Weather in Philadelphia in Late April?

This question is really budget related....

Can anyone tell me what the typical weather - temperature wise - is in the Philadelphia/Valley Forge area in late April?

Oldest DS is going on a trip with the Boy Scouts from the 17th - 23rd and I need to know if I can wait for the deeper discount sales to buy his shorts and T-shirts or if I need to start shopping now.

Definitely can wait. I wouldn't call Philly exactly hot in mid april. Generally it's about high 60's to low 70's. it can be really nice if its sunny but it would definitely be too cold if it's rainy or overcast.
In fact I would advise bringing a hoodie or jacket.

I would send a pair or two of shorts, but it's still pretty chilly on rainy days and overnight. Absolutely need some sort of sweatshirt and pants, but it's a time of year where you need to be prepared for anything!

I have seen it get into the mid 80's here in April, I have even run my central a/c in April, but then I would say the usual temps are around 70, and still chilly at night.

Great! We're definitely planning on jeans, jacket, etc. as they'll be camping but I wasn't sure if he'd need shorts. It sounds as though if he takes his 2 pairs convertible scout pants he should have enough pairs of shorts for the week and I can wait for late spring sales to buy him some regular shorts.

Definintely jeans, tshirts, jacket...sweatshirt/hoodie. Generally not shorts weather til mid to end of May. Hope he has a great time visiting our area.

April is a great time to visit. 60s and 70s and jeans should be about right. Maybe the redbud trees will be blooming in Valley Forge. They are so pretty! I planted four trees in my yard. Enjoy!

April can be iffy. We have gotten snow in April before. Just check the weather before he leaves. Also, look out for rain/wind.
