We are going to florida for the first time in 12 days :Pinkbounc time I am sure we will love it and we are now thinking about going again next year. I work in a school so I am tied to the school holidays. I was wondering what the weather is usually like the end of July beginning of August, or if we should go at Easter again. I can be more flexible with dates in the summer but I have to fly on a set date at Easter, obviosly when it is busier and more expensive! Thanks for your help.

We've been several times during the summer months. It has been hot and we've had a lot of rain, but I'd never choose to go at Easter - way too busy.

Hi there,

We've been a few times in August (reluctant to take my girls out of school) and I can tell you it is very very hot! Be prepared, LOL.

It is also very humid and the years we have been there has been an almost daily rainshower (of a torrential nature!) at about 3pm which you could almost set your watch by. When that ends though the humidity is a tad better which is good.

I like to go in he last two weeks of August when the parks are more quiet - the Southern states mostly go back to school then.

July will be very busy as well as hot but you have the advantage of longer park hours.

I am fond of late August myself though do be prepared for the heat and humidity.

Oh and it's hurricane season too!!

We like the last two weeks in August too. I'm tied to school holidays and find the summer allows time to recover before going back to school. It is very hot and humid, but it's the only time I've been so I don't know WDW any other way!

It is hot, humid and rainy!!!!

However, we still always have a FAB time. We always go at this time of year cos of school as well. I would still always go in summer over August cos you have some time to recover, which you don't get at Easter.

(But it is a good excuse to get a fantastic poncho!!!!) :umbrella:

If you're booking for this summer or next, check to see whether your local authority is one that has signed up with various TA to offer deals, e.g. Virgin are giving a £400 discount on holidays to selected hotels & $100 (disney) if you also buy tickets.

Personally having been twice in July I wouldnt go again, the rain is torrential, and no matter how much you try to avoid it and do other things, its not my kind of holiday weather!!!.
Heat and humidity isnt a problem.

Jules

Just remember lots of rain.
Last time we went July/August was 2002 and the first two weeks the weather was great only had a few days where it rained for long periods.
Third week - rain, rain and more rain.
Still came back with a great tan

Due to my job as a school secretary, this will be our first trip in August :sunny: However, having been in May, June. October and November, I have seen many torrential downpours, so not worried about them (sometimes it's a bonus because the parks tend to empty a bit, but some of the more "open" rides may shut if there is also lightening).

We are prepared (as much we can :cool1: ) for the heat and humidity. My DH is an absolute sunworshipper :worship: :sunny: , so he is really excited about going in August.

We go on 8th, down to the beach for 12 nights, then back up to Orlando for the last 5 nights. We're doing it this way around for a change in the hope that the parks might be a little quieter.

From what friends have told me who have been both in the Summer and Easter, Summer wins handsdown because of the sheer size of the crowds at Easter. Since this will be your first time this Easter, perhaps next Summer might be a nice surprise for you. Have a wonderful time this Easter :)

We're really looking forward to it - although DD doesn't like SO much hot heat, she is well prepared and always wears a t-shirt over her bikini in the water (and given she spends so much time in the water the only place we really have to suncream is her face  ).

We have gone as soon as the scottish schools break up at the end of June for the last 3 years, we're doing it again this year and have booked again for next year.

The weather in the mornings is very pleasant but starts to heat up towards lunchtime and you really dont want to be out in it by mid-afternoon, and then the thunderstorms arrive - and can last into the evening.

It's pretty predictable and you can plan around it.

Before this we went at Easter and the weather was fantastic but boy were the parks busy and with such a limited time window for the school holidays it was pretty expensive.

Used to love the last 2 weeks in August ... until last year :sad2:

Then had an extended holiday in the hotel basement courtesy of a hurricane.

I have not been in July before, only February, does it get cooler on an evening or is it still very humid?

As a teacher, I have to take school hols too. :teacher:
I have been once in the Easterhols and 4 times in Aug.
We are going this Aug too.

Weather as people have said was hot with the 3pm thunderstorm. I actually enjoy them. Coming from UK it is unusal having warm rain and once done everything seems so fresh.
I love wdw anytime  but Aug was better than Easter, mainly due to less crowds.

Not been in August but the end of june start of july is rather busy (spesh the 4th of July  )
is it hurricane season!?! :scared1:
i am such a wuss!!! is it bad in hurricane season???? :rotfl:

the rain i can deal with because we get enough of that but eeeeek!
hurricanes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
