We leave Friday and plan on being at universal Sun, Mon and Tues, then beach Wed-Sun. Tstorms (some days severe) are forecasted every single day! I know FL is rainy this time of year and it's usually quick storms but what about the days that are supposed to be "severe"? Will it rain most of the day??

It's Florida.

You can tell us what happens after you return because we don't know anymore than you know.

Just go, watch the weather and radar. Plan around it day by day.

This past week we were there and had it interupt our days too. With us living in Florida we know how to adapt a little more.

I'm in St. Louis, and trust me we know rain. It literally rained at least part of each day for 2 weeks, got a few day break and then more rain. It's rained SO much here this summer I need to build an ark!

We're brining ponchos and I'm not worried about a little rain each day. Just didn't know if it's typical to get so torrential you can leave the hotel!

Don't stress about weather since you cant control it. Typical for Florida.
I looked at weather each day, 2 weeks ago, to decide which day to hit US/IoA and each day, at different times of the day- Different forecast. In the end, they called for rain each day and we got a bad storm for 2 hours, one day.

It will most likely NOT rain most of the day. Our summer rains are not from frontal boundaries like you guys get up north. Although yesterday we did have a very weird day where a front pushed down and it was cloudy and rain moved in throughout the day - but this is NOT typical.

Ours are based on convection - heat of the day=cloud build up = thunderstorms. The storms are the pop up kind - you never know where they are going to pop up in the area. It can be raining at my daughters school but not at my house. Yes - some of them are very severe... tons of rain and lightning (here in TPA we are the lightning capital of the world). But they are usually in the afternoon and last only about 1-2 hours.

Watch the weather when you get here - they will tell you if the land or sea breeze is "winning" and which way the storms will be coming from (east or west) and what time of day to expect them. OR if we have a high pressure over us - then no rain - just oppressive heat with no breeze or break. ;)

Thanks for the info :) I see the first few days of our trip the high is in the upper 80's instead of 90's so I'm hoping that stays. I too was interested in this since the foercast shows rain every day of our trip. Good to know its normally only a few hours a day. A good friend of mine visited Disney in May a few years ago and they had downpours for 4 days straight and they ended up leaving and going home early. I think Disney gave them some sort of comp (maybe becasue they bailed early??? Not sure). But I always think of that and cringe since I've put so much money into our Orlando trips.

I suffered through 6 out of 7 days trip of rain in May 09, so much rain there were floods in the area. We changed plans, threw on ponchos and dealt with it as best as we could. We cut park days short and focused on indoor shows. A few times they closed rides for tornedo warnings but what can you do other then make the best of it and enjoy time as a family. It wasn't ideal but we wouldn't have spent the money to change flights or lost what we spent on tickets and such.
The best part- Our last night, as if mickey magic:wizard:, the skies cleared and sun came out. So I took my kids, from bed in their PJs back to see wishes! We were off site, drove all the way back because we wanted to do what we could.

I am hoping for good weather for you! If it rained 4 days straight with no break for your friends, it was most likely a tropical depression/low that sat over the state. Technically hurricane season doesn't start until June... but we can always get them early. Here's to clear (or mostly clear) skies!

I am here this week I got here on Saturday and just about every day at some point we got rain. never lasted long, in fact it was actually welcomed. Because after the rain the temperatures are much more bearable

First two days I was here the temperature is reached 98 and 97 respectively. Last few days it was "just" 91-92

The rain Saturday was nice. We ate at Margaritaville while it was raining. Then after we closed the parks very low crowds too.
