from?). The twice baked potato, to me, looked like the big winner of the dinner. Yummy! No dessert, tho? Do I even KNOW you?!? Or were you saving it up to scarf down the DP desserts? Clever girl(s)!

The photos Jensey took of the DP locale were stunning. I love that you guys go there early enough to snap pics before the guests arrived. Perfect! I felt like I was there.

I remember you being "family of the day" from your blog. You just got chocolates? Wait, what am I saying?! YAY! You got CHOCOLATE (and you didn't have to share!). Way to go WDW!

I can't wait to see what shenanigans you get up to next! Speaking of which, how long do I have to wait? I am seriously jonesin' for some D love. DLR withdrawals, hellooo!

Aside from the hilarity that is your report, I became so in need of the chocolate chex just by looking at the pics of it. But I did get some, so it's all sunny skies here. LOL.

More..more! lol

Pipe down, youse! :)

OMG!!!!! And YAY!!!!! Great write-up on our DP!!! And excellent Roots photos!!!
You'll have to tell me about the convo with Eoghan's family, sounds high-larious as you would say!

Oh good - I'm so glad you liked it! I was thinkin' "Man, she's gonna bust my chops if I screw this one up!" :rotfl: We were talking with Eoghan and his family, and I just made some casual reference to the "vow renewal" and as soon as I said it I was like "Oh crap!" cuz I remembered that not everyone knew you were already married! But then Eoghan was like "No worries - they all know." Whew!!!

AH! I always miss these things!

Glad you're no linger MIA! :thumbsup2

Am I the only one that finds it hysterical that you have a box of Little Debbie 100 cal snacks mixed in with those two bags of Ghirardelli chocolate squares???

Wait are you telling me that low-fat Lil' Debbies don't cancel out entire bags of Ghirardelli chocolates...? ;)

However my dinner is at the Dolphin so I guess part of the wedding will still be a little ghetto in your eyes

Oh, no - I had the most AMAZING meal there the next night. Your dinner is gonna rule! :cool1:

I was with you on Shula's up to the raw meat tableside and waiter instruction on the butchering process. I love steak but I cannot connect it in any way in my mind with its animal self.

Exactly! :crazy2: I'm afraid if I think about it too hard I'll have to become a Kirstie Alley vegetarian (all carbs...) :rotfl:

"... And consider this dismaying observation. This menu has nooooo burgers, and nooooo fries, which leaves you with this chilling challenge: To find a meal to eat! MUHAHAHAHAHA!

...Of course, there's always MYYYY way.

BWAAAHahahahahahaa! :rotfl2: ...So... do you wanna write my next installment? :rolleyes1

The steaks look YUMMY! And the reception was beautiful!! I am cracking up at your slinky nightgown laid out across the bed!!! I guess they thought you had company!!!! lol (for some reason a Pink lyric is running through my head, now!! )

:lmao: I was pretty embarrassed about it. I pictured some burly maintenance guy gingerly lifting my nightie like it was a poisonous snake...

Lori's dessert party looked great!!!! It's pretty cool you got to go!

You're just lucky I couldn't *find* your party back in February... :rotfl:

Great update....great pics, what else can I say!? Loving this TR!!:lovestruc

Hey, thanks! :goodvibes

Great update as usual!!

Ok, I know this is the blonde in me coming out but, is there a football player named Shula?? If not the whole menu on a football thing makes no sense.:confused3

Yes - Don Shula was the coach of the Miami Dolphins from 1970-1995 and holds the NFL record for most career wins, so it was natural that in his retirement he would, uh, open a chain of steakhouses... :cutie:

Thanks for the info. Your photos are very pretty and come out very nice.

Thanks!

:rotfl: Obviously you have never heard our waiter's diatribe on overcooked meat!

I love Shulas. I've been to three different one. Probably the best steak house franchise.

If I had known you wanted to be invited to a disney wedding you should have let me know, I would have totally let you come to mine.

:headache: D'oh! That woulda been awesome! Well, lemme know when you schedule your vow renewal. ;)

So, for 'family of the day' you get... turn down service? really, that's it? At the Disneyland hotels you get like an upgrade to a suite or concierge or something.

Wha...? Really?! Now I feel gypped!

Just found your report...and loving it!!!:goodvibes

PS - another lover of that Hat!

Hi! Glad you could make it! :wave2:

Waaaa... (insert Veruca Salt imitation here)....I want a desert party in Morocco!!!

Me too! You know it's only a $22 minimum per person to have a DP at Epcot - maybe we can all go in together on the site fee and host our own!

No dessert, tho? Do I even KNOW you?!? Or were you saving it up to scarf down the DP desserts? Clever girl(s)!

I know - can you believe it? Once again, I was being "mature" and "responsible" and not eating more than my tummy could hold. Plus, there had to be room for desserts at Lori's party!

I can't wait to see what shenanigans you get up to next! Speaking of which, how long do I have to wait? I am seriously jonesin' for some D love. DLR withdrawals, hellooo!

Hopefully I'll be able to write and post the next one by tomorrow afternoon! :thumbsup2

Oooh! Instant gratification - I like it! :lovestruc
