So when my countdown hits zero (in 14 loooong months), we'll be checking into the Poly for our wedding at WDW and honeymoon. Check-in is on Wednesday, August 31st, and our wedding is that sunday the 4th. is it bad if we wear our top hat and veil ears at check-in, or is that too soon? we'll be checking out the following thursday for a 3 day cruise on the wonder, then its back to POR for 5 more days? can we wear our ears at the cruise arrival and POR check-in as well?
also, my birthday is actually the day before the cruise (when we're still at the Poly), September 7th. Can i wear my Happy Birthday Stitch button for the whole trip? its not like i'm looking for free stuff. its always been a dream since i was a kid to be in wdw for my b-day.
one last thing . . . my dad's b-day is sept 21st. my mom and him will be in disney from 8/29-9/6. they haven't been to wdw in 15 years. can i get a button for him to wear? or is that too far removed from his day.
my fiance says it too far away for my dad, but i say that a "birthday trip" counts as longs as its within the month.
i know this can be a point of contention for some people, so please no flames (after all, my dad's a fireman so i can put those out ;) ). i was just hoping for an opinion.
thanks!

IMHO - The bride and groom ears are good the whole trip but the "day" in Birthday is there for a reason. I mean, we don't celebrate birthmonths do we?:p

The wedding ears are cool enture trip My Dh and I wore ours to airport and on plane due to Crushing factor of top hat and got upgraded to first class. I agree with others on Birthday button but I'm not about to stop you, i wouldn't know what day was your dad's bday for all I know he could lie and say it was that day.

Oh MaryKatesMum, my DH would hug you! Ever since I can remember I have had a birthmonth! I love birthdays and christmas and like to make them last as long as possible.

Birthmonth - you get something everyday. Usually not a gift or cake they are saved for the birthday. But little things - eg: My DH runs me a bubble bath, make me a vanilla latte (instead of regular coffee), does my HK duties for a day, puts a note in my bag, draws me a stick person picture, send me an email, watches a chick flick with me, burns me a CD of my favourite songs, puts my towels in the dryer, so that when I get out of the shower they are warm etc.

Most of my family and friends live overseas, so they snail mail cards and presents and they arrive throughout the month.

Therefore I have a birthmonth!

Go ahead wear the wedding ears throughout, and wear the birthday pin.

Enjoy your trip!

We took my son for a week in May for his birthday. His birthday was actually the Saturday we left - not much fun spending 7 hours in a van on your birthday, so everyday we were at Disney was his birthday. He had an awesome trip!!

My daughter's birthday is in October. Her fall break is actually two weeks before her birthday, but guess what we'll be celebrating the whole time we're there? Ironically, we're leaving on MY birthday, so guess I'll be spending 7 hours in a van - YEE HAW!!

Anyway, guess you know what my opinion is on the birthday buttons, and I say go for the hats throughout your trip. Hope you have a blast!!!

I agree with MaryKates Mom. It is your wedding trip and honeymoon so the bride and groom ears are fine for the whole trip.
However, I feel funny celebrating a birthday on a day thats not my birthday. We had actually planned to do this for DS on our Dec trip. His bday is the 18th and we arrived the 20th. We got the button and everything, but when it came down to it, we felt really silly having him wear "Today is my birthday" when it wasnt, so he didnt wear it.

I say go for it! Enjoy wearing your mickey ears for the entire trip - it is your wedding trip/honeymoon afterall! ;) I think you'll have a lot of fun wearing them around everywhere.

Last year I actually celebrated my birthday one day early at the Magic Kingdom. We took a last minute quick surprise trip in late March last year right before my husband had to leave for 5 months for military training. My birthday, April 1st, was the day he had to fly out. Talk about a great birthday present. So, We were in Disney until March 31st - so that is the day we celebrated my birthday together, especially since he wouldn't even be in the same state as me on my actual birthday.

Spending my bday in the Magic Kingdom & enjoying a meal with Tigger was one of the best bdays I've ever had. I say enjoy it while you can - you may not ever get to return on your bday again. Have fun!!! :teeth:

I say celebrate a birthmonth! Who cares if it's not the exact day? I sure wouldn't.
And celebrate your wedding every day you're there! Congrats!

And I'm a Mets fan in a world of Yankee fans!

