We are tent camping October 20-27th at the Fort! Never been at this time of year, but are experienced campers in ontario Canada. We spring and fall camp without heaters! We like to rough it, but have always stayed in a resort when going to Disney! Just wondering about the weather, I don't want to spend a whole week frezzing my butt off! What is the weather truly like at this time of year?

Can be hot during the day, but usually at that time of year mid to upper 70's. Cool at night, but seldom cold. This is still hurricane season, so I would worry more about that than the temps. Temperature wise, though, I really don't think you will find a better time to go.

Isn't it near the end of hurricane season? I'm a bit nevous now! Is ther lots of rain, what happens in the event of a hurricane? Sorry, from Ontario Canada, have never experienced hurricane weather, tornado weather yes!

The fort has been evacuated in the past - you are put up at another resort. A couple of years ago, we left FW 1 day before it was evacuated for hurricane Wilma, which was right about the end of October. This season so far has been pretty quiet. The year of Wilma was the year we had so many hurricanes. In fact, this year has been too dry and the main complaints are low water levels.

So we won't be stranded, if staying there, Disney will take care of us! Good to know! I have been through many violent storms camping! Just worried about being stranded! Thanks for the info!

No fears - Mickey will take care of you.

We went to WDW last October in the middle of the month. When we arrived, we had low 80's however, the last five days of our trip it was in the high 90's!!

Several years ago we went in November and had temps consistantly in the high 80's - it was more like August weather. Pretty unusual, though.

We usually camp the first week or two in October and the weather has always been nice and toasty, with a pop-up storm every now and then. I think there was one or two nights a few years back when "I" had to use our heater at night....but not DH or DS. I can't stand to be cold and they can't stand to be "warm". So we had to compromise, I had the heater on and they kept the windows open :rolleyes1

might sweat it off, but you won't be freezing!!! It can still be pretty hot in October!!!

being from so far north I iamgine you will find it still a bit warm for you even at night ...I find I sometimes need a sweater when it is cool and breezy....no need for heaters...rain a whole different concern....just be sure you bring a tarp to cover your tents...and weather proof them as well...I also for added insurance I buy a small tarp or shower curtain liner and cover my bedding on my air mattress incase there is a possible leak..has saved me more than once...I've since graduated to a TT but still remember those wonder tenting times at the Fort!!!

I love the idea of covering your air mattress with a tarp!! We will definitely be doing this, as it ALWAYS rain when we go camping. We have a large tent 14x12. Wouldn't this be difficult to cover with tarps?

You can buy larger tarps! I also tarp the bottom of the tent, inside and out to prevent wet areas! Every year in the spring it is good to weatherproof your tent!

You may not need a tarp if you have a rain fly. We never tarp our tent. Just seam seal all the seams before you go and spray all areas with Scotch Guard, even the rain fly. Make sure nothing touches the sides of your tent when it's raining, anything can act as a wick (even a finger) and will cause it to flow in.
