Hi Everyone,

My DS and I are coming in on May 6 to Walt Disney World for 4 Days.

This might be a stupid question, but I just went looking at Weather.com and it shows Thunderstorms for May 6th, Do I need to be worried or are these going to be passing rains, like when I used to go the end of June.

I know my father always says "they are never right about moisture" but just curious if I should worry

You can absolutely ignore any forecast over 10-15 hours in advance.

And, expect showers and even downpours on may days,
But, in general, they won't last very long.

AND...
It can be raining heffalumps and woozles at, say, Epcot,
and at the same time, be a sunny day at MK.

That's crazy!!

We've been projected rain yesterday and for the following 3 days.. Haven't seen a drop yet. Nearly all of Florida is dry and there's been numerous fires so we need the rain, but you can't trust a forecast more than a few hours out.

Pack a poncho or windbreaker just in case of rain, but it's more likely than not you won't see any. And if you do see rain it'll likely last about 30 min.

Also keep in mind that if you see during your day at Disney that there's "100% chance of rain", that simply only means that somewhere in the area it's "probably" going to rain. Like robo said it could pour at one spot and a quarter mile down the road be sunny and dry

So true!! One time we watched a storm pour over the MK area from our sunny dry Dolphin hotel room. When we went to Cali Grill for dinner that eve it was still wet there while it never rained a drop at the Dolphin!!

OP, I am going May 3-8, accuweather changes the long range forecast everyday so don't stress about rain. I always take a cheap poncho that morning if the forcast that day shows rain.

That’s funny that you should say that, I’ve been going, the last few years, the first Sunday in May for 4 days and never saw a drop of rain, I hope it’ll be the same thing this year

I like it when it rains, most visitors are unprepared and leave. We pull out our dollar store ponchos and carry on.....

We had a trip several years ago in late April/early May and got absolutely dumped on for something like 4 of the 7 days we were there. It was pretty miserable--heavy, wind-driven sideways rain is no fun and makes touring miserable. Spent a lot of time/money at the resort bar.

We've been twice the first week of May, one year perfect weather every day (warm, sunny, coolish nights) and the other year was almost as nice; think we had a thunderstorm one afternoon that last 20 minutes and another day was cloudy, few sprinkles. We love the beginning of May.
