I found this info:

Ceremony locations can be held tentatively 12 months in advance. They can be confirmed 8 months in advance. A $1500 deposit and signed contract are required within about 2 weeks of booking your date and location.

We are getting married at the Yacht Club Gazebo, so we can hold out date tentiatively @ the 12 month mark and not sign papers until the 8 month mark? Or does it vary by location?

Thanks

Are you having a Wishes or Escape wedding?

I am guessing you are having and Escape, no? If that is the case, it does depend on the location. I know that they will not tenatively hold (pencil you in) the WP for you. As for the Gazebo, I have no clue.

Somebody please help me here, but I believe that being penciled in does not guarantee the date nor the time. You will still have to wait to the 8 month mark that.

Correct, being penciled in does not guarantee your spot. You will have to have a lottery if someone else were to want the same date and time, then if you win (or don't need a lottery) then you sign the contract.

Ok, that is a different situation.

With a Wishes wedding, a few of the reception sites (ballrooms, ADH, and a few others) can not be contracted until the 8 month mark. Other reception places (pretty much all of the ones in Epcot and a few others) can be contracted at the 12 month mark. You can have the contract at 12 months depending on the reception location.

As for the ceremony, if you choose a 8 month mark reception venue, I believe that you are still pretty much confirmed on the ceremony date and time.

According to Disney's website:

When can I reserve my wedding date?

Wishes Weddings at all locations can be booked 12 months in advance of your event date (based on availability). For Escape Wedding events, all outdoor Resort locations can be booked up to 1 year in advance. Disney's Wedding Pavilion can be booked at eight (8) months in advance for Escape Weddings (subject to availability).

Basically, you can book a Wishes wedding at 12 months and if no one else wants the same date/time/location, you are good.

If there are other brides who want the same date/time/location, then they will do a lottery.

I believe that some of the reception locations (for Wishes weddings) may have different booking requirements/limits.

Yes, sometimes it's hard to book your Wishes wedding because the reception location can't be booked til 8 months, even though the ceremony site can be booked at 12.

Theme park locations, resort restaurants, Ariel’s, and Atlantic Dance Hall can be booked up to one year in advance. All other locations can be penciled in at 12 months and confirmed eight months before the event, subject to availability.

ETA: The rule of thumb is any place that can be booked for a convention can't be booked by a DFTW til 8 months out... i.e., ballrooms, usually...

Hi Carrie! Thanks for the great info. Did the Attic fall under the 8 month mark??

I was just thinking about that when I typed and I don't know - we booked our wedding 5 months beforehand, so we had no problem asking for the Attic. It seems to me that it would be like Atlantic Dancehall and Ariel's b/c it's not a ballroom, but maybe it's tied to the BoardWalk Convention Center...

If anybody knows, let us know! :thumbsup2
