Hey gang! I've been watching weather.com for the 10-day forecast for our trip (5/30-6/6). It says "isolated" and "scattered" t'storms practically every day we're there.

First, what's the difference? And second, is this beyond the normal everyday FL downpour? We're ready for that. We're just worried that this means it'll be constant.

Thanks!

isolated are more of the loner on a grassy knoll variety, scattered mean they might have friends.

Two or three days ago, we were about 6 blocks from our house.

While out, we had a sky darkening, thundering, torrential, downpour.

My Mom, who lives across the street, called to ask something and told me there was virtually no sign of rain....6 blocks away.

Rain or thunderstorms rarely last more than 20 or 30 minutes, exspecially during the summer months. This is not to say that they are always light showers. For those 20 or 30 minutes, a tremendous amount of rain can fall.

We are also prone to brief, but violent, thunderstorms. If you find yourself out in one, take shelter. Lightening in Florida is not a joking matter. We can sometimes have 1000's of lightening strikes in a very short time span.

Hope that helps.

Here is my thing with weather.....

I can plan until my ears fall off, but there is not ONE thing I can do about the weather, so I don't worry about it.

Last 2 trips, when I turned out the weather channel in the room it showed rain everyday, scattered, isolated, whatever and we actually saw rain a total of twice. Short downpours that lasted 15 minutes. (and cleared the parks :teeth:) It also rained for a couple hours once in Animal Kingdom, but we never felt a drop because we were at Magic Kingdom where the sun was out. Florida weather, can't predict it, just enjoy it.

I've heard that about the lightning. Our photographer for our Disney Wedding has been struck 2 or 3 times (I can't quite remember). I think anything more than 0 is a significant number.

Yep, I'm with Kevin. Isolated showers would be when it rains in my backyard but is dry in my front yard. Yes, that has happened to me.
