weather in the 50's next week 1/8 -1/9

As to the bold, not regularly but when the temps are dropping they bring out the black beanies and gloves that are given out to CM and sell them. I believe they were $5 each last time I saw some in the parks. They are the things sold for $1 at Target and whatnot.

well it's better than nothing but $40 for the cheaper stuff..

Side note: I remember complaints from CMs last year (in the news) that they got stuck in wrong weather clothing to do their job and be in costume. Take a moment and cheer up a cm time to time when your at WDW in the cold.

So just checked again for next week and it is showing low of around 55 and highs upper 70s with cloudy for most days (80 on Friday). So it looks like everyone will bring their jacket which we will have already coming from NH. I will make sure to add a hat, mittens, blanket (for 9 month old) for the kids. This is an advantage of having a double stroller ( :) ) in that it will be perfect for storage. Sad that we will probably not get to go swimming since we are staying at Beach Club.

If you get a sunny day and can go at about 2:00 or 3:00, you may be able to get in a bit of swimming. I personally wouldn't get in the water then but DGD sure would. And did during our trip at Thanksgiving, got cool our last day. Silly child turned blue when she got out of the water.

Gotta disagree with those who said 50s is fine weather. We're from Buffalo where it's quite cold so we're used to those temperatures. But I was also at WDW one November when the high was upper 50s, and it wasn't fun. The thing is that temperatures don't actually reach the high of 50s until mid-late afternoon. So for those of you going out for rope drop or even mid-morning, it's actually 30s or 40s. Quite a difference. And once the sun goes down, it gets colder again. So its only really in the 50s for a couple hours in the aftenroon at most. Also, the outdoor rides whip you through the wind and cold air. We luckily had a jacket and hoodies that we had worn on the plane, but we wished we had gloves too.

Completely agree with this! You underestimate how cold it will actually feel, especially at night. Definitely wished I had gloves too on a past trip that got pretty chilly. My recommendation is dress in layers!

Another cold weather note...a lot of the animals at AK are kept inside when the temperature is below a certain level. I rope dropped AK one chilly (40s) January morning (it was the last day of our trip), and many of the animals were not out, including my favorite fruit bats! So if you want to go to AK, I'd recommend doing so on one of the warmer days of your trip. You'll get more out of it.

What about the safari ride? I plan on rope-dropping AK on Sunday when the weather will be in the mid 40s-low 50s. Do think that might be too cold to see anything?

Some animals will be out, but they might not be super active. You'll definitely see less than you would on a warmer day.

Would it make sense to wear our NJ winter coats for the cold mornings or would that be overkill? Can you get on a ride in a puffy coat? We'll have a stroller to put them in if it warms up.

You got that right. I am also in NH and have been known to snow blow the driveway in shorts and a t shirt after one of those warm (say mid 30's temp) storms. lol

This!

We went this week last year. It was in the low/mid 60s. We were in tshirts/capris and there were a ton of people wearing parkas, scarves, hats and gloves.