The Wedding caps are definitely A-OK for the entire honeymoon.

I say go with celebrating an "un-birthday"....Alice fans know what I'm talking about.....

When we went to Disney 5/30-6/4, we celebrated my DDs birthday. It's actually 6/18 but we decided to go 2 weeks early hoping the crowds would be smaller and weather better. I didn't know anything about the button even tho I asked several times when I called Disney Travel. However, I was able to get a great res agent that arranged to have a birthday card sent to our room w/a pix of Cinderella in it. She signed the card and wished her a Happy 8th Birthday. What a surprise. Wish I had my camera ready at the moment she saw the card. Was priceless!! :earseek:

I would say bride and groom hats the whole time.

As for birthday buttons, I have no problem with someone wearing a birthday button on a day not their birthday if the trip is a "birthday trip." However, I would limit the wearing to one day, just to be fair to all the other people birthdaying on the other days!

I say let your Dad have his "birthday" and let him wear the button. You're at Disney to have fun, not worry about offending the birthday button police.

Holy cow!!!:earseek: How long have you been married? My guy is great but we have been together 17 years, 11 of which are married years and have 2 kids. I don't have time to make my own latte let alone have him make one (though he doesn't know what a latte is). My DH is the best and used to do the stuff you mentioned but at this point I think the sexiest thing he can do is give the kids a bath!
Good for you! I hope it is stays that fresh forever!

thanks for all of the opinions. i think i should have been a little clearer about the birthday pin. although im totally gonna get the "its my birthday" pin from town hall, i'll only wear that on my actual day.
there's a pin which has stitch eating lilo's cake and reads "happy birthday". that's the one i was gonna get for me and my pops.
now if they would just start making the bride and grom pins again. . .

anyone have a link to the lilo and stitch birthday pin? My dd would love that! TIA

Oh, and while I have spent my bday at WDW two times, I only wore the It's My Birthday pin on the actual day, and really never had anything too special happen. I always wish people a happy birthday when I see them wearing their pins though, and would pick them if I was looking to give away an unused fastpass or something.

I celebrate a birthmonth, because I'm me!!! DH only gets a birthDAY, even they we are in the same month!!! LOL!!!!

I say celebrate your birthday for ONE day of your vacation. Call it an un-birthday, or whatever you want, but I see no problem in celebrating one day of an awesome vacation with an extra pinch of pixie dust!

B/G ears are great for the entire trip IMO!!! This should be a once-in-a-lifetime event, so have at it!!!!

I'm taking my parents on a cruise in Dec after our family reunion, and I told the TA it is a 75th b-day present, even though their b-days are in the spring. I have no problem celebrating it early, since it is a heck of a gift from us to them (if I do say so myself), and it's worth a little cake and singing!!! Especially when you consider I won't be able to afford another b-day gift for them until they're 90!!!! LOL!!!!

In the minority here. Some of you may even have read about "My Extravagant Birthday Trip" last February when DH and I used "bump" miles from SWA to fly to FL from CT (well really TF Greene in Providence) for a long weekend to celebrate my 50 something birthday. I gladly wore all the birthday buttons I could collect -- one from each theme park. (The Studios one was the same as MK though). At AK an alert CM gave me a phone to listen to Goofy sing Happy Birthday to me, and on my genuine BD, I danced with Pooh and a reluctant 4 yo at Crystal Palace.

In our family, many haven't been able to celebrate birthdays in their forties or fifties, and I say make every one count.

Sooo... in September it's DH's turn. We got a postcard rate and are staying at WL, and then SWA had $49 one-way rates for September and DH will be wearing a birthday button on each of our three days in the Magic. POR didn't do anything special for me, but I'm hoping WL will for DH. He certainly deserves it for putting up with all my WDW addictions and obsessions!! LOL

My grandaughter was to celebrate her birthday which is Sept 19th with a birthday breakfast at CP. Then 9/11 happened, and they did not get to go.
Last year, they left to go to Florida on her birthday, and we went to the Magic Kingdom on 9/26, when I got to Florida. We felt that she was entitled to the birthday celebration, as she had missed out 2 years earlier. She had a ball, and had just turned 11. they only spent 1 day at Disney, but I just took her for a long weekend late last month.
I think we have another convert!!!!!!!!
